i mean, it makes sense but, 5 years, damn... if was like, 1 update per month id support them
It used to be one every two to three months, but then the scope balooned and SarD found FFXVI. And proceeding to shill for it hard. Or flaccidly, depending.

The writing was good when it focused on the triplets.
If we're talking about chapter 1, I agree. Though I don't know what you consider 'good' writing. For me, the game's writing has always been acceptable.
Though, I didn't say it was bad. I just said the art is better. (Which is true for a lot of games out there)

There is a proverb that says “he who embraces much embraces little” means that it is better to focus on a few things and do them well, instead of dispersing trying to embrace everything and end up not achieving satisfactory results.

Maybe if you focused on the 3 sisters it wouldn't take forever for updates.

It's not abandoned but the development is super slow. Don't expect getting more than one update per year.
I made a Date Table (standard DD/MM/YYYY, I'm not U.S. Citizen)

So I would expect the next chapter to come out between the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026.
I'm sad because this team has two games, and I think they should focus on one. This game here seemed much better than the other one.
I'm contributing 1 dollar, which is how much I can contribute.
On the contribution website, they gave the following information:
Chapter 8 has 16 essential scenes and 10 more that are not essential. So far, they have done 4 and are doing 2, which is about 25-15% done.
Considering that it took 57 days to do 4 scenes, they are doing 1 scene every 14.25 days.
At this rate, to do 16 scenes, it will take another 171 days. If they are going to do all the planned scenes, it will take 313.5 days.
So, I would say the estimated release date is between September 5, 2025 and January 26, 2026. Since there are delays, I would put an upper limit. I think it will be released by March 2026 at the latest.

I don't think the issue is the scope of the story in this case, just lazy/milker dev

I think that most devs do this. Always add at least one girl per update and then each consequent update gets more and more diluted in terms of content.
Maybe they get bored of the initial characters and want more variety?

The opposite happens to me, out of 10 people I only end up liking 2 or 3 so throughout the game I'm with the characters I'm not interested in like “my god shut up, I don't want to see you anymore”. It happened to me with Waifu academy, with Haildicktador and others.

They want to keep the cash flowing, if they progressed the story with the characters people care about they'd have to wrap it up sooner.

Although in those case, at least they are working and giving people something at least.

This dude is just fucking around and delivering 15 min of gameplay every year, he is not planning on finishing the game at all . Or what, at this pace we would get an ending for 2035? 2040?

To satisfy a paying customer base.
To hold the current customer base.
To attract newer customers.
To account for customers not liking everyone so instead of accepting that those customers will just have to look for a different game, they must instead try to keep them.

Plenty are scared their caliber of writing or framing/animating are not enough to make one to three girls interesting. If it's just sex scenes of the same two characters in every update and they are not good enough to keep it interesting in both context and framing.

I thought about it and came to the conclusion that the ideal way to calculate it would be to count the number of scenes per chapter, to get a real idea of how long it takes to produce a scene.

If they are a professional group that really works consistently, I would think about reducing the number of scenes per chapter and trying to set a release date every 6 months, this would help to have more people trusting.

But, I understand that this story is very good and very complicated, very intelligent. It is difficult to script it. Several lines there I would never even think of saying to a person and they caught me completely off guard, I think that is what makes this work really different from the others.

About the discussion of focusing on multiple characters: I think it's interesting, but you have to be careful. I think a good story is more interesting than hot scenes, there are several girls there that I would simply remove to give more focus to the central ones, even if that means there are fewer hot scenes.
I even like the idea of an increase in frequency. The story starts with zero and the frequency of hot scenes increases.
People I would remove:
  • Natalie
Mother of the boy who suffered the accident with you, she seems kind of useless to the story and creates unnecessary depth. Unless she became a maid or something like that, it doesn't make much sense to me. And even if she did, I think it would generate bigger scenes without much reason.

  • Chelsea
Brooke's best friend. She appears there just to be another person you betray Brooke. There may be interesting scenes in the future, but at the rate they're producing them I think it would be more interesting to simply not have her.

  • Rachel
Glenn's wife, your FBI neighbor. The story is very boring and is basically so you can have sex earlier in the story, it's kind of silly how it develops too. I found it short, kind of crazy and doesn't fit very well. I would take it out and put more material about the daughters. It takes up 2 to 3 scenes, which could be with one of the central characters.

  • Vanessa
The waitress at the first restaurant you take Brooke to, she's clearly someone for you to sleep with because it doesn't make sense to sleep with Brooke yet. I like the scene where she appears, I could keep her, but I wouldn't evolve into scenes of her and forget she exists.

  • A Jade
The cashier at any store. Since you don't have sex when you go out with the girls at the lake, the script has her having sex without spoiling the story of one of your daughters and making Brooke jealous, but she's a side girl which doesn't make much sense to me.
I think there is already tension between Brooke and Mira, adding another one (Chelsea) only delays the development of the central node and the development of these girls themselves.

There is a scriptwriter's vice that everything that happens has to have some implication on the future of the story, there can't be any loose ends, but life is full of loose ends, how many people have appeared in your life and simply left?

There's the scene where he and his daughter are in the changing room, which I found a bit ridiculous, him closing his eyes...[/spoiler]
