Might have been asked in the past but I couldn't find an answer (or probably didn't know what exactly to search) but how can we "un-mod" the game again? Seems like the saves can't be loaded without the mod so on a new update, you either have to wait for the mod to get updated or install the old/current mod version. Not really a big deal to be fair but still it would be nice to know if it's possible to un-mod our saves somehow.

I'm not entirely sure how to un-mod, it seems to me like the saves have a dependency, I assume on the rpy script from the mod and it doesn't know what to do when the files are missing.

What I do though, is just install the available version of the progress mod - even when v.0.35 came out, I just installed the guide mod v.0.34 and it worked to help the saves load correctly.

Yeah, it's not possible. It would require a degree of save editing beyond any utilities that are out there.

The easiest thing to do when an update comes out is to just grab the update only file. That way the old version of the mod is already in place.

I see, thank you both for the answer. You solution is what I actually do anyway. I never download only the update file as I prefer a "clean" folder with proper filenames (having the right version number) but the "old" mod version is always available so its quick to just dump the mod into the new downloaded game. Was just curious if it would be possible to un-mod is all.

I wonder why I have 2 characters that have a bold font, white colored 「!」 exclamation next to their name? I see no event or hint for either one. Their name and stats are all bold too.

I can't answer that question without a save file.

Their name and stats aren't bold; they just look that way because you're using the dark mode mod.

Actually, question for people using the dark mode mod (which seems pretty popular): how are you getting it to work? Because the version of progress_screen.rpy linked in the dark mode mod post is very old and wouldn't work with the current version of the mod.

I attached this file. Is this what would help?
For the dark mode, I think I just didn't use the .rpy file that it comes with and the dark theme still stayed. Don't remember well

Yep, that was the right file.

Everything looks fine for me when I load it. I know that Shiyaromi - who also uses dark mode - experienced the same issue, though. Given which characters have an unnecessary ! and the fact that the ! are white rather than the character's color, I suspect that the issue is caused by the dark mode mod. I'll look into it when I get a chance.

As I thought, the problem was caused by using the dark mode mod. Those extra ! are the same color as the white background and so are normally invisible.

Try the attached version of the mod and let me know how it works for you. You'll have to go to the Options menu (from the Progress screen) and turn on Dark Mode:

That should change the screens to versions that work better with the dark mode mod.

Edit: Okay I'm still not sure what I've done right or wrong to my files, but I got my second game to work properly with everything now after trying many things. Nevermind for all this stuff below

Wow you are awesome; thank you adding this! But lol I really have no idea what is wrong with my game because this fix sort of works and doesn't for me. I even downloaded a fresh second copy of the game and mods but that didn't work either o_O

So here is me trying it: Load save > open progress list > see white ! and bold text on a few characters > click event tracker options > turn on dark mode option > go back to progress list and see no change.
Then it fixed when I tried this: Click any name OR click "hints" > click "Back" > see progress list is now fixed for all (no bold or white !).

But doing anything else returns the same bold text and white ! .
This 'fix' only works with the dark mode option turned on of course. With it set to off, nothing changes when clicking a character name and then clicking 'back.'

Also, character Touka was recently added to the list and now they are showing the white ! with bold font as well.
Yasu was added along with Touka, but Yasu is normal :p

I tried a completely fresh 0.35 version as well as no dark mode mod. Maybe someone is able to help or knows whats going on?

EDIT also the quickmenu seems to have disappeared if thats of any help

Replace your progress mod\code.rpy file with the attached one. That should fix it.

The quickmenu disappearing is a known issue with the game (it has nothing to do with the mod). If you search the main discussion thread, I think a fix was posted.

I mentioned this in the OP, but just to reiterate: I moved some variables around, so I recommend that you delete your existing "game\progress mod" folder before installing the new version of the mod. I'm not sure that it's necessary, but better safe than sorry. This only applies to those already using the mod.

Excuse me, how do I correctly download and use this progress mod, nothing I do seems to work
1. Download the "LiL 0.36.0 Progress and Guide Mod.rar" file
2. Extract the files
3. Copy them into your Lessons in Love install folder
4. If correctly installed, there should be a "progress mod" folder within your "game" folder
