That sounds like you just made a normal visual novel but decided not to use the right tags for some reason (and after playing it, yeah that's exactly what's going on). Also, a visual novel without routes isn't a visual novel, it's a kinetic novel.
I added the tags. And in all honesty, there are plenty 'VN' games here that have either a good or wrong choice that only make sure that you can or can't continue later on. I try to make a VN (you are right about that) where choices have actual influence.
Replay the game, make different choices and you will find out differences. I tried but get the same
Well as said in the Dev notes, there are different storylines for characters, the most obvious one is probably $Jake.
It's a bit annoying having to click the video links to get them to play. This is SugarCube so there's no reason why they can't be set to autoplay and loop
I did this on purpose:
The reason that I haven't set the videos on
autoplay is because movies should start in order. If
autoplay is on then all the clips start playing at the same time, directly as you enter the page. So once you finished watching the first one on the page, the second is already halfway, which makes you miss half of the content.
Personally I found this in some other HTML games and I saw it as an improvement.
Isn't HTML always android?
