Thanks for reporting this, it will be fixed in the next version.

I wasn't thinking that there was people using the table view, I've made it just for fun ;).
I actually prefer it for a quick overview.

Looking forward to the next release.

The table view will see more usage when an sorting option for storage used is in place.
Such tasks is more fitting for a listed view like that.

Note that the expansion is still broken on it.

i kinda like the table view as well for a quick overview but i would love to see the table view having a different amount of listed games compared to the normal overview.

seeing as most information is toggled when you select the + i personally would prefer having more listed. I know that it defaults to "browse f95 zone" but if it could default to "owned" games i would love to let it just see all of my games in a scrollable format instead of the next/previous buttons to browse between pages.

Reckon that isn't for everyone so don't know if it's somehow possible to make settings for that table view so people can choose what the list shows by default and how many items listed per page?

since last update installing games through the game manager is broken for me.

if i open the info page on a game or use the install button doesn't really matter but what happens is that the game manager makes the proper folders and extracts perfectly, however the version info gets written to another game.

for example i've tried installing "distant realities v 0.1" and every part of the extraction process goes perfect, however the game "Harem Hotel" gets the v0.1 info and location of the executable

it doesn't seem to matter if i use an archive or copy from a folder, nor where i use the install button, sometimes closing the program helps but around 9 out of 10 times its doing this for me.
That's strange, when I try everything works fine. From which button are you installing games?

well it didn't matter where i clicked the install button, from the popup, from the games detailed info page (with the screenshots and such) or when i choose to edit the game and then click the install option.

i had some issues with my server where my games are installed, hard drive is failing so ordered a new one. In the meantime i decided to start fresh with a new game list and fresh install of the games.

During this process i noticed something weird, for example when i do a search for "harem" and have multiple games listed in the search results and decide to install "harem hotel" there's a chance the info gets written to another listed game.

When i search for "Harem Hotel" and only have this one game listed in the search results it's working flawlessly. I managed to install 59 games this way and none of them had the issue.

Any ETA on custom tags?

And another thing that'd be helpful is more overview & options when it comes to updating games and handling multiple versions.
Right now when I install a new update, it creates a new folder of the game for the new version, leaving the old one alone - which I don't mind, that can be helpful.
But I'd like some indication of games where multiple versions are present, so I can decide whether or not I wish to remove the old version.

This would probably work very well with the multi-episode functionality, basically allowing one game entry to link to multiple folders and multiple exe files.

So a game like: "Roundscape Adorevia" would have multiple install directories listed for every version I've installed. Using the Lightning icon launches the latest version, right-click on the lightning allows me to select which version I wish to launch.
For a game that has multiple episodes, it would work pretty much the same, multiple install directories all managed by one overarching entry of "Insert Episode Game Name". Right click on the lightning also allows me to select an option to make list-launch the default for this game (or remove it), which results in left-clicking automatically opening the list as if I'd right-clicked.

These are, in my opinion, currently the three biggest features that require implementation.
Better version control, support for multi-episode games, and custom tags.

One thing i think i would love would be Steam integration of some kind.
To be able to mark a game as owned on steam with launch and install commands triggered by the UI and update version automatically updated.

This would make sense as more and more titles are coming to Steam which they are!

Like for installing games you could just run `steam://install/852480` to install for example
Or `steam://run/852480`to start the game itself.
Run will always trigger an install if not installed so just the one command is actually needed for this!

More and more titles are added to Steam that is also on F95. Having the client support both sides and an easy fashion would also push people more to buying the title officially aswell!

`steam://uninstall/852480` could also be used with the combination of an archive feature. To keep it as owned but not installed.

Actually, the more i think about this. An whole Steam mode would make sense. Swaps out much of the buttons for Steam Buttons and adding the Steam Store/Hub as a link to the addition to the normal links.

While most of the people use English. And esp when most games are also in English it makes sense.

Though, the UI elements could be in an xml (or any good text format) language format allowing users to copy and translate it if wanted, This will remove the need for you to maintain the FR version while at the same time allowing those that want to translate it to do so on their own terms and share it with you to push it as an official option in the future.

Know that generally French, German and Spanish have it more common to be catered too when it comes to language. The rest of Europe, esp Scandinavia and the Netherlands have a great English understanding.

I say remove it now, with the plans to add a more dynamic language system based on community xml files in the future is the way to go. There will always be some users that want it in a certain language no matter what.
But all of that depends on the need of the community.
Remove it now, if backlash/requests for languages. Plan to expand to an modular system for the UI languages.

Just to let you know : the new tag system is in progress. I've changed database structure (from “MySQLicious” solution to
“Scuttle”), filtering is working fine and really faster. Now I have to work on managing custom tags.

Why not just use SQLite? You REALLY shouldn't need any more than that.
Huge programs that is many times more advanced than this client is snappy and fast with SQLite and don't need an upgrade either. So why the weird off-brands instead of the tested, true and stable option?

“MySQLicious” and “Scuttle” are not database engines, I use Hyperfile that comes with windev, it's powerful enough for what I'm doing.

They are design patterns commonly used to store tags, you can find a good article . I was using MySQLicious with full text, but it was slow on select queries and I had a problem with tags "containing" another tag. For performance toxi would have been better.
With "Scuttle" option I don't have to check if a tag exists before assigning it to a game. So I started with it, requests in both Scuttle and toxy are almost the same, so I'll probably switch to toxi latter.

Just to verify before I go adding my games, there is no way to point it at the Games folder and it will try to auto add or suggest games to add based off folder names and EXEs? I realize this is still in early development, but just wanted to make sure manual entry was the only way right now.

Also I tested it with one game which is still in progress. If I click finished, will it still show a new update is available? I am finished with the current content, but waiting for the next update. I didn't see anyway to mark waiting for next update, but finished to me meant I was done completely with the game.

Yes manually installing games with the install feature is the only and fastest way to do this atm.
Search the game you want, click install and confirm the version you are installing, change it if its older or different and point it to the folder or archive to install.

As for bulk installing, it was a feature earlier but was buggy for sure. The dev need to work on it again and re-add it to the new UI before its usable.

As for game updates, updates will inform you when the version online is different from the version you have installed. No matter if you have played it or not. It all depends on your filter settings for how things are shown to you.

As for the finished state between versions. It does track which specific version you played, if you filter for unfinished titles. It will show titles you have finished on earlier versions but not this current version. So it works as expected.

EDIT: corrected finished state comment.

Now, a 3rd state which it currently have with the previously finished versions would be good. To be able to search for it specifically and call it playing.
It could be merged with the addition of an actual playing checkbox too technically. This way users can more easily filter for playing titles to only get titles they started on and not finished or titles they finished in the past that has new updates.

I think the idea of that sounds neat, though such a thing can make the UI even more messy. It could do it in the checkbox though with different icons, that way you dont need to make space in the UI for such a feature.

Version 2.13.1.4 is out
New tag system, you can add your own tags and set them to games.

You can manage tags on the preference window.
you can add tags to a game in it's edit window or in by clicking on the "tag" label in it's window :
