It took two years to complete that match, but only about 4 minutes for me to left click-spacebar through it. Literally no engagement in the entire thing except for who to flirt with. Black boxes, endless whinging and worthless circular dialogue, pointless distractions everywhere. 300k people watching but no more than maybe 25 people in the entire facility. Man, this game really shit the bed.

At this point I don't have to point out BD's scam behavior, because he clearly has no gas left in the tank. I get why he delayed it for this long now that I've seen it. This thing feels like a rough draft of a rough draft. I actually laughed out loud at the Ryker commercial, what a great unintentional metaphor for how disconnected from reality BD is.

I'm sure there will still be an audience for this because there is an audience for everything but wow. What an incredible decline.

I was glad that BD finally got it out, but was sad at the eventual result. The game has fallen so far off track and from any of the endearing qualities during the first year or more that I don't think I will waste any more bandwidth on it (sadly on metered internet, thanks Comcast!). Maybe if someone manages to do another update only download...

Based on the delays and excuses given, it was pretty obvious that BD was struggling to do the renders up to the last minute, and it shows. The changes to Katie this episode, Bailey the last one, and lots of details between the two (like the exploding height of the MC, the black boxes) all show a serious disconnect from previous work to the most recent releases.

I've seen several other games suffer this fate, but it's usually after a change in the dev team. I don't know if BD is outsourcing the work for WMV now, but it wouldn't surprise me.

If you want me to take injuries seriously in your game you as a writer have to take them seriously. You're telling someone who just suffered a serious concusion to sleep is the exact opposite thing you do.

I'm not sure I like that Harper is the one that kept Ethan on the bench, not Belle. I get she wants to protect Ethan but when they are losing so badly, one guy gets injured and another just quits, why is it such a hard decision to put him in?

I'm not even a sports fan but I can see why, let Ethan play...then the Briars bring out a 4th string pick (correct terminology for basketball?) And sacrifice that player by getting them to seriously injure Ethan, then they lose that player or maybe even the game but the Stars would be out their best player for multiple games. Even if they got stomped in this game it doesn't affect their standing in the actual season, morale & social standing sure. I feel they'd have wiped the court if he was allowed to play from the start but I do understand why a coach would keep their best player benched for an exhibition game vs a team who has it out for said player

I'm surprised Ch5 was out so shortly after Ch4, specially taking into consideration the amount of time it took for the previous updates. I enjoyed it though, the basketball match was good enough too and i'm glad to see some more progress with characters that had been forgotten.

As most people here, i'd rather MC didn't have a giant black square as a face, but with the exception of how it looks during sex scenes, i wouldn't say it's that horrible and i don't really care that much. I don't think my opinion is representative of the majority though, since it seems that the reasons i like this game are some of the things that people hate (huge harem with an insane amount of girls, power fantasy setting where everyone loves MC without any reason, etc)

After all that has happened i don't really expect much, but hopefully this is a sign that WVM will go back to an update schedule similar to that of the earlier days (or at least a decent one)

nah not going to happen BD claimed he stay up like 70 hours straight o complete this update and it almost killed him so he pushed back the updates agian

You might want to work on your observation and reading comprehension. Chapter 4 and 5 were supposed to be the same update, but it got split into several parts despite Patrons voting against it. I guess it looks like a positive to see back to back updates, even if it still less than what was promised, as a single update going back to November (and beyond).

Definitely 'and beyond'. Basically, the last two updates comprise what he had mostly done in 2021 and (officialy) kept rearranging and rerendering for almost two years.
You'd expect something really polished or thought-out after that - and a lot less very recent-looking story twists unless he completely redid everything from scratch not that long ago.

And with his supposed speed of 400-500 render output (his words) a month, even then this is underwhelming as this again was done (including the still missing update part 3) in November which means he should have been able to produce ~1k+ NEW renders since then.
I know, mental problems and stuff - which totally won't happen evar! again after he starts rendering these 52 mini-updates.

Even if you liked this update - how can one single update result in so many new Patrons with his record?
He should be observed first and unless he keeps his schedule up, no one should think about giving him money.

Let him prove he keeps doing what you like for say a hand full of updates in a row - or at least half a year. If the keeps his word and you are happy enough with the ever-changing models, (non)story, and other stuff, only then give him money - not in advance.

if you look at the last delay for an update in january and the date BD set to the 23th of March,and if you look at that time period between that two dates it is probably exact the time he needed to throw this 767 Renders update together,and looking at the work behind that now and how that all looks now it confirms to me that he had trown this update together in a haste.
looking at some of the girls say it all,and honestly 70 Hours without sleep??????

as long as he believes it going on almost 3 days without sleep with a wife and a child???

i myself had sometimes a period without sleep after a loooong nightshift at my FULLTIME job for like 30 Hours but that was it after that i was dead meat ^^

This will happen 100%. He even said that there will be no update until these weekly drops, and even then it will be like 2-300 renders, so literally, the missing parts will be the april weekly stuff (if those happen consistently... but we all know that we have to take his words with a grain of salt).

And THIS is the so often mentioned problem BD poses for other devs.
Because normally you would expect a VN to mostly continue on in the way it started. It's easy to say 'If you don't like duck faces, then don't support him'.
Problem is, there were almost none of them in the beginning when I did support him. And even when there were very few - I'm not doing my own game, you have to compromise, as most stuff won't be exactly 100% to your liking.
But after pledging a lot of money, in case of some people hundreds of $, changing the way of your game this dramatically ...

It makes people weary of new games - how can you estimate what is to come from a first mini-demo? You really can't.
But if everyone said 'we'll estimate your game for the next 10 updates first to be sure you are doing what you claim to be doing' before supporting it, unless it is a total passion project that most likely will get only very small or drawn out updates due to at least time constraints, it is very likely to get abandoned because of lack of support.

And to then see BD getting the money he gets for mostly hindering other VNs - doesn't make one more fond of him.

Jesus christ the guy needs to get his ego out of the drivers seat because even when he *does* release something, he's quadrupling down on every dumb decision he's ever made because people told him they didn't like it.

One can only hope that the patrons that are left dump this like the sack of shit it has became. What a waste, it had a lot of promise in the beginning.

He said he cant do big updates anymore so he will be releasing the 3rd chunk (1000 renders) in the month of april as weekly updates of 200-300 renders.
