Maybe after realizing he was trying to squeeze an impossible amount of things into single days, and resolving to go back and rework the timeline, it must have meant a shitload of things had to go into filling in those new gaps that were created if he is indeed spreading everything out. I have no doubt he is just as stuck on what exactly to do to fill in those gaps as he has gotten on everything else. No doubt it's why there has been so much talk of the rework coming but nothing happening.
I believe he painted himself into a corner and doesn't know how to get out. And the people who suck his ass and who are trying to justify sunken costs will never ask him how that rework is actually coming. They're much happier with him continuing the story as is and are resolved to wait until after the game is done before expecting any of the promised reworks. Because, let's face it, even getting him to produce consistently is a challenge and a chore lately. It's been for a while.

I know he's lying, this game has been on my radar from day 1 and that was clear 3 years ago, I was just entertaining the idea that if he were to somehow be telling the truth he'd actually come across worse.
Now that I think about it, that could be his master plan, be such an idiot that his patrons would rather secretly accept he's lying and still give him money to finish the game, while maintaining the plausible deniability that his excuses provide. It's all a charade, everyone knows, but no one wants to say it out loud in the echo chamber in case it bursts the bubble and BD kills the game. It's a hostage situation...
...or they're all idiots. That also works, but it's not as entertaining.
