I'm playing the clean version of S1 with no mods or third party addons, so I can only assume it's either a mod you installed that broke the game, or it could be the bug described by the dev in the first post of this thread in the "Changelog" section:

*I've encountered some problems with loading saves from Chapter Four. It ends as if Chapter Five doesn't exist. Saves from other chapters work fine. I tried to figure out the cause, but it's still unclear. It seems Ren'Py remembers not only the line where you saved but also the place the code returns to after completing the chapter, which is the final screen, and it ignores the new chapter as if it doesn't exist in the code. Unfortunately, I couldn't have predicted this strange behavior, especially since everything worked fine before.

I've already found a new way to write the code to avoid such issues in the future.

For now, if you experience this problem, I can only suggest using older saves from Chapter Three or earlier, which should work without any issues.

So did i as i feared it would create a bug, thus i started clean and played from the start , i also ended up at chapter 4 and have no access to chapter five at all in season 1.

It is part of the deluxe version, always has been. No one probably wants to spend $15 for it nor care enough about 2K resolution.

Deluxe edition includes an in-game Walkthrough mode. It can run in two modes:
HINTS - shows hints only in the most critical scenes.
FULL - always offers the best response if it has the slightest impact on the story's development.

Besides, the deluxe edition can be in 2k resolution (1440p)

I mean you can just use URM if you need your hand held that bad.

While I understand there is an issue with chapter 5 saves, I can't seem to find the download to it anywhere, Season 1 link only has ep 1-4. Am I missing something or at this point should we just skip from ep 4 to 6?

The season 1 download I got from there only goes to end of episode 4. I was using the 1080 mac one, though I imagine the others are the same.

Yeah maybe but i also have issues to play chapter 5 .
As i stated above, i also downloaded the right file and started fresh - no mods - a new game and i can't seem to be able to play chapter 5 as it stops at the end of the fourth and ask you to save and... nothing - goes to credits - the end.

So we are several to do something wrong perhaps but i don't have any idea how to make it works.
Thus if anybody can point us out the way to do it, it would be greatly appreciated.

For anyone having difficulties moving to chapter 5, it may be more than a "save issue". The 1080p version I downloaded from the main page is missing the chapter5.rpa file, making it impossible to move on to chapter 5. The 2k version linked on the main page DOES have the chapter5.rpa file included and I was able to move to the final chapter of season 1 with no difficulty. Hope this helps.

What might be causing the confusion is that in the links for the first season, the 1080p version only goes up to Chapter 4. I think it would be better to remove this link to avoid confusion and leave only the 2K version, which is actually the full first season.
