I'm not going to go too deep into this, already had plenty go into "attack mode" about this topic, but I'll respond. To me, the very line you suggested needs removed tells me this was never meant to be incest based.
They made the game, how could it not be intended. Like I said, some see it, some don't. I'm sure all the devs who make lolli games assert all the characters are 18 too, because that is what they intended, let's just believe them. I'm not trying to besmirch anyone's character, but don't piss on my shoes and tell me it's raining. There may be an implication you are seeing, that is actually there, but that was never intended
Asking Luna about her gloves greyed her out for me in the relationship menu. But if you dont ask her she is still there to be clicked on. Walkthrough says to ask her though..ill just have to make two saves until next update.
I didn't intend any "attack mode" in that if you meant me, sorry if it seemed that way. It's just that, if a line needs to be removed outright for something to make sense, then the thing that it needs to be removed for was not taken into account in the original writing. In fact, Caribdis is specifically on record saying he never took incest into account with this game. If there is a relationship that can be swapped for something else, like landlady to mother, that fits, but outright removing entire lines just to fit seems like an appeal to the fetish tactic.I'm not going to go too deep into this, already had plenty go into "attack mode" about this topic, but I'll respond.
The way patreon is, I wouldn't mention anything that is a bannable offense by them. There is zero reason to even hint at something they don't like when they control your income. Any dev that uses their site for funding would be be ill advised to mention anything that would jeopardize their income, it would be completely foolish. They've booted more than one person from their site for things said off their site.
The line I was referring to is basically just a passing thought in the game during the setup, mentioned once, then forgotten. The character could come in later, but I'm not betting on it. There are little nuggets in the game which led me to have my beliefs, others don't see it, but I do. The normal "landlady" trope is just replaced with another word to me, new spin on an old tale. You say removing "lines to suit a fetish a" seems forced, to me, adding a throwaway line to deflect from "fetish a" screams "avoid the ban hammer". All it takes is one person to hound patreon to dig deeper and all the funding could be locked up, or lost, while they do an extensive rewrite to suit patreon. This happened not too long ago to a dev I help from time-to-time, cost him a month of productivity to make them happy, then having to work on a patch on top of the normal development, just slows you down more. The game is just skirting a fine line to me, enough of a hint to make cest fans happy, and the explicit mention to make the non fans happy. No patch needed, so less work in the end.
As far as this:
They made the game, how could it not be intended. Like I said, some see it, some don't. I'm sure all the devs who make lolli games assert all the characters are 18 too, because that is what they intended, let's just believe them. I'm sure if you ask the devs of numerous games that are funded on that site if there is any cest, 90% of them or more would deny it, and that is the smart thing to do. I'm sure Luxee vehemently denies he has anything do do with the patch for Apartment 69, the appropriate response would be, "I don't know, that must be a fan patch". Why make yourself a target.
The story is good, not saying it isn't, all this discussion is just semantics. People see what they want to see, you won't change 95% or more of anyone's mind nowadays. There is no discussion, only opinions, I'm right, you're wrong.
This is just a dumpster fire of a topic anyway, I regret even making a comment in good faith to you in the first place, it just started the dogpile from others, even the writer, any response will be "the dev said it doesn't have it in the game", the dev whose income is reliant on obeying rules from a payment distributing site that explicitly forbids said content.
Well said.I didn't intend any "attack mode" in that if you meant me, sorry if it seemed that way. It's just that, if a line needs to be removed outright for something to make sense, then the thing that it needs to be removed for was not taken into account in the original writing. In fact, Caribdis is specifically on record saying he never took incest into account with this game. If there is a relationship that can be swapped for something else, like landlady to mother, that fits, but outright removing entire lines just to fit seems like an appeal to the fetish tactic.
As far as Patreon, if it isn't even in the game or on the Patreon page, it is safe to talk about. There is simply no hint because Caribdis is not making an incest game this time, as he said. All he would have to do is make some sort of interchangeable, usually single word relationship to the MC, like landlady, and then it is easily swappable via patch. However, there is no such setup in this game because Caribdis never intended for there to be incest.
There are no throwaway lines, he is establishing a non-incest relationship with the characters in question. He has already said there is no intended incest in this specific game. A person can hound Patreon all they want, but Patreon cannot find what isn't there. I also have a developer with recent Patreon trouble, in fact, it was specifically for incest even though the beginning of the game pretty strongly hints that the MC is not the same person that the NPC that is related knows and is actually potentially a different person in the body of the relative. He is now in the middle of a rework because of that that will cost him an entire month.
How could it not be intended? It is actually not difficult to put the same words into several entirely different contexts, it's all about tone and the context around the line, not just the line itself. Considering that it is text, it is also very easy to mistake things without blatant context to force the line into a very specific meaning. As for that loli part, the term loli is mostly about appearance, meaning a girl can be thousands of years old and still be a loli. There is no context that can save a loli developer from a Patreon strike for loli because that can only be fixed by making them no longer lolis. Patreon pays no attention to the 'all characters are 18+' line that some developers put in their games, they look at appearance and, even if a girl is stated very blatantly to be in college, they strike the game for that girl's appearance. This specific example happened to Runey, developer of Harem Hotel.
Of course developers are going to deny it, that's why one has to look at the game itself to see if there are signs that incest was originally the intent and was scrapped for Patreon, like changing relationship titles like mother to relationship titles like landlady. It would be stupid to out oneself, especially over open comment threads.
I don't think there is a right or wrong here, I think we are both seeing something entirely different, even opposite to what the other sees. However, the developer has spoken and their word is essentially the word of god for the universe of their game. If 'god' says they aren't related, who am I to argue that they are.
You missed a scene thenI have no clue where this game is going, so far there's zero adult content.
AND I LOVE IT
Please, please, please keep going with it Caribdis !
