You know that he's active in this thread, right? Now is fully working, but all content uploaded since January 5th is gone, i think he realized he fkd up and can't fix it, so just gave up and restored from last backup...![]()
Erm, pardón? why do you think i'm being disrespectful? i'm very grateful for the service he is doing, in my message i was just stating what happened by analyzing the situation. You know that he's active in this thread, right?
So, perhaps show a bit of respect for the time he past during all those years providing all those assets for free... In fact, even if he wasn't active in this thread it wouldn't prevent having a bit of respect to be the least you can do.
That sounds weird AF, are you still using plesk for the server management? i never had an server OS getting corrupted before nor heard it happening on a VPS, but server management solutions gets corrupted all the time for many reasons, but mainly after automatic updates, specially plesk, that's why i stopped using it and migrated my servers to "webmin"(well, that and because i was tired of paying monthly for plesk, webmin is fully free and has more features), still had a corruption once in one vps, but since then never again, sadly it's quite "new user unfriendly", but if interested i recommend you to check it someday, once you learn what you need to run a website it becomes easyThis is happened, the operating system got corrupted on its own, without touching anything. At first, I thought the server was under maintenance, but days passed, and it still wasn't working. I tried using the rescue system, but I couldn't fix anything. In the end, I decided to restore the latest backup available on my local PC, unfortunately dated January 5, 2025. Previously, my backups were stored on the server, but I couldn't recover them even with the rescue system. From now on, I'll use remote backups with Google Drive.
I don't know what happened, but the fact is I could no longer access either via SSH or via the WordPress admin... basically, I was locked out. I suspect that some operating system file got damaged. In fact, if I tried to use the rescue system, it let me log in, but I still couldn't recover the files because CyberPanel was also damaged and wouldn't let me access it. When things like this happen, the only real solution is to use a recent backup. I feel stupid because I didn't have a local one; otherwise, I wouldn't find myself restoring files from 3 months ago...That sounds weird AF, are you still using plesk for the server management? i never had an server OS getting corrupted before nor heard it happening on a VPS, but server management solutions gets corrupted all the time for many reasons, but mainly after automatic updates, specially plesk, that's why i stopped using it and migrated my servers to "webmin"(well, that and because i was tired of paying monthly for plesk, webmin is fully free and has more features), still had a corruption once in one vps, but since then never again, sadly it's quite "new user unfriendly", but if interested i recommend you to check it someday, once you learn what you need to run a website it becomes easy
And btw, i don't know what OS you use for your VPS, but after years of going back and fourth between centos, ubuntu and debian, at the end the one that less problems have given me over the years was Debian, which is what i'm currently running everywhere.
Well, my best wishes to you, i know these last months you uploaded quite a lot more content than usual as you started to upload 3D printing models as well, so i know it's gonna take you a while until you get everything up to date again, but good luck and thanks for your efforts![]()
Yea, that sounds pretty much as a failed update/upgrade(mostly happens on upgrades). You don't "need" to be 100% up to date on your system nor panel(WP on the contrary is recommended to be up to date because bots scan the internet 24/7/365 to infect vulnerable sites to convert them into botnet slaves, specially WP ones, that one keep it updated), so i recommend you to disable automatic updates if your server's panel allows you to do so, and update it from time to time by manually triggering it when you are ready(once every 2 months is ok)..... I could no longer access either via SSH or via the WordPress admin .... .... CyberPanel was also damaged and wouldn't let me access it ....
Yea, i assumed you do, when i said "once you learn what you need to run a website it becomes easy" i meant specifically in "webmin" in terms of what menus and sections you need to setup to make a site work for the first time. Panels that have simplified interfaces like what appears cyberPanel have(looked their web page and some images to get an idea) are a very different experience than ones that give you full control over your server like webmin, even ones with ample control like cPanel or Plesk just feels "curated", so you don't learn quite alot of knowledge because it gets obscured behind menus that many times you don't know what they actually do or change(or failed to do so).... I more or less know how to run a site, because over the past few years, since about 2017, I've learned quite a lot of things, but when these kinds of things happen there's just to go crazy... anyway I use Ubuntu ....
That is a great idea, just mind the space, i suppose you are using a free gdrive account, which has 15gb of space, with the amount of images in your site you might surpass that limit someday and the backups might stop uploading and it will not even alert you about it, more so if the backup uploading mechanism first waits for a successful upload to delete the previous one, which means your limit would be 7.5Gb of file size..... automatic backup directly to Google Drive ....
Can you add a filter tag for 3d-prints, it is a bit of a pain to search for them as they only way to do so currently is to search by name 3d print, which brings up over 27 pages of results.thank you, probably at this rate I might be able to in a few days,it also depends on the commitments I have, I will upload the 3d-print files in the future, because currently I don't have them in the local pc
You can find them under the category ''printable''Can you add a filter tag for 3d-prints, it is a bit of a pain to search for them as they only way to do so currently is to search by name 3d print, which brings up over 27 pages of results.
