It seems like you're using macOS?
Some macOS devices are currently unable to play, especially if the case-sensitive option is enabled in the disk partition.
It didn't happen in my side so I can't really test it; however we will fix it in the next upcoming update!

It is much more strange if you're playing on Windows 10, since no one has reported that error on Windows yet.
Maybe because of your locale settings? Honestly Nwjs (the software used to run RPG Maker MV games) acts strangely on some computers with Japanese files, but we will rename them and fix that error soon.
Same on my system, also Windows 10. I'm looking to switch locale settings to japanese, maybe it helps. But I haven't had to change it for other games yet. It happened to me on the first encounter with Rippe after being chased by the wolves. The game is trying to play the ガラの心.ogg

As I described above, Nwjs usually acts strangely with Japanese files on some computers; some will throw this error, some won't.
But this is also an error in our end, and we will definitely fix it.
Workaround for anyone dealing with the error. Just play through the scene, save and restart the game. The error should be gone and you can keep playing.

That doesn't really help because that file doesn't play if you restart the game. If someone encounters that error at other occasions (eg. in the title screen), I'm afraid that error will still happen.

Currently we're aware of a serious error that can't play Japanese files (including the BGM) on some computers; therefore that error occurs even in the Title Screen, making the game unplayable. I'm currently working with hmprovt to fix that error, and the hotfix will be uploaded soon.

Experiencing same issue. Tried to look up root that it has problem with and this is what I have in it. Mostly in audio>bgm folder (seen a few in audio>se as well) have been renamed by system itself, I guess?

The best thing we can do now is renaming all of the files to Latin letters, therefore preventing the locale issues to happen.
We all played and tested this game using the English locale and language, so we weren't aware of this error. But now my Linux installation is also struggling with this error so I think I can test thoroughly and make sure that error won't happen in the next hotfix.

I just realized that this error also happened in my Linux installation, so we can't fully blame Microsoft. Just blame Nwjs and Chromium.Or we can go burn down MS HQ in MINECRAFT and bring back good old Windows 7
If the computer you tested on have Japanese language/locale installed, the error shouldn't occur.
