The only good in this game is the neighbor.
It is only for her that MC mans up and goes outta his way to
win her over to his side of the .. hall.

There is real resentment still stirring inside of MC, Alice and Elsa keep stirring it to no end.

MC is tempted to let go, problem is he does not have the skills to face them head on and
actually get something for his troubles. Getting used and abused is not a good work place
demeanor .. it is neither the means to get anywhere with your bully or your tormentor
or the one abusing you.
MC still has some modicum of agency .. his dead stare into Elsa though,
this alone will only pin him into a cold and lonely place - at work and socially.

Playing this game with any expectations is like waiting for ink to dry and hoping it turns ”looser” into ”win”.

Exactly so. The MC is going to have to find another gear to keep up with her... and I'm not sure he has it in him (he isn't sure, either).

The only women worth pursuing are lionesses, and this lady is an apex predator.

CC puts so much out there in the shade... there are only 3-4 games on this site with characters that are as well written and compelling. And Elsa... is pretty much my ideal woman, although she's also a nightmare... particularly for a guy like the MC. (Unless, that is, the MC has that other gear... we'll see!)

I think sqwl is telling the story of a man who learns how to stop being a miserable incel and starts seeing women as actual human beings. Slowly, painfully, but surely Maybe Edward will even stop putting Alice on pedestal and move onto other potential interests!

Yup, that's the way I read it too. I'm hoping that if Edward advances beyond doormat (and he is advancing, albeit super slowly) he will realize that the manipulative chess player who is presently using him as a pawn in a game of her own devising is the _only_ woman worth having. (The nature of her game is one of the plot's big unknowns...)

For a man to have a shot at achieving truly great things, he must have a powerful, determined woman at his side... iron sharpens iron. Come on, Edward, you wimpy lummox... be worthy of her!

Agreed. Corporate Culture, along with Hillside, are basically on a category of their own, standing above others.

We have such similar tastes it's rather scary. Fundamentally, what both of those games have in common is that the Devs know how to create compelling female characters, who behave as fully-rounded human beings and are true to their own natures. (In other words, as compelling _people_ not porn tropes or male fantasy cardboard cutouts.)

Elsa is nothing like Charlotte, for example... but they are both deep, compelling, multi-layered characters who make awesome (actual or potential) LIs.

I am in no way surprised by this... coulda predicted it. Now... you just need to establish a 'my wife's approved adult games list' so that I can find them, play them, and support the creators.

I don't think he's just a stereotypical incel. The guy had gfs and a friend circle. He just went the wrong way and now it's super hard to crawl back to life from the pit without the outsider's help. You can have relationships but still lack direction in life, have 0 life goals, and be in almost the exact same position as mc.

Try to check *estate dominate*. The only game on pair with this one where I was really hooked to characters and great writing.

That's fair, he wasn't always an incel. His current state definitely fits the stereotype, though.

While I appreciate femdom, that game is a bit much for me. It goes beyond sexual domination, well into the territory of slavery/indentured servitude. Not my cup of tea
