Hey guys... the wait is almost over.
This is just a quick post talking about what to expect as we near the end of the month.

I'm not going to go into the details of it since I don't like talking about my grandpa's health publicly. But we had a little scare that had to be dealt with and I was in the hospital with him for 3 days. But he's been home for a few days and he's doing better.

That puts the update in a weird spot where my expected finish is around the 30th and I'm worried that any little setback could push me over into the first few days of July.
So far everything is going well... but I'm making this post more as a precaution than anything.

Normally it's just "Oh, it'd just be a few days difference... no biggie." but there's a billing cycle in between those dates that makes things very spooky for me.
I hate the idea of billing people before I've delivered what I promised... and that should be shown by the fact I've paused I believe 9 out of the last 13 months even though I worked throughout them all. I normally would just pause and not even think about it.
And to be totally transparent the only reason I'm even considering not doing so if the update falls on the first few days of July is because I have had a lot of expenses recently. From all of the doctor visits for my eyes, the moving across the country into a new home, the wedding and honeymoon, and preparing for a child... I'm not saying I'm broke but I'm nearing a point I'm not comfortable with in case an emergency were to happen.

So all of that is to say that I don't think I'll pause this month... but instead I'll make the update available to all active and former patrons (former patrons will receive the update through discord).
So if you're uncomfortable with supporting me before I deliver the update you have every right to unpledge and repledge in the future when you feel it's appropriate or never again at all. You'll get the update either way.

The only reason I feel comfortable to do this is because I know how close the update is to finishing. There's just these last few animations to render and last few bits of script to finish.
No more tinkering. I know the update would be out at most by the 3rd/4th and that's if an issue happens.
So if it does happen this way then I'd promise that if the update weren't out by July 7th (Just giving myself a little breathing room) I'd pause pledges for an entire year.
I still am aiming for the 30th... the point of this post is just to inform of a possibility.

A quick breakdown of what release day will look like also.
There's no set time... it'll be out the moment it is done. And this goes for if it releases on the 30th as well.

Tier 4 - Instant access

Tier 3 - Access 1 hour after tier 4

Tier 2 - Access 1 hour after tier 3

Tier 1 - Access 1 hour after tier 2

Tier 0 - Access 1 hour after tier 1

former patrons - Access along with tier 0 (through a channel on discord, so make sure you're in the discord before unpledging.)
(To join the discord all you have to do is link a discord account to your patreon account and it will automatically join my server.)

Also just so you guys know... there's other things planned for July. There's client polls, a monthly render set, and birthday renders planned... along with a few other surprises. So there's more than just the update.

I'm sure this post will lead to a lot of people calling me a 'milker' and comparing me to other devs... but I've done my best to show that I'm not here to take advantage of anyone. I'm making this post well before the end of the month so everyone knows what's going on. It will not be a common occurrence and is only happening this once because of certain circumstances and a need to know I can support and care for my family in case of an emergency.
I've talked about how much I care about you guys and how much I care that you get your moneys worth. This was originally a 400 render update that I decided to turn into the larger update that was planned for after that one... and it's led to all of this.

But hey... life is in a much better spot and I'm excited to talk about it more in the future.
For now I'm going to get back to work.

And one final reminder... still aiming for the 30th. This post is one giant if. I just want you guys to be fully aware of what to expect so you can adjust your pledges accordingly.

See you all soon.
Love you guys <3

If I may be so kind, considering how borderline hostile this thread has become with the live-ins and with anyone who simply questions BD on anything, expressing doubt on him on actually releasing the update (which to be fair, has happened since the beginning of February and sure with everything in real life happening it's understandable and such), or simply being new to the game and thread and asking if there is incest, only be rewarded with hostility, facepalms, and shamed simply because they happen to not read the OG post or some FAQ or go through the 2000+ pages that mention that there won't be any or even the 2000+ pages of repetitive talk...

Maybe I'm different in thinking that any feedback or criticism, be it good-bad-neutral, is truly fair play. Because that same feedback could make a difference down the road. In this case, it's been almost half a year since the supposed update was supposed to drop and in that time this game has lost patrons as well as fans of the game because of that, and yet even though we have been updated (Some of us at least, not everyone as is the case it seems) we can't doubt or question if the update will happen? That we are supposed to have no criticism at all? Not sorry for saying this, but I and certain others who are still here who feel the same as I do will keep expressing doubt and concern, even though he hasn't milked his paterons to which I commend.

If I'm being honest, I still am a fan of BD and of WVM. I love the characters, the fun of the story, and the number of possibilities there are. But at the same time of late I, and others, have been starting to lose interest in the game, if not the game entirely. And even when I hear that there could be a chance where the update "could happen by the end of the month", I can't help but express doubt because of how things have gone so far. Sure, real-life takes precedent and is entirely uncontrollable, but you can't expect everyone to fall into line and have patience or question how things have gone on.

Truth be told, i haven't been on this thread for several months..i saw that it didn't have any update for a while so i wondered what happened, i didn't want to get over the whole 2000 pages (i tried, but lot of convo about the game and theory..which is nice..but not helpful in the matter lol) to find out and also seeing the answer others got from asking stuff, i just went my way. So your post quite reflect my thought.

This is the type of game where there should be a Nota Bene in the OP, explaining what happened and where we at and when should drop the update..it's complicated to find those info into the crazy amount of pages and if you ask you can get a lot of colorful answers, going from the facepalm with no explanation from the look for yourself (good luck with that..).

