Yep this is literally why I stopped work on a Yu-Ris game myself, didn't know how to solve the kerning issue.

However, recently I spoke to a guy who successfully translated a yu-ris game and solved this issue, this is what he said:
That's sound really complicated, i don't think that i capable of doing it, could you ask the guy for the set of pngs ? Thta would really help

what i did was just doing all (extracting text, editing, inserting text back, patching game and playing) with japanese locale enabled. I found that I won't have that spacing error that way.

If I try to play the game (patched) without the japanese locale on, there will be spacing issues, but if i switch locale and run it again, it will display itself fine.

for the record, this is how it looks when I run the game WITH jap locale ON, vs not jap locale on (english)

In the 3 examples, you can clearly see that running the game WITHOUT jap locale (2nd image in all the examples) messes up the spacing between characters, so some words like "decided" looks more like "deci ded".

Sadly this didn't work for me, I still got the spacing issues
