after a bit of looking around at other games, I've got a bit of odd praise for this game and the developer, they're impeccable at keeping file sizes down. after looking around at a number of other games, specifically ren'py games using koikatsu models, I can't find a single game with a download under 4 GB, while the current update only takes up 1.16 GB. Can't help but wonder why there's such a huge size discrepancy, but I'm no coder.
The resolution of this game is 720p while others try for 1080p or higher which naturally takes up more space.
Compression is a big part of that. Some devs still use png instead of webp. Having the animations in webm helps but the animation loops are a lot smaller in this game as the dev doesn't play with the camera much, you're lucky to get 3 seconds of looping animation. Audio is another thing and many of the tracks are in mp3 format with 128 kbps or less.
Reusing assets is another way to save on space. Same animations loops with just the models swapped out, same music playing during major events, etc. Doesn't help that many koikatsu inspired games use the same bathroom, home, and other general locations.

Now the question becomes, is she a monstergirl sphinx in hiding or is it just her name.
By come back it means go somewhere then go back.
It's two events like that.
First one you meet Emma, Second one apppears after progressing Emma (check her room during the night, progress until you unlock the college)
Pretty much all the models changed around two years ago back in 0.7.0
As to why, well Arc's a dingus and was using unedited models that weren't his own and the original authors got a bit pissy when they eventually found out.
To be fair, I don't think he was expecting the game to get as big as it got when he first started.
Not like anyone would've given half a shit for a random small-fry amateur project that doesn't even get past 100 patrons.
Still, could've fucking edited them a little bit, even a pallete swap could've done the trick.

The videos are prerendered, so reusing the animation doesn't make any difference to the size, they each need a different video. Likewise the backgrounds of the images make no difference to the file size. It's the lower resolution and that he's using a modern compression format that does it.
It's not like the game has a lot of grindy mechanics so blitzing through it with ctrl or tab to skip already seen content would regain lost ground rather quickly. Fomo is a thing that has happen before when the dev says look at the changelog but forgets the changelog will get buried with time. Safer to make a save before jumping into the black void just in case as when we moved to the manor for an update or two people were trapped there and Pixie no longer plays on the laptop.

Well, that depends on a LOT of different things. But if you want a game with great replay value, lots of choices and girls, and is a pretty good balance of smut and story, I'd suggest College Daze.
If you have specific requests, I may be able to help. I will mention that I mostly know games with either corruption, male dom, pregnancy, mind control, and/or harem (and by harem, I don't mean I fuck lots of women and end up with one or some bs like that). And I stay away from most ntr and female mc games, different reasons for each though.

i was interested in what you described as "pushing the boundaries of what a porn game is"
corruption, male dom, pregnancy, and/or harem are all pretty basic qualities of most porn games id say (preg being more of a feature of story "endings" in most cases, but i find it more interesting when it is included in middle game play for example)
mind control seems a lot more niche and id love to play more of those
but really ALL suggestions in the category of "pushing the boundaries" are what im looking for. The farther away from generic renpy VN with a weak harem and a pregnancy ending you can point me, thats where id like to go!
Caveat: i really dont like the JRPG style games thou. (i love jrpgs, just not what im looking for in the porn category) though I dont mind some combat oriented gameplay if its more "mini game" and really kinda autowin style for example in the style of Astral Lust's combat card game thing, where you can easily slide the difficulties out so every battle is quick and autowin
actually Astral Lust (and CorruptKingdms) is kinda good example of the direction of games im interested in. non-traditional story, non-traditional setting, interesting psychological stuff (though astral goes kinda far in that regard), and especially player Agency in the game (like having a Townmap and a schedule etc) are all solid traits im looking for usually... but again thats the stuff that im actively searching for and playing, so what i was hoping to get from you was suggestions going even farther beyond that
any games you might recommend that are even more unique than that. (harem tag is always an added +)

Hmmm. I'm not really sure what you'd consider pushing the boundary. I tend to think of games that do more than just have a linear story but don't rely heavily on sandbox features and has a good story and characters with a good balance between sex and story to be pushing the boundaries. College Daze is a good example of that.
I also suggest Incubus City because its finished and has so much replay value.
Champion of the Realms is similar to Corrupted Kingdoms, but doesn't do much different except the story and characters. Not saying they're the same or anything close to that, but the style is similar.
I also really enjoy Harem Hotel. It has a lot going for it but updates have slowed down recently.
Long Live the Princess is one of the best corruption games in my opinion. I say that because the corruption isn't instant. Its not a "I cast a spell and now you're my whore" or "I rape you once and now you're mine" type deal. So if that interests you, its a good one.
There are others I'd suggest but you already said no combat so... yeah.

Well, a few with combat that are some of my favs include Lilith's Throne (almost completely text-based btw meaning very few or almost no images; I've been waiting a while before playing again so I can't remember well atm), Eiyuu Senki (or the sorta remake Eiyuu Senki Gold; they have similar but slightly different stories), and Evenicle.throw them at me anyways and ill look into them

-Lilith's Throne is a game I love because of the story. Of course having the ability to enslave my enemies from battle is a nice bonus.
-Eiyuu Senki is a story of trying to conquer the world. Also, all of the characters are based on real people, majority of them genderbent. The Gold version has more characters and a slightly different story, but iirc, they each have unique scenes so it can be worth it to play the original and then play Gold.
-Evenicle is interesting. It does have rape in it so there's that. This one has the most annoying combat out of the three I'm mentioning. But I loved the story. It has a sequel that seems to be completely separate (haven't finished it just yet, I got distracted lol).
There is one other game with combat that I love but it has futas (every character is a futa including the mc). It also has scenes where the mc gets raped... often. And some bad ends if things go wrong (or right if you're into it, I did as many bad ends as possible lol). Its called Tales of Androgyny.
A few standard games to suggest are Deviant Discoveries (decent corruption game where you play as a scientist turned professor), Shelter (a post apocalyptic incest game that can be played as a romance, harem, or corruption game), and My Employee Family (title pretty much says it all but it has a pretty decent story; its also a pure visual novel so there is that).
I only suggested one pure visual novel because I think you said you weren't looking for those. If you want more suggestions, post on my profile post thingy (been here for a few years and I still have trouble figuring some things out lol).
