He magically ALWAYS seems to make a "Proof of life" when this thread gets a lot of people talking about his lack of updates and the tons of money being given to him with expectations that they will receive a product at a reasonable time.

Maybe you should just stop mentioning a release date.
Unforeseen things always happen.
In the future, it might make more sense to post an overview of which scenes are planned for the update and how far rendering, coding, and text have progressed.

I honestly see the complaints as pointless. People spend so much on shit they don't even use or care about. So what if a few people choose to keep supporting development. It doesn't affect anyone but the people supporting it now and the people developing it. It's just like when people were calling for mass reporting other creators to patreon because the people took too long between releases. It's just catharsis for em.
I get people being frustrated. I don't begrudge them for it under the circumstances.

And I dont know which is worst. Not giving a date and be able to slack indefinitely or give a date and prove that after years of development still cannot provide an estimate.
Maybe its the other way around. We complain because we do care about this game.

What isnt awesome is the development, which seems to take the milking route. Over the years, with trial and error from countless developers, the playbook was created on "how to make the most money with least effort". And almost every developer seems to be following that golden route. Its just tiresome to see the same shit over and over again.

He can plan his job well, but his family is impossible to plan.
For us as players, it's annoying and frustrating that an update keeps getting postponed.
But family comes first!

Yeah, family comes first. And a short status of "No progress, shit happens, sorry gals and guys. Will let you know next week" comes never.
And thats why the payments should be postponed, IMHO.
He probably will release it this time, even if some content needs to be cut off and added later.
Happened with the last update. Which was a thing that would upset me if I was paying to be a part of beta testing and was not able to test a feature complete release.
But beggars cant be choosers, I guess.
Dude, life happens. I dunno, maybe he should stop saying "here is what we are planning to do" and start saying exactly what he is working on. But he does communicate pretty well. That is my biggest point. There are people who don't say anything for over a year and people still support them. It's insane.

And yes, I agree he should do what he did at the begging of this update and give progress status regularly.
I support Meorless still, he is probably cannon fodder by now, but dont get broken promises from him all the time. I didn't read it, but I checked the dates and at least he posts regular updates. Even if they are just delay notices. I didn't want to name the guy, but look at ICSTOR. The dude hasn't updated his patreon since september of last year. And people were doing the same rigamaroll there as here. The difference is with will we get some sort of post to prove he is still doing something. I get people have specific expectations but it's an incest game made by like 3 people with regular lives. Maybe just take a breath and relax. Hug your loved ones or something. Or do as I do. Go troll politicians and journalists on twitter. Game will be out before you know it.
