Why does IT need a proper end?
"The Strings are ripping, so everyone goes Back to it's homeworld. MC realises how selfish IT would bei if asha would Cut down her lifespan Just so He can be with her. So He days his final good Bye to her, Out of true Love and goes Back to his homeworld alone. THE END"
There. Satisfyed?
Let's keep this going. Devs could write an end to the Story in a single Update. It's Not a Story focused Game anyway. More Like an ongoing chain of seperaten Events where the end of the Story ist pretty much known from the start.
You might want to work on your spelling.
More pointedly, all stories need a proper end. Even F·R·I·E·N·D·S and Seinfeld had endings, and both shows far overstayed their welcome and got lambasted for years because of it. Stories have lifespans, even slice-of-life stories, SoL just doesn't imply the ending needs to wrap up every plot thread ever. Similar to Episodic shows like KND or Powerpuff Girls, which also have endings, but didn't really set up many plot threads for their size.
I'm not sure why you think I'm saying we should end it right here right now, but that was explicitly not the case in my original post. I said the dev should start
considering the end of development, because the game is growing long in the tooth - running over in this sense would negatively impact the story, as people have pointed out in the thread before is already happening. It makes things feel static, and that's bad for engagement.
Zanith should start setting up for a proper and fulfilling ending, because otherwise aHitR is going to just slowly coast to a stop and people will come to resent it. And it really doesn't deserve that, it's a pretty good story overall.
While I understand and even probably agree with your point from a creative standpoint, they are making $25,000 a month right now. Ending this and starting a new game is always going to cost a significant number of patrons, so unless there's a sudden bleeding of patrons, I doubt that they are even starting to contemplate an ending. Especially since most of the characters have had either little (Naomi) to no (Yona, Blair) resolution to their personal quests.
I don't think that's actually the case. If Zanith ended A House In The Rift I think most patrons would stick with him,
especially if he announced a sequel prior to the ending or immediately after/concurrently.
I mean, consider how many people keep supporting dudes who put out literally nothing. Komisari hasn't updated Heroes Harem Guild in literal years and is still making thousands of dollars a month off patron support. I don't think ending a current project and moving onto a new one would cause any significant dip in income for Zanith, if anything I'd expect it to make him take a little hop in subscribers since people would be able to get enthused about the new project.
And if he really wants to stick with the universe we're already in he can just make the new project a sequel.
