I love how whenever the topic of music in games comes up you always get people coming out the woodwork to tell us about how they mute games. Like, nobody cares? Do you think that even a single person cares?

One of the reasons I love this game is precisely because I don't have to listen to some music that sounds like someone pitching their Kickstarter idea on repeat. Personally it takes me out of the experience. For me, the most sounds I like is some moans, and squishy sounds during sex, but even that can be grating if it's not implemented correctly.

I'd rather just let the Dev focus on knocking the big stuff out of the way before getting into these little nitpicks.

You mean like the people who by virtue of not listening to the music are completely irrelevant to a discussion about the music in games? Yeah that sucks.

Wait.. are you legitimately saying people choosing to not listen to music and letting the dev know, which therefore adds relevant data to to his question about if there is a need for it, if he should invest his time on something that people don't want or need, is irrelevant to to the topic at hand?

Let me put in simple steps that you can understand.

Should I as a dev spent time doing music.

a. Yes, music is life, I want it, I need it, i must have it or I won't play your stupid game.
b. Yes, but not important.
c. No, you got more important things to focus on.
d. Nah, not important I'll mute is any. Sorry you can't vote because Master of Puppets says so.
e. Meh, don't mind either way.

I've seen trolls and some retarded comments before but out right dismissing peoples opinions that are perfectly valid and relevant to the topic, takes the cake and also show's me you have zero concept on what the words relevant and irrelevant mean.

Edit: It's of particular interest to me, because I know of at least 4 people working on VN's where this is relevant and they've all asked the same question that BD has been thinking about, of which started this discussion. There was also another game in active dev on the site here, where this was a poll people could vote on, and I'm pretty certain of the options was along the lines of "don't care, i'm a muter".

Remember back in the day when we actually talked about the characters or events in the game and what we hoped we would see in future updates. I miss those times. Too bad now it is all just arguing about people's opinions.

Oh well here's to hoping for an extended bath scene with Stacy in the near future, while I watch you guys argue about music.

I am what you could call a music illeterate. I can't hum a tune to save my life. All that to say that I am not someone that can feel the music as much as the next person and it would take me tremendous amount of time to organise audio files for a game and it would not be good. On the other hand when I put my own music and play (youtube random) a game like WVM I sometime become anoyed at what I am listening to because the mood dont match at all. Even for someone like me for whom music is this almost abstract thing it still helps me get in the mood. And I am not even talking about ambient sound yet. I still think sound amd music are important even if it is a subject in wich I will always be a néophite.

When BD has doubts about his musical abilitys I see something that I can relate too. I agree that is talent and the abilitys that he has are better spent elsewere. But it does not mean that a budget for sound can't be amased and used to contract a sound or music profesional that could work part time or on contract on WVM. Sure it would most likely still be royalty free sound and music but it would still be better than what BD can do by himself. If done well it could bring a lot to WVM.

Is it worth it to dedicate a budget to sound and music? that is an other question to answer. In the mean time I am of the opinion that music would bring a lot to WVM as long as it doesn't take away from the rest of the great game that BD provides us.

Edit: I try to do a resonable take on the audio subject and put it in context in a post that took me some time to rite only to see, in the mean time, others saying that it is more fun to talk about the characters and their adventures and agreeing with them.

Music fits some games extremely well, like City of Broken Dreamers. Those types of games tend to be way more narrative focused and built to lead the player though a journey. Music is used in those games to prompt feelings and memories of the player to help solidify how they should feel in a particular moment, much like a movie would. A harem game with very little conflict like WVM wouldn't benefit from a soundtrack in the way those games do. In fact, it might take away from some players experiences if BD added a more playful and joking track during what the player views as a more serious and romantic scene.

And here's to hoping for an extended scene with...
* More Elizabeth greatness in both in the movie room scene and in the bedroom with the alternative choice to cream-pie Liz instead of edging.
* More Rachael greatness as she becomes one of MC's new official girlfriends in Day 9.
* More greatness with MC, Keyana and Brittany wholesome love fest.
* More Natalie & MC wholesome love with more cuddling & kissing in their birthday suits.
* And more Zoe, Harper, Jasmine, Tia, Creampie, and... and... i'll stop here for now.

It is relevant as we don't want that time wasted when it could be used on renders, writing and actually making the important parts of a vn :p
It's not relevant because adding music would have zero effect on your gameplay experience. You are literally the people who screech about optional content because the dev is 'wasting his time' on it.

Two things
1. I don't screech, never have
2. I don't have any issue with optional content. Content options are a welcome thing and worthy of the time it takes.

What isn't worth the time: is adding music. That opinion is revelant on the subject: "is music is needed in this vn" discussions.

Music is definitely not needed. There is, however a mod you may use if it's that important to you.

Got it, if we disagree we're bad, now can we make like Elsa and let this shit go.

On topic, I think at this point the MC needs to talk to Rachel about a large room sized matress!
