I mean, there is a connection between Eowyn and Rae...both have a degree of power(either magical for Rae or political for Eowyn) but they're not too happy about it, for a reason or another(i mean Eowyn's uncle AKA the king was weak and manipulated, and she was a defenceless princess that was basically waiting for the bad guys to destroy her home <- short version) and they both tried to fight back one way or another until they met a simple man with a simple life(MC in this game is just a random dude in unusual circumstances, and learns to deal with it) and for love, for peace, for happiness they either consider(for Rae but only because we don't know how her story will end) or give up their powers and influence(Eowyn) just for a pleasant life where they don't feel miserable and depressed.
I could make a more “cultured” reference to Kurumu from Rosario+Vampire, which is a succubus just like Rae, who falls in love with Tsukune(MR.main protagonist also Mr.RandomHuman in unusual circumstances for half of the comic). Luckly for Kurumu she doesn't need to give up her powers to stay with him, but she must hide them if it happens that both of them will or want to live in the human-society. Of Course Kurumu is not the main girl(and in the main manga is subtly implied that she will give up on him, because in this comic, the main girl is Moka, the first girl Tsukune met) but still every girl in Tsukune's harem will have to deal with a similar situation of Rae and MC. Also this example is far more light-hearted than the Eowyn's one...we talk about a silly manga about a school of monsters and a harem of girls in love with a human student barely below the average.
But see my point? Powerful (not all of them though) people are willing to give up power just to be happy. Because this is what humans want: Happiness(or decent life).