It's like asking questions is considered being insensitive..while yeah, most of the times you just don't know and there is just too much pages to find out the info.
From reading out, i just understood update should be around the corner as for what happened (covid?) why it took so long or is it a bigger update? no clue.

In an attempt to limit the excessive number of "I'm new here, and I don't want to read through 2000+ pages of posts I will ask my question anyway"s

I would like to propose an albeit ridiculous suggestion, perhaps on the first post in the thread, include an area for FAQ's? And perhaps one of the trusted fans or mods can keep it updated?

Topics included would not just be limited to:

"When's the next update?"
"Will there be incest in this game?"
"Why is BD avoiding incest?"
"What is the most recent update on progress from the Dev?"
etc...

Thoughts?

This is a porn thread. We don't use that logic here!!!

Joking aside, this would be a good idea, even though there already a fanboy keeping up with the supposed FAQ, but to be fair who really pays attention to that. At best there should be a big bold words on the front page, without a spoiler tag, that says (There will be no incest at all, even if the vibe suggests otherwise.)

I love this idea because there is some people who are curious and having this will help answer many questions of those people with the spam of trolls on the subjects you mentioned.

I was actually meaning a drop down menu like the Genre spot, not a stand-alone link. Sorry for the mis-clarification. This was in no intent to discredit all of the hardwork that Loco has been putting into the mini-FAQ. I just figured a drop down menu might be utilized a little more than an additional download.

what if ..and bare with me here...people would take the time to read the first page?the quick links?
I know it's pretty hard...but what if they take the time to do that?
it would solve 90% of the newcomers questions...update/incest etc etc etc....

to be fair if it hadn't been pointed out just now i wouldn't have seen this mini faq link.
I would also never click on it since i would assume it is faq about the game itself (like help about mini game etc) and not about the situation around the game (what happened, why no update for so long etc..). Honestly to people in the "know" it seems quite straightforward but for people like me that come once every blue moon it's not that simple to figure those things out and nothing really point out to it. But, thanks for pointing it out just now, i got the info now .

I'am a teacher and i really hear alot of the same story's that Braindrop say in a month, But i cannot feel or see any deceptive intent in it.
It looks like alot of excusses everytime he says that there wil be a update and he pushes it back some people really have bad luck in there life.

I want to say one think that is maybe not that populair people say that if he was employed that this can happen i can say he already was fired of that job bosses dont like to pay people that dont work.
Little example my little brother has a chronical illness and he did a fine job at his work till he got more problems with it after a year of more sitting home then on the job he got fired. (even the state payed the most of his salary)

Now some words to Braindrop i hope he got some good news and that his life wil be less eventfull the next couple of years and that he can enjoy married life and his job (he got payed to do this so its his job).

And now for the people that support him its good to defend a game that you like of a dev that you like BUT there are sadly enough examples on this site from devs that are not as good as Braindrop. I know its a bad habbit to mention other devs but using ICSTOR to compare with Braindrop is just a insult Braindrop gives regular updates yes most of them are pushbacks but still he talks (only complaint its most always behind that paywall to read it.)

So people just relax and wait go on steam play some games get some summerdeals and enjoy the summer.
And if you want to fap of enjoy the story just play it again it has enough playtime or just find another game here.

NOTE: Be happy that this dev not put some extra tags in the update without saying it and destroy his game.

I would agree that constructive feedback is useful, regardless of whether it's positive, negative, or neutral in flavour. I would also say, however, that a lot of the complaints that happen aren't constructive feedback.

People just say "I don't like this" without giving much indication of how it might be improved, or without looking to see whether or not it's something that's been brought up and discussed before. Or they talk about the delays in the update coming out, and how it reminds them of other Devs who've acted horribly - even if the comparison in this case was fair (which it is not since Braindrop routinely pauses donations when there are delays), I don't see how that's supposed to be constructive. No Dev is going to come out and admit that they're just stealing money from their patrons, they're going to say they're working on it, and whether or not an individual believes them is generally not going to be influenced by other people telling them they're wrong, or talking about what's happened to other games.

I definitely agree that there have been instances where people legitimately wanted to give feedback, and they were treated poorly. I don't like when that happens either. I think it's a symptom of dealing with the other stuff I mentioned in the last paragraph too frequently. It still isn't something that should happen, it's an explanation, not an excuse.

Does it suck to have to wait longer? Sure, but I'll wait as long as I have to. Do I personally think BD deserves the benefit of the doubt? I do, but everyone else has to make up their own minds about that. If you don't feel the same, that's your prerogative, but what gain to anyone comes out of saying "there's never going to be another update" or trying to get people to drop pledges (not saying this was anyone in particular's goal, but it's been brought up on the forum before so I thought I'd include it)?

If another update never comes, you get to say I told you so, sure. But there will always be people who will say "well there's still tomorrow" or next week, or next month, etc. And if you actually like the game, and want it to continue, making pledges drop might cause delays, or stop production entirely if you're wrong about the Dev's intent (since they might have to start looking for other ways to earn money).

To be clear, the "you" in the above statements isn't meant to be directed at anyone specific, but to people who call for this kind of thing in general. I don't know any specific person's motivations, or goals.

Anyway, I hope we can all have friendly discussions, regardless of differing opinions in the future.

Constructive criticism is a great thing. Lying and making up facts to make your point is not. In the last 6 to 7 weeks patreon numbers have grown.
