Anyone who is critical should show their own work as an example. If a critical person can't do better they should STFU.

Good to see you taking up the "Don't feed the trolls" stance that will do wonders for your mental health I think. If someone posts that kinda shit on the thread just leave it to us we'll chew them up and spit em out like we always doThis is honestly OT so if it gets deleted then oops.
So while I've been away I've actually thought a ton about people who post the most absolute ignorant shit with complete confidence.
I've also thought a ton about how I should let shit like that effect me.
It's a thing I've always done, I try to imagine why they do it and humanize whoever writes it.
It's super simple to chalk it all up to trolling or just someone being big mad. (Which I honestly should do more)
But think about it. These are all people that have lived their own life and have all had unique experiences that led them to posting whatever they did.
And sometimes it could just be someone having a bad day or just down on their luck and they're taking their frustrations out here. And it could just be someone who is totally fine and just wanted to show their ass a bit.
Or they are just genuinely ignorant and don't know any better.
But either way they all have their own lives and responsibilities. And I'd imagine most of them don't really think or worry about how their words can affect the other side.
For a long time I believed in "you are what you speak" meaning if you spoke angry you were likely an angry person. Or at the very least you were sowing something you would reap later. But I don't think that's a very healthy mindset for me. I don't like wishing bad things on anyone.
But we're all humans and fuck we're complex. But I do believe that a genuinely content person isn't going to spend their time writing crazy or hateful shit. It usually takes someone who has their own shit going on. And I shouldn't let their words get to me because fuck it, just like them I'm not perfect and I can't please everyone.
I've been guilty of responding to some of them. Usually in a joking manner but still, I have to realize that my words carry a bit more weight since I'm the one that they were usually indirectly speaking to. And just like them I didn't really think about how my words could affect them.
So I'd say I have a new mindset towards it. I likely won't respond anymore and if I do it won't be in a direct sense at all. And I just have to wish the person well and hope that whatever could be troubling them gets better. And leave it at that.

Criticism is needed especially constructive criticism, complaints aren't.
That's not how criticism works.
That's an appeal to an authority which subverts the process of being critical for being superior.
It's fine for people who have no "experience" to point of specific situations where their experiences can be improved. It's not okay for someone to claim to give critique but only give their keyboard a new shitstain.

So literary critics should have to write books, movie critics should have to make movies, and video game critics should have to make video games? I'm not sure of the context here, but it should be pretty universal that if you put yourself out there, you open yourself up to criticism. Constructive criticism is important.

That's the point! CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcome, but when people start talking sh*t and attacking without even bothering to read a few lines back, that I call ignorance or laziness in the best case, or straight hate speech in the worst.

That would be awesome. Or anything that gets them out of their clothes.

they should at least try and do the stuff once, you can only really give constructive criticism if you know what you are talking about, if you mean give your option, then it is another story, you opnion presented correctly is all good, but not constructive, constructive imply that you gave an alternative, for exemple: "oh the writing in this is not good, you could do more dialog and less explaining the character every move", or "oh you could use an if statment with boolean to make such scenes optional and without having to create a whole new scene", or whatever, but if you just say for exemple "oh, this sucks because i don't like this" then it isn't constructive, and to be constructive you can do two things, experience the stuff enough and learn how everything works and then give exemples of how to improve, or creating something of the same tipe and learning everything first hand.

Aw c'mon .... really? You expect people to be informed and make valuable contributions? (checks banner really quickly) Yeah, we are still here at F95zone. Unfortunately many of the crowd that hang here are generally not so inclined. Except for ThunderRob of course, but he's a one-off to be sure. It would be a kinder and gentler place if people actually did what you suggest, however.

My unsolicited advice (based on feedback from more than 1 dev)....I would avoid this place as a dev IMHO. Unless you are able to deflect and ignore 90% of the bullshit, it's not worth it.

Last month marked the passing of Chatterbox the creator of LEXI. If you have not played the game, you might give it a try. The game was left to GamersGlory who was also working on the game. He plans to start working on the game as soon as he is able. Right now the Patreon page is still up. The donations collected are going to CB's widow. I was a supporter of the game before CB's passing. I am happy to continue supporting the game to help out the family of one of the developers here. BD mentioned that since he is not collecting pledges this month, that maybe we could contribute to a worthy cause. For those that may want to help a former member of this community, you might try LEXI out and consider pledging since it is going to help someone at a difficult time in their lives. Even pervs have hearts, right?
I must say its a pretty interesting game. Has a lot of potential dev and well we haven't seen any release for quite a while, hope to see some new content soon. And yeah show some more basketball action too, it would be something new and refreshing.

But critics give opinion for consumer experience not the creative process. This is the same in movie industry where shows are sampled in front of random audience to see the reaction. They don't need to know what goes behind the production of such show. I do agree that any response needs to be given in a cultured manner, doubly so, if in this case the person doesn't even support BD financially

And those normaly suck, because they are a matter of opinion, i can't even count the amount of times that critics gave a high score to a movie that the majority of the watchers found mediocre at best, or when they gave a bad score and the movie was loved, and what i stated was constructive criticism not criticism as in opinion, wich i did say that when it is like that, as long as you present it, as you said, in a cultured manner, than it is what ever, what i meant is, you can't demand the person to change theyr product to your preference without presenting an alternative, and i was responding to someone talking about contructive critiscism if i recall correctly.

Been lurking here a while. Loooove WVM! That's four 0's if you're counting at home lol. This is the first post I've ever written on this forum, I felt compelled to do so. See, I too have been in BD's shoes, not as a developer but as a published writer. I too have felt the absolute swell of gratitude for everyone who loved my work. What can't be denied, however, is the amplification of the negative i felt for even one bad review. To me it's quite personal. I imagine to anyone who truly gives a shit it would be. I can tell you this, and I say this as a professional, this is one of the few porn games..let me repeat PORN GAMES..that actually transcends what is thought of as mere fap material. This has an excellent plot, keeps you engaged, and delivers very satisfying results. I was always taught that for every negative hurled at you, you need to hear like 10 positives..that's how much power one negative thing has in terms of stimuli! So, Ill join the chorus of others who thank you for giving us this gift that most others need a team to accomplish. You truly are one of a kind in a sea of these kinds of stories. If I can offer my own personal bit of advice in closing.. I always found it easier to read the negatives and think even they care so much about my story to 1. Take the time to write something 2. Want more content. At the end of the day though, your core support group are your actual fans, they're your family, they are why you do what you do. We believe in your vision, we fell in love with your characters, and if it takes a year waiting for something we consider truly special...well that makes the sugar all the more sweet.
