I keep hearing good things about that game but the girls in the banner are so damned fugly...
As I had said in that very thread. I was initially turned off by the models and passed on it. Then I had a look in the mirror and realized I wasn't winning any beauty pageants any time soon. Gave a try and glad I did. I'm willing to bet you won't be winning any competitions based on stunning good looks. So swallow that pride, lower your standards a touch and enjoy the ride.

EDIT: Or don't. The choice is ultimately up to you. Just saying my experience was good coming from a similar perspective.

Nothing's wrong with people make decision based on appearance. It's a porn game after all. Yes Light of my life is a very good game and I like it. But I'm not playing for fap because the model is not for me.

Finally having gotten around to playing this yesterday, I have a minor complaint regarding the first psyche choice. More specifically about Bernie's dialog in light of the way Natalie Koval later introduces herself.

Maybe I am reading to much into it, maybe some intricacies of the English language escape me, maybe I did gloss over some mention of it or maybe Bernie just should've rephrased. But I do hope some of you are willing to share their facts and opinions with me.

Nope, nothing wrong with it at all. People have their preferences and that's fine. Like I said in the edit that you most likely just missed when replying. Mostly just wanted to say my experience was good coming from a similar perspective.

It is common practice for writers to hide certain details from readers that the protagonist or even other characters in the story might already know about for one reason or another. In this specific instance... I had a good reason for hiding this detail from the player:

Before I go on... this post veers somewhat into spoiler territory, so don't click this if you don't want certain aspects of the story or the MC's feelings on the accident revealed to you just yet... as many of these things will be revealed in the next chapter.

A lot of games like to keep information from the player that the MC may already know. I've seen games where the MC (that you named) has walked off camera, held a conversation you don't know about, and then walked back on camera where two other characters were having a separate conversation that the player watched instead of the one the supposed protagonist was having...

It is my number 1 pet peeve of storytelling (in and out of games), the hiding of information from the player/audience that the MC should or does know so that there can be a "twist" at a later time that surprises and shocks. I can only hope that the devs use that technique sparingly in Radiant. Too early to know anything for sure.

It's a pet peeve for me as well. But as someone who's dabbled in creative writing 1st person is one of the hardest POV's to write in. You cannot reveal information to the reader that the POV character has no way of knowing and you can't spring information that the POV character supposedly knows that the reader doesn't.

I glossed over it in my initial playthrough. Just seemed like a weird thing an older co-worker would say so I picked the "Lust" answer (because this is after all a porn VN, so lust is good, right?). After that I picked angry, don't know if it will bite me in the ass later.

It's obvious that the creators are going for some emotional resonance here, which I support. Sometimes I come here to play an "instant-graticication"-type of game and sometimes I stick around for the story alone (the #1 in my sig is an example of the latter) and I'm hoping that Radiant will turn out to be the latter.

Yeah, I am not someone who will stop playing a game/reading a book because they use a trope I don't like. If it is well-written I can give it a pass most of the time. Otherwise I would never have played WVM or Being a DIK (I am tired of the "college student suddenly fucks everyone plot), need to always try to be open to new experiences and sometimes I'm surprised. Radiant has done a good job so far. Now if the MC suddenly quits his lucrative job, enrolls in a college, and joins a frat I think I would be done. LOL

I've tried my hand at writing, with rare success, and I sympathise with everyone out there trying to make a living off it. As you said they went for emotional resonance and I think it worked judging by how popular this game has become. Either that or there are far more people who just want to pop the cherries of the MC's children ASAP. Hmmm, probably could make a solid venn diagram about that one.

Anyway, not going to kink shame or hate on someone else's art.

Maybe the accident is a strange bit of karma where the good only comes from pain? Like it had to happen to bring people together and only thru loss can they value what is gained?

Not much emotional resonance in doing it ASAP. In fact, truly doing that as soon as possible would probably involve a blunt instrument and three cases of concussion. Maybe it depends on exactly which emotions we're talking about, but I don't think even the dark route is going that dark :p
Alright, maybe I should've taken the ASAP out of the quote. But it's not like people just want the MC to fuck the girls and then disregard them. Some do, sure, but there's an (emotional) aspect beyond that. I've seen too many people go on about how if you wanna fuck someone, it's all lust and no love, like you can't have both at the same time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to elaborate on this. It's way more than I'd expected. But I also am truly sorry for making you feel you needed to reveal it.

I wish you all the best moving forward.
