My issue with this is, this is right now, based around the snaggle-toothed, pedo baiting, ugly ginger character that had less than nothing to do with the original story.

I don't care how long or short or absent of lewd it is. This first side story doesn't make sense because the time frame the base story happens in is lightning fast. You meet these characters and canonically know them for at most two days. Then are thrust into some overarching vatican underworld fighting shape-shifting demons. But yes, let's remember the time we helped that one girl with her fucking onlyfans account.

A censored Renpy game? I've seen it all.
I thought I had seen them all on this forum, but it seems not. I've seen developers block anything that was pornographic for non-donors. My, a censorship of the first minutes of games, these are a great first. A game that starts in ignores tread, if the development starts like that the worst is yet to come.
It's almost like nobody searches the thread to see what has already been said about this.

I am really loving this game. Danny is a cutie and I am, of course, CutieLvr. She looks hot even with no or little makeup. Can't wait as she gets more corrupted, she starts wearing more and more makeup (think heavy blue eyeshadow), and dark red lipstick. EXCEPTION
I think the censorship (requesting membership during the game) will have a big negative impact on your game viewership. If folks like your game and can afford to support you, they will, but, blocking viewing, probably not going to go over so well. I'm just saying.
Oh, and I really, really love the tiny tits thing going on.

I really love Danny too. As for the censoring, it's already been said in this thread, but Pixieblink has a no-nag patch he typically releases maybe 2 or 3 weeks after a version comes out. So if you want it uncensored, just wait a little bit and he'll provide the patch here so you can see it that way. He does the same in the main game that this is an alternate of.

What has already been said is irrelevant. A non censor patch getting released at a later date is irrelevant. This is a freaking pirating site, not just a place to advertise for devs.

A dev thinking that making a spin off game filled with porn, will somehow satiate people who want it in the main game (which the dev has been working on for 2+ years and STILL doesnt have any) is crazy enough by itself. But to then censor it? Come on.

But, Cookie, it's almost worth repeating, we're hoping the dev would get the message. This is not the way to drum up supporters. I do go through pages and pages of threads when I'm looking for compressed versions, walkthroughs or Ipatches and such. This is just viewers who like the game, venting as to how support is solicited.

You're right, it's not just a place to advertise, but it is a place to advertise. Many devs use it as such.

Just because you've got groupthink about where the porn "belongs" doesn't change anything. We've already been over this ad nauseum. Either like it, or don't. Spamming the thread repeatedly over the same thing does literally nothing except annoy those of us who actually like the first game — with or without porn — and appreciate the extra effort to provide this when it wasn't required in the first place. The dev could've just kept working on the first game as it continues now, without providing anything at all on the side. Starving people complaining about being fed isn't a good look.

Funny that you talk about drumming up supporters. I've checked Patreon numbers and they've increased since releasing this game, so no, censoring does not seem to be hampering his gain in supporters. He also has a very fast turnaround on updates, so it's not like anyone has to wait very long for the patch. You can have your own feelings about anything you want, obviously. But waiting two whole weeks for a patch seems like a very small thing to ask. The alternative is that the dev just doesn't post the update here for another two weeks and then you wait anyway.

Actually I post the patch here about 10 days after the update.

As I've mentioned before the occasional in game nag-screens are not to target the f95 players but rather all the "pirate" game sites that feed off of f95. So I update the thread here, let it spread around all the other boards and download sites and then I personally post the "nag-patch" here and NO WHERE ELSE.

For the f95 players and no one else.

The Dev gets the message. And I would politely point out that this isn't my first rodeo.

If I were a money hungry miser I would release the game with all the "good stuff" paywalled as DLC content.
Easy enough to set up.

But I don't. Because I love f95 and the community here. Or at least most of you. F95 has taught me more about creating games than any other 10 resources put together. I have hundreds and hundreds of friends here, and enjoy uploading my games here to both build a fan base and share it with everyone. It does nothing but improve the game.

Some of the feedback and suggestions over the years have been excellent and have made the game much better than it would have been otherwise.

The cold hard truth is I (and 90% of all the other devs here) can't make a living simply by relying on the odd dollar. Bottom line? Being popular on f95 does NOT equate to having a game that even covers the costs of purchasing the assets, let alone spending 40+ hours a week in front of your computer.

Look at games like Heavy Five. It's fucking fantastic. I want to be like Nottravis when I grow up, at least as far as putting a great game together goes. Or Badtimetales' Isabella, or Leaving DNA by Impious Monk

All three of them are FANTASTIC games.
And I could fill this screen 5x times over with similar examples without even breaking a sweat.

You know what we Devs all have in common? After taxes, purchasing assets and the odd computer upgrade SOME of us manage to break even. A FEW of us manage to make enough after a few months to (insert drum roll here) - save enough money to upgrade our video card.

Which is why you see so many games abandoned or updated only 3 or 4 times in an entire year.

This is the world we live in. That whole "Field of Dreams" things may work in Hollywood movies but obviously doesn't apply to us starving Devs.

So yes, I share the game on f95. And upload the nag patch a week or 10 days later. It's even got to a point where it helps me a little with my bills every month. Which makes me better off than most Devs, so I consider myself lucky.

well funny update as usual.

Hah! "Besties". With the level of manipulation in general Danny tries at in life ("Happy birthday to me"), I think she's owed quite a bit of payback. :sneaky: Out of curiosity, have you tried the path for refusing her contract? If you haven't played that, obviously it limits discussion of it.

Thank you, PixieBlink, your explanation was wonderful to read. Those of us who know nothing about making a game should learn something from it. I noticed that you didn't hide all the "good stuff" as some devs do. I also learned that a little time down the road you do produce a fix to the censor, very much unlike other devs. As a player, we don't like censorship, but now, after your explanation, at least for me, I can definitely accept that.
I am actually a big fan and defender of devs who get roasted for the tags they include in their games (i.e., NTR, incest mostly) Not all devs are equal and games are made, some better than others. In any case, it still takes a lot of work and dedication plus the cost of the tools of your trade. Some devs do fold and quit because they didn't realize actually what it was going to take. Some fold because the harassment they were getting was too much, and that's very sad. Going forward, I will hold my tongue for devs such as yourself producing a game in the manner that you do. I respect that.

Hey Cookie, I'm all good with this dev. He does his censorship a whole lot differently than most devs who use a paywall, and I am okay with the way he does his thing.

Please don't?

Discussion is good. Honest feedback is great. Opinions matter. After all this game WAS created for VN enthusiasts. To play. And hopefully enjoy. Suggestions are listened to with an open mind. And ASKING WHY is never a problem.

But going off on a 300 word rant foaming at the mouth (keyboard) because I fucked up somebodies date with the palm Sisters? Hey, I get it. But I hardly want to re-hash that entire conversation every month.

We are gettting off topic now, but this is objectively not true. Its all public information. The game was released on here July 22nd. He hit a high of 222 subscribers on July 31st, Dropped to 205 August 1st and currently has 205. At BEST it it helped bring him back up from his lul of 175 on July 4th because He had 217 patreons in April. And has fluctuated between 175 and 220 for the last 6 months.
