I get it that BD doesn't want to implement incest due to Patreon guidelines and for other personal reasons, but still I feel that it does leans towards a more sexual interaction than a family-friendly relationship with (at least Azel, but also the other 'family members'). For instance, MC being told to get lewd with Azel by Rachel, having a POV that closes up at her cleavage or butt, having her being scantily dressed, kissing her passionately on her mouth in public, lifting her up with MCs hands on her butt, having her walk in the room during lewd interactions with other girls, and so on... Those are not really traditional (step)mother-son interactions if you ask me.

Which also means that you cannot blame people that they are confused about future romances between these characters. The idea of a more sexual relationship with these characters are planted in the players' mind, because all of the suble interactions (as stated above) nudge them that way.

This all could've been prevented if the persons who are related to the MC were way more vanilla, instead of being such teases. I mean, just make 'em less curvy, hot and skimpy dressed and change the kisses to the cheeks, instead of the mouths. I do understand this would the make related characters way less interesting and even obsolete, but hey, that's the downside of creating an adult game with family members living under the same roof as your harem...

The problem is, even if you reject the intrusive thoughts and actions (as stated above), Azel is still quite needy and touchy with the MC, which If I'm being honest, I find the whole needy, huggy and kissy thing quite annoying and that's my dilemma when playing WVM, some people like it, others perhaps, like myself, doesn't, but what can we do, so it's whatever.

And to be fair, after the MC found his biological family (quite literally), I thought Azel perhaps would've found her groove back into a normal life, taking a job again and keeping herself busy, but then we had the whole (I don't know my place anymore) from her and we get the whole "let's stick together like glue again, because..." and we're here. But then again, you already have your biological mother, on paper and from everyone's perspective on the game, Azel isn't your stepmother anymore, although the MC feels like she is, but now incest isn't a thing FOR AZEL, I think the story could branch out and break the incest-restriction by maybe transfering the papers back to the MC's biological mother, and let people finally date Azel if they want to, it's not like they're blood-related.

But again, I'm not into incest and I myself find Azel quite needy, so what the fuck do I know.. Let people bang her if they want, just bend the lore a bit and get rid of the whole family drama with MC and Azel, leaving them free to date if they want to, I don't know.

You can nearly read between the lines in the game that BD is struggling with this. Which makes the game less immersive for everyone.

I have no idea how long this game is supposed to be and where the end is. However let's say that BD decides to end the game after the first semester/year of college. The m/c considered that he could go for pro at that point to resume his dream. That kind of switch to the story could allow BD to switch from patron to another money support system that doesn't care so much about incest in his game. It's a possibility. Probably unlikely, but the dude could find a way to include that part of the storyline then.

Course I still think that if we finish that first year we'll all probably be retired and unable to get a hard on without viagra.

As far as I've read BD has no intentions to implement incest, due to lack of personal interest (although his writing suggests otherwise). I just get the feeling that he is stuck and that also limits his creativity.

But I do agree that he perhaps needs a breather by finalizing this story, so he can regain his confidence without all the mixed signals. By streching this story - without changing this major controvercy - it will ultimately result in a loss in followers/patrons.

I definitely agree with this, even though she's his mom on paper, she can just give up the papers, and then have a relationship and it won't be incest by even Patreon's guidelines. I mean, he can still call her mom and I'm sure they'll even do roleplay, but it won't be incest.

There's absolutely no reason why Azel can't become an LI, and she's been built up more than anyone out of his family, so I definitely think it needs to happen, of course it should be optional though.

I think that the reason so many love Cedar is that she didn't immediately fall in love with the MC. Unlike the rest of the girls, she is resistant, almost completely against him. The uniqueness of that stance, versus all the others who jump right on him, and the fact that she relinquishes her secrets very slowly allows the reader to "grow" into her. In nearly every game, and in real life, I tend to go for that kind of woman... The difficult kind. I think that is the attraction to that character.

I am not at all interested in incest. Adding that would destroy what is built in the Cedar relationship. Changing that would damage what many of the game's followers enjoy about Cedar, the difficult relationship. Yes, there is always going to be the incest crowd that would prefer to have her. Or the harem crowd that thinks all characters in the game should be available. But not everyone wants all of that.

It is ok to love your sister without loving your sister.

This kind of branching of Azels story is actually pretty easy to implement and would fit in the characters development. Especially since it her dialogues nudge you towards the idea that the MC is the man she is missing in her life, and not like a missing son kind of way.

Wouldn’t you agree that you would still be interested in her story, if she would be depicted less lewd after the whole ‘lost sister’-revelation? Her lewd appearance before the revelation can be explained, because of her dominant behaviour towards her classmates. But after the revelation, it could easily be changed without breaking the character development, right?

I mean don’t get me wrong, the way he portrays Azel is very loving and I respect that this might’ve been his way of processing grief on a personal matter. But it shouldn’t have found its way into an adult game, where you basically get lewd with every girl you talk with. It just doesn’t fit the total image of the game. Instead he would’ve been better off by creating a non-sexual VN with characters like Azel, because people would’ve respected that more and would see it more as an hommage.

And besides, if Azel (and perhaps Willow/Wendy) are such close-to-his-heart characters, he should’ve gone easy with the clingy stuff. Otherwise it only hints that he does have these kind of feelings towards the characters, but that he does not want to state it openly.

Not a ton to share this week.
There was a change in my plans and I've spent a portion of this week organizing / cleaning / purging my files.
My Daz was crashing multiple times a day and it was super annoying so I did fresh installs of everything and things have been more stable since.

The first beta of Episode 10 will be out soon. Possibly tomorrow but most likely Monday.
I've decided to go ahead and work on the second beta alongside the first so I can build up a buffer to hopefully achieve the consistency that I'm currently lacking in release times. So most of the second beta is already finished and I'll be keeping about an update's worth of a buffer on hand. So this second beta will be released as I finish the 3rd beta... if that makes sense.
I'm happy with the amount of work I've put out in these past few months but I'm not happy with the inconsistent release times and I think making and maintaining this buffer will be huge in improving that consistency as if anything were to slow me down for any reason, I could eat into the buffer and then build it back up.

Due to these changes, this first beta will have sped up tier release timings since the first beta is taking longer to finish than originally planned.
I'll likely cut it in half and do 12 hour tier releases instead of 24.
Though, this will be the last update with sped up tier releases.

There will also be a lot of side content posted soon, Birthday renders will be posted shortly after the first beta and the client poll will be on Tuesday. Character sheets for June and July will be posted sometime this week and I'm still not completely certain how I'll handle the ditlo but I'll have an answer for that in the next dev report.

It seems like the MC was always openly loving with Azel, and from the memories we've scene, it looks like he was that way even with Cedy and Wendy before his father took him away.

It could be that by having the MC have these very openly intimate yet not sexual relationships with the women in his "family" Braindrop is trying to say that the reason that the MC is able to be such a good boyfriend to so many different girls is due to his being raised to love very openly.

If that's the case, well, I'm not sure that I completely buy it, but... whatever. There are many teen males who are so closed off they can barely do anything other than screw, much less cuddle. Maybe by making his MC an unselfish boyfriend and basketball star, BD is trying to say that you can be macho and sensitive at the same time...

I would like to believe that this is true, but I highly doubt that this is the case. If that was his initial intention, than he wouldn't create such a wholesome relationship with these characters, while also make them physically irresistable (for some). If so, than you are basically punishing everyone, no matter on which end of the fetish spectrum you are.
