Interesting, take I haven't thought of it would explain the black frames only with dialoge, they are listening to an audio

Whoever is moving on with this novel I hope you're right. I just didn't like the fact that they ended on this cliffhanger
And the fact that they didn't show her where the rest of the girls at the end made me feel she was gone
And as I've said before in many of my posts she was my favourite. I'll miss her and the relationship she had with slick
To me she was the most down to earth of all the women he was with
It took me days to shake the feeling of her being gone. I knew someone very much like her who passed on
Maybe that's why I got attached and decided I wasn't going to continue the novel
If she does live on somebody will have to DM me to let me know she made it
Cuz I said I won't be finishing it deleted my save and I'm fine with the decision now

I can understand how you feel. Honestly I'm not sure how I feel normally I don't think about these cliffhangers this long. I will let you know if everything is good with her. On the cliffhanger thing I take it you're not playing Eternum

Generally speaking, I'm okay with cliffhangers... I mean, I'm impatient like almost everyone else, and I have mixed feelings about the suspense, but under the right circumstances, I think a cliffhanger can be part of good storytelling. On the other hand, I've never been a fan of "did they/didn't they survive" cliffhangers, especially when they involve key characters.
Storytellers obviously can kill off key characters, which will generally not be popular, but if a storyteller chooses to do it, in my opinion it should be straightforward and clear what just happened, and ideally there should be a way for the reader to process it in-story. I know this is a hot take, but I think it can be a good choice, or at least a justifiable one, if (and this is a big "if") it is a story element that serves to move the plot forward and ultimately leads to a good resolution of the overall story. Honestly, it's really hard to do well and successfully, so storytellers should also take that in mind.

Hey all - I haven't read this in a while - but I was wondering - I feel like I'm not getting anywhere with Riley - what is the best option for her? I am bouncing between knight and smooth but I'm more in the smooth stat than anything - If I'm not mistaken -- she is kind of hard to get to during the harem route but if you just go straight after her it is not as bad or am I misremembering things? thanks

Vanessa is good but the whole 'maniac' thing is really annoying to me, so while I like the character the story linked to getting her is way too cringe at times. Which I guess is the point but it makes it so hard to call her a favourite

Well, for the cliffhanger, there are several option of outcome:
1.) The obvious one, Erika will be shot dead.
2.) A little less obvious, Erika will be shot, but not serious.
3.) Unexpected ... Sharp gives a warning shot in the air.
4.) A tricky one ... Sharp shoots Erika (probably wounded) and at the same time gets shot himself by a 3rd person.
5.) Sharp gets shot by the police, arriving (as usual) a little late on the scene.
6.) Sharp gets shot be the detective girl, which was hiding somewhere (and was informed by MC before)
7.) Sharp gets shot by one of his companions (of which one was a mole for the police).
8.) Police (or detective) give a warning shot in the background - noone gets shooten down.
9.) Erika reveals a derringer and Sharp gets shot.
10.) Any character at the scene gets shot, because he jumps in the line of fire.
11.) Noone gets shot, because the gun is loaded with blank bullets.
12.) An unknown person shoots Sharp down (remember MC talked to someone before entering the scene)
For myself, its interesting, how many possibilities are served, just by an unseen gunshot. xD
But, ok, we have one more ... missing Erika on the screentable.
Do you realize, that there are similar options, just for that one?
1.) Erika gets shot ... done.
2.) Erika gets wounded ... long recovering, so she is out of the story - for now.
3.) Erika won't get shot, but takes her leave after all happenings.
... you can guess yourself some more.
In my humble opinion, we all jump way too fast to conclusions.
(Well, thats the trigger of a cliffhanger)
But the main point, so far, noone has touched.
There is absolutely no REASON, to remove Erika from the story.
So, why having a big story, in which she played a nice part, just to remove her that easy?
Sharp knows, by story, if he'd shoot Erika, he wont get MC to fight.
(A treat only works until the treat comes to life)
If Sharp wants to end his issue, he has no need to shoot Erika.
Biggest reason, if shooting someone, its best to have as less people around ... not that big audiance.
So, that cliffhanger-story of shooting down Erika does not fit (though, a nice try xD).
I would not be surprised, if Dev, right now, sits somewhere in a nice chair, having a whiskey and laughing his ass off by how stupid we all are.
... just because he missed Erikas picture in that latest summary by accident.

The typical "Hollywood" version would be:
The detective shoots away the gun from Sharps hand.
Now unarmed, he will be forced to step into the ring himself against MC for the final "High Noon".
After beaten down, police closes the fighting grounds.
Erika takes her leave to start a fresh beginning somewhere out of town with her savings.
( I'm a lonesome fightgirl and a long way from home" ...

I held off playing after ep10 and im glad i got to see more vanessa content with her being my fav! But ahh dang it that ep17 cliffhanger, lol. Its all good though, im optimistic on it being a fakeout or at least erika only getting injured(or police inquisition shows up, no one expects them!). Im tempted to wait for the next ep or let a few stack up like i did previously cuz by now i think we're close to the end.

Vanessa is my favorite also. You are right we are close to the end.
Episode 18 will have a lot going on in it. Not everything will be completely resolved because there will be an Episode 19. However, Episode 18 is the final tipping point.
