I've gotten it, what's your question exactly? How much have you done, what do you know and so on?
I already completed the good ending so I know more or less how the questline goes.
What I wanted to ask was, at what point in the quest can I trigger the neutral ending and how do I do that?

Is there more than one ending? I know there's the 'stab her trauma' ending, and I seem to recall the game calling that the neutral ending. *goes to check*

Oh huh, no, you're right. That's the good ending apparently. I wonder how you get a worse ending... probably it's a 'ghost princess moves on to afterlife' ending. Maybe while diving in to go get the knife, if you don't kill her inner doubts, she resolves to do something different at the end. Her inner monologues were very 'I shouldn't be here' until you killed them all and she finally went "Since I got this chance, I should enjoy it".

The library fairy tends to tease alternate endings though, and apparently she got lines for that one according to this changelog note: "-Added dialogues for Sonnet "Faerie Tales" book, regarding the 2 Ghost Princess endings "

Thank god. Mermaid almost always got herself killed in the first couple hours of every run.
Yeah, I rushed in to get Mermaid and Finheads to the same attack level so they'd mostly stalemate each other, but that only lasted until the Mermaids starved themselves out of existence.

Yup, one of my first things was to try and grab the cornucopia to stop that. What we really need though is a way to fix the mermaid barrier once it gets knocked down.

What's the mermaid barrier? I don't think I ever noticed whatever that was. I tend to forget the sea until a war starts over there or I finally have time from trying to keep the north and south into peace or, at least, a stable stalemate.

This appens when the princesses have war with 2 or more kingdom, try to stop wars ASAP; or if that are so much bother, make her abdicate and buy from slaves market. You know, wars are so expensive, and if the wars long so much, the city would be in danger to bankrupt.

The issue with stopping wars is, Mermaid Princess refuses all attempts at using influence to stop the war. So once she starts one, either she wins or her realm dies, there doesn't seem to be any alternatives.

Sorry but it was not really useful, Mermaid princess population keeps decreasing everyday even if she's not at war, is like her relm i fated to collapse.

Then maybe you must solve the problem with mermaid sisters, you know one of them was kidnapped by goblin kingdom. They mention mermaids only can breed in a specific situations, an also have a dangerous criature in their city. I don´t know exactly why mermaid kingdom always dissapear, i only can give some hints. Some can be the root of the problem or not, so time to try and see if works... That´s all i know

Edit: After reading the comment of users wiki, this problem goes for previous build but there´s no info about the cause. It´s frustrating, but in my game the kingdom was conquer by finhead princess; and the MermaidP was sold to Goblins as slave, of course, i bought her. If anyonme has aditional info, wuold be great to know it.

The Mermaid Barrier is one of the projects you can fund, I think it's the signboard in the hammerhead port. It puts barrels around all the port cities and prevents the mermaids from laying siege to them. But once the mermaids clear it, they attack just like they do before and there's no further way to prevent sieges again.

Honestly the mermaids are such a pain that I think I'll just clear them once I get the no reign falling for a month achievement.

The game does not like the use of ALT+ENTER for fullscreen. Press "F5" instead, this should fullscreen the game for you.

Note - the fullscreen isn't fully stretched fullscreen. The game will expand till the top & bottom reach your top/bottom screen edges, and you'll have black bars on the left & right side of the screen. So not true widescreen fullscreen, but it's what the game supports.
