What door are you talking about? The one with the minotaurus statue? That one isn't implemented yet afaik. It's supposed to open after a minigame with the statue but only if you have removed the parasite. So afaik there is no way to get past that yet.

Ah no, I mean the very first door in the first room you begin a new game in. After beating the first enemy he never drops a key or anything. Previous versions worked fine though

If you're there before you can, well then you can't. When you can, you'll be prompted on how to, IIRC. If you have stuff to do where you are, do that first.
