Normally, I don't pick up games this fast after they're posted, my backog is too huge to bother. This time though, I kept hearing about how bad this game is, and I got curious to see for myself how bad it is, and why it's bad. I was curious to see if this game is actually bad, or just mediocre.
The answer to that is that, quite frankly, the game is bad, not just mediocre. It has a number of issues and bugs, not to mention that it doesn't quite deliver on some of the things it promises in its description, or does so very badly. Unless something is super hidden, this is the dev's 1st game after only making ASMRs, but even when accounting for that, there's only so much one can forgive. Honestly, it's easier to talk about what is good about the game, than what's bad...
So what's good about it? Not much, and it's all subjective anyway. The art can be good if you like the style, but that's obviously gonna vary from person to person. I find it hot at least. The writing in the H-scenes itself is decent, maybe even good if you're into the themes involves, even if you take the individual scenes out of context, but that's also subjective and partially screwed up by a different issue. I like the the story idea, plus a certain twist at the very end, but the execution is really sloppy and the dev didn't put in as much work as he should have to properly elaborate on all the things that needed touched up upon.
There's nothing objectively good about the game... well, I suppose it's not particularly grindy... but that's kind of a problem in and of itself, because contrary to what the game implies, you don't really have that much of an incentive to "strengthen the crest", because the game is piss easy and it's really easy to make the party overpowered and able to wreck everything in their way. The gear selection is bad even for basic RPGM standards on top of that. Hell, the dev left slots like Shield and Accessories available, yet there isn't a single equipment of that type in the game that I've been able to find. The skills are utterly unimpressive, and it doesn't take much effort to end up with the ability to wreck basically everything with auto-attacks.
However, there's more to it than that which makes this game bad. 1st, the game tells you that you can find H-events marked with exclamation marks. Yet, you'll quickly find that there aren't any of those to be found on the map, anywhere. I don't know if the dev messed up their coding, or if they're an idiot, but what actually happens is that if you wander around the map, sometimes an exclamation mark will pop up above the MC's head and you'll get a prompt about whether you want to see an event happening or not. This wouldn't necessarily be bad, if you had some actual proper indicator about where events happen, y'know, have the search turned into an actual gameplay elements with hints and dialog and whatnot that'll tell you when and where to explore, along with why the girls and the MC would go through that area. Initially, it seems like there might be something like that, with the 1st mandatory set of scenes for each of the girls that basically introduce you to everything that's going on...
However, that never happens again aside from 2 more mandatory scenes for Aria. You're basically left completely blind in terms of where to go... except for the randomly appearing "god of Pleasure", who's never explained in any way, and who even calls his hints "spoilers" and who also gives you access to the gallery.
What's worse is the fact that the scenes don't have proper progression to them. They kind of just happen and the build-up isn't consistent. Now, this is at least partly intended. The game basically says that the scenes and more is supposed to happen in the background, regardless of whether the MC sees it or not... but... there's no proper system for this. The game also says that sometimes the H-stats thing is supposed to update with things that happen out of sight of the MC... but that also doesn't happen. Only watching H-scenes triggers updates to the H-stats, and sometimes those scenes add extra stuff like "weekly masturbation" counts and whatnot, as if to imply that time's passing, though they do a poor job of it.
If you try to go for the non-NTR ending, which the game does have, you'll likely be very confused when you'll hit the two mandatory H-scenes for Aria, which will basically imply that she's been fucking around a lot all this time behind her husband's back, but the H-stats will not reflect that at all, not unless you've watched a bunch of the other events, and even then it won't really work. Again, no proper sense of progression at all.
Hell, the game is supposed to have "1-year of training" before going on the journey to defeat the Demon King. During this time, the Hero and his party are supposed to train and strengthen the power of the crest given by one of the gods to the Hero's closest companion. You might think that there'd be some kind of series of training goals, the passage of time, something, to cover this year. Some kind of system that has you balance between trying to do things with or without the crest. Something.
You'd be horribly wrong. The only things you have is ONE mission to kill some random demon in a cave along with any H-scenes you want to collect in town, and then it's off to fight the Demon King. The journey to the Demon King is also weird, with a couple of mini-missions on the way and a couple of mandatory H-scenes, but it also makes no effort to really convey a sense of time passing. Early on, the game implies that sleeping causes time to pass and whatnot, but nothing ever comes of that.
Moving on, you can also tell that either the dev was an idiot, or that they haven't played many H-games, if any, before making this one, because this game has a lot of issues that RPGM games don't need to have after all these years. There's stuff like the interaction point for vendors being in front of them rather than on the desk or on them. There's bugs like character sprites not appearing in combat. There's weird things like monsters not disappearing when you fight them in that 1 cave and ONLY in that cave. There's the clothing damage in combat that serves no purpose whatsoever. There's the gallery room which has no order and no way to tell what scene is what aside from interacting with them, and their interaction points are also in front of the crystal, not on it. There's the fact that the TP bar for the characters isn't visible anywhere, even though 3 of the party members have TP skills. There's the horribly inconsistent usage of names in H-scenes, where in some scenes they pop up some of the time, and in some scenes they don't pop up at all, making it annoying to keep track of who's talking and when narration or thoughts are happening...
Oh, and there's the fact that your story progress can get reset if you visit the church area, which can completely screw up your run, and which can also prevent you from seeing the events in that area if you want to hunt them.
Honestly, it's impressively bad. Looking at the game, and having played it, I suspect that the dev basically tried to make an ASMR in game format, while also creating a greater setting for their works, but they had absolutely no idea what they were doing or what their project needed, and they bungled it up immensely. It also feels like the game was meant to have more than it does, but the dev gave up on it when they realized that they had no idea whatsoever how to pull off their ideas. You can tell that they were initially quite motivated from the number of NPCs in town and how much text was put in them, particularly during the intro... and you can also tell that said motivation went down the drain later as you progress through the game.
It's extra disappointing because I like games that give you a mechanical incentive to have the smut happen. It's one of the reasons why I love games like Ruins of Luxoria or the Acerola cum collecting games. Adding this sort of thing to a NTR game has all sorts of potential... sadly, this game promises a lot and delivers exactly nothing. It's just a massive disappointment and not worth any money. It's still an ok time-waster I suppose. If you ignore the events and just follow the story objectives and grind a bit to get the max tier of gear on everyone, you can beat the game in ~1-2 hours at most and that's including taking a break to enjoy the mandatory H-scenes... Honestly, I could keep bitching about various other issues this game has, but there's no real point. It's bad, not just mediocre, which is not something I say often.
