My suggestion for the checkmark: make it different icons depending on play-state:
unplayed (hasn't been played yet)
being played (has been played)
waiting for update (the user set this flag to indicate he finished the game in its current version, but the game isn't complete yet)
finished (game has been played through and is completed)

Is it me or is there something not going correct with the updates?
For example, an update came for Lust and Power from version 0.23b to 0.24a
I updated the game with the "install a game" option and the version number in the manager changed.
However when I started the game it still was 0.23b?
Also when I went to the folder it was in and started the game from there, it still was 0.23b

Grabbing a fresh set of icons might be wanted for a new shared vision of the icons.

Many sites has it for free and open to use. hmmm

Personally like pretty simple but colorful icons but maybe its just me.
Attached a zip of some i found on a random site. Would use something like it personally.

Having different icons for play states would be wanted for sure. But also a shared vision of the rest of the icon to have a shared design.

Attached zip contains 30 of them, more at the site (in the filename)

Currently, game manager has problems executing shortcuts. Some games require shortcuts to be launched (e.g. when launching a shortcut that activates locale emulator) but those currently always result in errors when designating the executable in the install process as well as trying to launch the game via the shortcut when afterwards linking the shortcut as executable.

Can this be fixed? Ideally there should not be a difference between launching an *.exe and a shortcut via game manager.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm still hoping for the multi-exe launcher ability. I keep coming across games that either have seperate episodes or have seperate exe files for main game & dlc.

You can install multiple versions of the game game with different version numbers or names.
It will all be listed in the detailed game page in the version tab.
You can launch each version there.
Sadly it will not ask you what version you want to launch when you just click play. It will automatically launch the newest install.

Saved thumbnails is NOT being saved across database updates.
When the game is updated from your metadata servers it will not always use the saved image as a thumbnail.
Have also seen that it saved to no image at all.

This is fustrating when you dedicate time to set them correct across your collection to the correct banner images.

EDIT: also a fustration in the current system is the play states not updating on version install.
If the game was already set as finished on the former version then it would stay finished after installing a new version.
Feel like you have to babysit the game to watch out for the play state when you really shouldnt need to.

Another point that is problematic is the version handling on new installs.
If you install a new version while still having one installed then it should either ask if you want to delete the old one.
Or atleast check if the current path to the old version is reachable.
Removing those that is not reachable makes sense as it allows people to clear out the old version folders for example when installing the new one.

Asking the user makes sense for a smooth cleanup imo as it can be done after the save copying step.

I've experimented a bit with that now, but it doesn't always work.
In particular, the old version sometimes is saved within an archive instead of as seperate version.
Hopefully the new way of the future update handles it differently.

I'm currently trying to relocate files with a new sub directory system, but I've come across the issue the install process had: "\" and other such symbols aren't removed ahead of the relocation, resulting in folder issues.
Something like Ver9/Mar/13/2017 results in multiple subfolders since the elements aren't removed.

In fact I don't check the games version when installing, I just guess that you are installing the last one. But if there is a mistake in the version on the this forum I won't be able to detect it.

new version 2.15.1.5 with a few stats in it.

kuraiken if you whant to have multiple install you have to put the version number somewhere in your installation path. If you do so it's a good idea to deactivate the option to save old version as it will make a zip file of the games directory, witch is useless since it won't be deleted on a new version installation.

I thought I did, but only as part of the name, not as a special sub directory. I changed it now and updated the path for all games. Hopefully it works now.

Since the last two releases, thumbnail images have been messed up.
I thought it just changed the thumbnail on set thumbnails i had set manually.

But now i find thumbnails that isn't even for the correct game.

Attached screenshot again, this time one a single page i got 2 wrong images which is for other games and one without an image at all.
Those without an image have been happening a bunch this last week.

Note that the set thumbnail is just that, just the set thumbnail. Those images is not in the image tab at all on those titles.

EDIT: continued browsing and found a ton more offenders. Is this some sort of local issue?
Don't believe it is.

Attachent another image which was much more out of control.
Blue is ofc missing, Green had other images as thumbs i had set in the past.
Red has images from the wrong title.

I'm sorry if it wasn't clear.
When installing a new version of a game it doesnt start the newest one, it still starts the old version even though I did update it (and I've checked the files).
The only way around this that I've found would be to delete the older version manually, and unpack the new one.
In other words, would it be possible to add a version manager?

When using the install feature which will move or extract the folders and files selected.
It will set that selected exe or whatever as the main file to launch.
You can also verifiy this in the edit window which will have the launch path.

Unless this is a weird error on your side or you are not using the install feature then it should work as expected.

That's strange, I load images in a different thread, so I guess that's why some times things goes bad. But if I load them in the main thread it's too slow. I'll try to fix this.

PS: there no more spam on my forum, I'll keep track of suggestions there, it will be easier. But you can always ask them here, I will copy them.

Thinking about these issues, there is no way to change the thumbnails on mass across the client easily.
Should be able to be done in a decent way by checking aspect ratios of the images.

If the user want a wide banner for example like i want then it should pick the first image that is wider than 16:9 for example.
If they want just the 16:9 screenshot size then it should just pick the first one.

With the addition of clearing out the cropped 1x1 small square images which wouldnt be wanted in such an UI.

This can also be built on with flags on the metadata side of things that is hosted on the server, flags that could be set with community flagging if they manually select an image as a thumbnail.

One flag per aspect ratio could work.

Such a system with or without the flags would enable users to easily correct errors caused by bugs like these aswell as just changing the whole UI without needing to manually select images for every single title.

Also to work around the upload limit and hosting limits you have set and might want to have.
That would be to allow url sharing instead of uploads, that would allow people to link direct file links to say community made banners on F95 with its raw file url.

You can get the database version or you can force a sync for the site, last time i downloaded the full database version it took longer than syncing with it locally.

You can sync the client to grab title metadata here:
game_list_abKTx9DFj0.png

Forcing a sync will download every title btw, but its worth it really. The Client is made to have the whole database locally. Makes it easier to stay in sync and browse titles you dont have.

As for the login issues, you dont need to login or connect that way to grab the title metadata.

Having both checkboxes ticked to check for new data on every boot is pretty useful tbh.

2 things :
1) When there is no database I should probably ask the user if he want's to sync (by default auto sync is disabled).
2) is your registration problem solved?
