When I launch the game I can hear the music and sfx, but the only thing I can see is a picture of a loading screen. Can anybody help?

dont know if you ever got it to work, anybody that still has low fps, D3D9.dll file mentioned on this thread no longer works, to get the game to work....

1.
go here and download "dgVoodoo v2.62.1", if theres a newer version it should still work

2. open and navigate to ms/x86

3. drag and drop the D3D9.dll file to the games main directory

if its working you should see a watermark in the lower right corner of your screen

also the game does not support multiple monitors, it wont start unless disable the other monitors, in windows 10 you can use *windows key* plus P
This man right here is a fucking gold plated legend. After god knows how long of endless trial with even more error your solution FINALLY worked. Praise be yee

actual game, tried following but i got lost with the first step as i couldnt find "disk1" etc. i think im too dumb for this honestly
The download from the OP should have been an .ISO file. You can either use a program called Daemon Tools to mount the file (creates a disk drive on your computer pretending to have a disk in it) and use the auto run feature to setup/install the game or use winrar to open the .ISO file and click the setup file (I don't recommend). Once you get the setup/install pop-up, it should look like several buttons top to bottom in Japanese or weird characters (depends if you have Japanese local). The second button should be the actual install button which brings up an install wizard. You should be able to figure out the rest from there.

I know this has probably been answered about 5,000 times already, but I had RL on my old comp and it ran (had the extra dll files to make it run smoothly). But now that I'm trying to get it to run on my new computer, it wont load from the launcher. I'm running the .exe as Admin, and it opens the launcher, but it just closes if I click Play or Settings, and if I try running it in Compatibility Mode, I just get an error message.

Can someone assist me in figuring this out please?
Im also having a simular prob, it worked on early win10, it doesnt anymore.

Here is a little step by step installation tutorial, to make it work with recent Windows 10 versions :

1) Mount the ISO disc and install the game (bettter to let it install on C:\Illusion but works with other directories)
2) Download the newest version of dgVoodoo right here :
3) Launch dgVoodooCpl.exe, go to "DirectX" tab
4) In videocard, select "3D accelerated card"
5) VRAM : 1024 MB
6) tick the "dgVoodoo watermark" box, that way you will know if the fix is installed with your game
7) Click OK, go to "MS" folder, then "x86", copy the 4 files in this folder
8) Paste the 4 files in the game's folder, next to .exe files
9) Launch the game, check that the dgVoodoo watermark is present on the bottom right
10) Game fully works now :D

Anyone can explain the basics of RL Harem 2 please ? How does it work ?

Edit : OK, found it. There is just a little workaround to apply on the .exe

Here it is :

1) Download the RL harem mod linked above (here : https://f95zone.to/threads/rapelay-illusion.3115/post-2614084)
2) Extract, then launch the installer
3) Once installed (in your game's directory of course), you will need a tool : Locale Emulator.
Available here (official website) :

4) Install the tool. Now you can right click on RL Harem 2.exe and launch as "Local Emulator/Run in Japanese"
5) Now you can isntall your mods that have to be placed in "Mods" folder (mods are in the form of .7z files)

Thank you so much for responding, but I'm afraid I'm one of those slow ones that also break everything I touch. Step by step, this is what I did:
I mounted the ISO, used the setup option to install. I then installed DirectX9 using the one in the ISO. I downloaded dgVoodoo v2.62.2 using the link you generously provided. I extracted and launched using dgVoodooCpl.exe. I went to the DirectX tag. dgVoodoo vitual 3D accelerated card was the default option, so I left that unchanged. I changed the VRAM, which was next to it, to 1024 MB. the dgVoodoo watermarked was already ticked with the checkmark, so I left it alone. I copied the 4 files as needed, and pasted under C:\ILLUSION\RapeLay. Double Clicked Rapelay. Nothing happened. double clicked Rapelay English. nothing happened. Double clicked StartUpRP. nothing happened. Am I doing something wrong?

Try doing the same thing but in a different order basically. When I had this issue I took the D3D9.dll file only from the x86 folder. Then I copied the dgvoodoo.exe into the C:\ILLUSION\RapeLay folder and ran it.

Sorry late reply.
Hmm I had a problem like this once, all I did to fix it is simply uninstall and delete everything (aside from the ISO of course) and start again. Sorry I don't have another idea :/
