Were there any clues about how these options might manifest? I'm guessing forward infantry will mean more time with Sarge, and maybe Fatima (nobody is more forward than her), Securicorps will probably mean more time with our beloved security officers, But the others???

Nothing really concrete, outside of the descriptions I included in the screenshot. My guess is the same as yours, the training content for the branch will focus on their representatives, so Sarge for Infantry, Fiora for Med, Meera/Ayewn for Securi, and so on. I'm pretty sure the intention is to have all of the cadets align with a specific branch at some point by the end of the season, so they will probably be featured in the training/mission content for their respective branch too.
From the story so far, I feel like it would go something like this?
Flitecorps - Cici (already part of the branch by this point in the story)
Servicorps - Fatima (this is shaping up to be a resistance branch, and Fatima clearly aligns herself against the current regime)
Infantry - Sam (mentioned wanting to get into forward infantry a couple of times, plus this is the same branch his brother chose)
Securicorps - Cole (mentioned both securi and infantry at certain points, so if Sam is infantry, than this leaves Cole with securi)
Comfort - Anna (I remember going through some of the old Patreon posts, apparently there were polls way back for the new hairstyles that the characters got after being shaved. Anyway, the results of the poll had an influence on which branch Anna will end up in, and Ranli hinted that it wouldn't be one with fighting or cleaning, so it's most like comfort for her)
Comfort for Anna????... Really?? she is a math prodigy IIRC so Scicorps would have been my guess

I've dug up the post just to check. I'm not 100% sure, since he doesn't name the branch outright, but the hairstyle is literally called "the Marilyn". I figure the hairstyle named after a sex symbol suggests the comfort section. But he also says that it probably won't be a servile branch, maybe that discounts comfort too? In which case the Scicorps could fit?
That said, the poll was years ago at this point (2019, to be exact), he could have changed his mind at some point. As you said, later in the game it is shown that she is quite adept at maths, so Scicorps could also work.
I noticed that in your ports the menu can disappear. How do I fix it? Tried swiping down, up, all different ways and it doesn't work. It's hard not being able to load on game and needing to restart it instead.here is my unofficial android port of SpacCorpseXXX v2.4.3.

from now on my android ports of Ren'Py games have a 2nd, persistent save location like windows. if you uninstall an app, the save files and persistent data remain intact.
therefore the app needs the permission to access the public external storage (or a new one on Android 11), because it has to read and write outside its own external storage directories.

I agree with you, but would guess that those who enjoy playing the MC as sub/bottom all went for the comfort section, while the other sections split the votes of those who didn't.
I don't know if there's been any polls or such for this, but I would also assume a higher percentage of sub/bottom players among the patrons than among people here. There aren't that many good games around for people who enjoy that type of content, so what options there are might attract the paying customers.

You would think that sub/bottom players are the biggest patreon demographic, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Last december, when the Cole dream sequences were being developed, Ranli did a poll on which Cole routes people picked, and the Subs were heavily outvoted by those who picked Lover and Dom (Dom was 29% of the votes, Lover 24%, Sub 16%). Even Ranli was surprised by the outcome, lol.
But this time, it seems like the loud minority ended up really showing up, Comfort is at 182 now, while the Scicorps is in 2nd at 99 votes.
Lmao, I got your point. Scicorps is also likely, but I don't think Comfort is that wild of an idea. Both Anna and the MC had been brought up to be extremely repressed and religious, but are now discovering and starting to explore their sexuality after leaving their planet. She could find out at some point that she actually really enjoys sex and end up pursuing the comfort section because she doesn't have an affinity for fighting and represses her talent for maths because of her mother. And she could still utilise her smarts with this branch, she could be like a courtesan spy or something.
Honestly, I wouldn't even be thinking about the comfort section if it wasn't for that Patreon post. Like what does the "Marilyn" hair have to with science?
According to the game files, it's by Robyn Adele Anderson. If you're ever curious about the in-game music, you can just go into the files (game folder -> sound folder), you can find all of the music there. The files usually have the song name and the artist in the title. I think most of these he got through youtube to mp3 conversion, so you could probably even find the original Youtube videos by googling the file names.

As a sub, I'd like to add that a lot of subs don't like bullies. I know subs that refuse to play Cole's sub path because of the bully component. That probably skewed the percentage.

That's pretty interesting. For someone who isn't really into sub or S&M content in general, it's honestly pretty hard to parse what is and isn't appealing about dom characters. Like at worst, the dom characters in erotica I've read can be horrifically abusive to the subs and are constantly trying to humiliate them. I've figured that that sort of thing just appeals to some people, but I guess it's either writers not knowing how to write good S&M content or just a very tiny minority of subs actually enjoy it.
But regardless, iirc, the ignore option was only around 4-5%, so it's still not a very big number. I guess that this time, in addition to sub patrons primarily or only voting for comfort section, the other votes are just split a lot more amongst other players.
I guess the other potential draw for comfort is that it is the section that would have the most sex scenes, which I guess is pretty important for an adult game. But like, this is Spacecorps, the MC isn't really starving for sex. If anything, he has trouble not having sex because everyone he meets keeps coming onto him.
Dominance/Submission isn't the same as Sadism/Masochism，there can be shared elements but Dominance can take a wide variety of forms that have nothing to do with pain or extreme sensations e.g. A Parental/Teacher figure who guides and protects their sub, A Pet owner who coddles/plays with their beloved sub, Goddess/Royal who is served by their sub.
Sadist & Masochist can certainly fit as a type of D/s, but it has it's own range of subtleties... I don't know much about those though, thats not my scene.

I mean, it depends on what you consider "sex". We get a lot of dream sequences, hallucinations, whatever the fuck else. Actual sex is rare. Rarer still in the gay path. As far as I recall, gay players went so far as blowjobs out of dream stuff. Most of the time handjobs.
Maybe people want him to actually have sex and for dream shit to stop.
But that's just me reading into what people might have thought when choosing this.
What I don't agree is with your assumption that only sub players picked comfort. Whoring doesn't have to be a submissive act.

Even when it comes to gay content, there's been some sex. Off the top of my head, the MC can have sex with Lancelot, Ayewn, and one of the demon guys (as a top) and with the Shapeshifter (both). In the Bound by Night missions the MC also has both bottom and top sex scenes.
I can understand that some people may not have the patience to wait until the relationships between the MC and other characters develop enough for them to start getting very intimate, but I was under the impression that this was the reason the dream and imaginary sequences were being made in the first place. So far, all of the dreams, except Sam's, end with the MC having intercourse with the characters, for example.
It doesn't have to be, but so far, the way the comfort section has been described (lying down and taking it, doing everything the client asks you to do), and judging by that one comfort section holodeck mission by the guest writer (learning to satisfy the client in different ways and how to appeal to different clients, learning to be in a submissive bottom role for the client), it doesn't seem very likely. I mean, there probably could be a couple of clients who ask to be dominated, but it doesn't seem worth it to pursue the comfort section for these couple of scenes.
give it time I'm sure something will emerge eventually... A lot of time though, this project isn't breaking any speed records.
