First off, the game wasn't really worth playing for me, too much dialogue and the scenes aren't really worth the trouble, especially the shape-shifting. Skipped through dialogue so can't tell you about the story content.
The rest is just rambling about the whole straight guys complaining about gay content topic that popped up because I'm bored at home in this quarantine.
I always guessed it was because straight content is the norm. I'm guessing 90% of the people on here are looking for straight content, whereas maybe about 5% are looking for gay male content. 90% of the content I search through on here is straight. At least what I call straight, chicks with dicks aren't gay in my eyes. Even pornhub has a transgender category in the normal section, while the gay version doesn't, we can see all the dicks we want without boobs in the way. I think it gets a gay rap since dicks equal gay even with boobs, but my reasoning is based off a college lecture I saw on youtube that investigated sexuality and pornography on the internet years back. They did an eye tracking of males that identified as straight on pornographic images and the top 5 areas of focus in order were boobs, ass, pussy, girl's mouth and oddly the guy's dick. They reasoned the dick was number five was because it reminding the subject of his own dick and was imagining doing the same things in the picture with it. Straight guys aren't bothered by dicks, they have dicks, they touch their dicks, they use their dicks, and they like seeing girls get fucked by dicks. It's all fine as long as a chick is involved in someway. The majority of guys think that way, which is fine, so they go through life without ever seeing, hearing, or thinking about gay sex.
Conversely, as a gay and in the minority, most of my friends are straight, most of the movies I watch have only straight romance, most of the videogames I play only have straight romance, and even most of the ads out there are focused on straight people. I'm used to my buds talking about their straight sexual adventures, I'm used to the dreamy hunk kissing the girl, and I'm used to seeing scantily clad or even topless women in more mature media. So I've played numerous games on here that are straight only if the game is interesting enough, and way too many crappy ones just to check out the 5% gay content it contains. It's really little over the past decade that gay option in games has become more mainstream with adding them to games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect and The Sims. The funny thing is a lot this is still being pushed against by straight men because they aren't used to being around gay romance, I still remember the Dragon Age Origins mod board getting spammed by straight guys complaining on the mod allowing a male MC to romance Alistair thread. I remember one guy complaining that Alistair is straight guy and if we didn't like it, don't play the game... on a mod board... where you can change literally anything you want. Even Game of Thrones still got a backlash of complaints for having too many dicks in it.
So basically I grew up with straight being the norm and react differently to things. I listen to my buds' sex stories, I don't care if a straight couple is making out in public, I'm fine with seeing a naked woman and have watched straight porn if the guy is hot enough. It's the majority out there. For straight guys it's different, they rarely or even never have to deal with gay sex. It's on sites like this there gay and straight is all mixed in that they seem to freak out the worst. Rule 34 has the same out come. 90% of the gay pictures there have someone complaining about "fag shit" in comments, which I always find funny when it's on a picture of a single naked man. You need two guys to make it gay in a picture otherwise by that logic all pictures of a single naked lady are lesbian pics.
Overall better tagging would probably help this issue out a lot. I've used the gay tag to check for games and a lot of the games that show up I personally wouldn't call gay (see my transsexual argument earlier). I've also bumped into some lesbian games that are labeled as gay, which gay is a general term so it's not quite wrong, but not the current tags intent. It would be nice to add some male/male only tags like Bara or Yaoi.
