I think the main reason it is hated is because it is loved. NTR is the exact opposite, to the other most popular style, Harem. Basically every passionate defence of NTR results in a passionate attack. Like all long standing arguements, at some point the attacks pre-empt the defense. The reason is one side or both just cannot understand the other.

While I don't give a crap what other people like, I am one of the harem lovers. I cannot understand why someone would enjoy an anti-power fantasy. Couple that with what feels like a rise in NTR content, which I am willing to admit maybe confirmation bias, and I can understand the frustration towards NTR. I think a lot of people take it too far but it's a forum on the internet, so meh.

You know people need something to release their frustrations on and ntr is the perfect target for that at the moment. Like in the past you could for example be mean towards gay people if you needed to vent but nowadays that's a bit icky if you do that, you might even get banned here I think. Now ntr is just the perfect target for that, like who's gonna defend it? They're silly cucks after all they like to be humiliated, hehe. So everyone's free to take a shot if they feel the need to. What do you think, does that make any sense? I know that's not the only reason but I think it's a valid theory

I think this is as good a reason as any. There definitely isn't one reason. People do love to hate on things, pretty common.

Overall as others have said NTR is the opposite of harem since it means losing loved ones rather than gaining them, the nature of NTR is self-defeating. However... we need to talk about differences between the fetish itself and how you use it in games.

We need to talk about 2 types of games:

-Games that are NTR in nature: Basically it either doesn't have a happy ending for the MC or if it has it at most you get 1 or 2 scenes which makes the game nature over 90% of NTR scenes with little to no rewarding of the MC.

These are the types of games that tend to generate the most negative feelings but also the ones that a player that lacks said fetish should avoid AT ALL COSTS. It will only frustrate you and possibly will develop you into a hater of said fetish.

-Games that have NTR mechanics but aren't focused on it: The thing with NTR is that it adds dynamism towards static games, it isn't the only way to add it but it's one of the ways, overall contrary to NTR games the point is that the MC can find happiness, end up with his harem and be an absolute winner, but there are obstacles in the road.

Perhaps it's a strategy game in which your female generals can be captured by enemy nations, perhaps there are some urgent events or quests that are a must to prevent it, or perhaps you aren't the only wannabe harem king in the zone. No matter which it can enhance the gameplay and make the situations more interesting and varied. Because victory has value, you bested the other nation/rivals or whatever obstacle and you have earnt your harem.

To end the games with a NTR nature should remain at a tiny % of the game, but NTR mechanics can be quite valuable in games with gameplay, since they add a sense of victory and dominance compared to games that lack it and that are just following a story.


P.D: Having said that there are many games in which characters have sex with each other and that's not NTR, if there is no jealously or some sort of emotional link between the characters then it doesn't fall under that flag, if in a game a random girl A gets raped by a monster you aren't getting NTR'ed by said monster. It may be a scene to show how unforgiving and dangerous monsters can be, it can be more on the voyeur aspect, but just because your MC isn't getting the action doesn't mean it's NTR.

I agree, usually in NTR games, corruption is a well developed theme even though they fall into some clichés, they still manage to create an interesting story.

To piggyback a bit off of this, there was a time where almost ever thread had people begging for NTR where it didn't belong. Now obviously we have a bit of the opposite with the "is NTR avoidable". But at one point it was pretty obnoxious. That might have breed some hate.
