When it's around 10 saves, loading and saving slows down for me too, tested with two browsers. If you want fast saving and loading use "save to disk" instead of browser cache saving and regularly delete the cache saves.

The performance decreasing with more saves is common to all twine games. It is just that smaller ones are small enough that it never becomes an issue. Like someone else said you can use the save to file to backup your saves and wipe the rest.
