I previously didn't care much about this dev's games, his previous two titles didn't grab me at all. But have to say, this one is very well done, great models and renders and an interesting story. He for sure set a new quality bar with this one. Pretty enjoyable game so far, looking forward to more

A Familiar World was a very small scope game, so hardly the most impressive thing. But I agree that this game has been excellent so far. I hope he can stick the landing with the ending when the time comes though. I lost count of how many VNs I played that were great until the ending lost the plot.

Yep, writing a good, satisfying ending is one of the most challenging things to pull off. So it's not really surprising to me many games, even if they do get to the finish line, fail to stick the landing.

The problem with the ending is that as an end point in a choice driven adventure it is much more difficult to write than in a traditional novel. The starting point is singular while the ending might be a myriad. So then writing the ending and working backward is much more complex and hard to do. To give multiple satisfying ending becomes almost impossible. Fortunately aFW seem to have a narrative thread that is, mostly, independent of player choice. So at least that part is looking like it will easier to write in a satisfying and meaningful way. The relationship part on the other hand, I wonder how hard it will be to pull off for everyone. Maybe the big lines will be good for many players, but I have a hard time seeing it be satisfying for everyone in the end.

There are different ways to approach multiple endings. One way is to have one real ending and the rest being more or less fail states...but this game doesn't really have much in the way of stat management. Maybe if you rejected some girls you don't get or make the most of their powers. But in the event there is one true ending and other fail states, I don't count the bad ones against the game as long as the true ending is good.

If there are real multiple endings where they are not fail states then those usually materialize in the form of which girl you end up with or if harem ending. Those are fine as long as the main plot and villain are resolved in a satisfying way.

But overall I don't see a lot of potential for multiple endings here...maybe there will be a moral dilemma at the very end where the MC can abuse his power and conquer the world vs being the hero or something. But so far there hasn't been none of that here. And this game kind of pushes the harem angle more than some other games, so I really don't think there are going to be many endings here. Maybe two or three but really I don't expect more than one.
