VN - Ren'Py - Completed - A New Home [v0.5] [Xcribr]

It left a very taste in my my. NPCs are just jumping on the MC. There's no buildup to intimacy at all. He was kicked out of house by his father but mother chooses father over her son. Then they contact mc when they nearly became bankrupt after father died. MC just forgives them like nothing ever happened without a second thought! I mean you should help family but all the shit they gave you, you aren't slightly angry with them?! How absurd it is! Telling us mother, aunt etc slept with grandpa, uncle, aunt basically the whole family is really disturbing for my taste. And thinking that they will also sleep with MC's son is giving me creeps.

Average character appearance at best, the story telling is just plain bad though. and the "choices" don't change anything except the order in which some things happen. And as others have mentioned, even looking into the why, someone forgiving their mother for abandoning them at 16 and choosing an abusive spouse over their children is highly unrealistic. A parent choosing an abusive spouse over their kids does make sense, but the kid forgiving them for it without a thought makes no sense. And the MC is submissive and follows what he's told to do in every scene, how someone like that is in charge of a successful company is highly doubtful.

No person would behave like the MC, locked away from his family for 5 years(possibly the rest of his life) because his mum choose her husband over her kid then MC forgives her like it was nothing and even worse he is told to be "nice, patient, and supportive" to the mother who cast him aside for 5 years while she gets her story straight and again super simp is happy to comply(its impossible to respect a person like that).

Creator if you give the player a "choice" to do or not do something and then have the story take it back automatically then it was never a "choice", its better to not give fake "choices" and just say this is the story i wrote read it or not.

All the "choices" in this game as to how you treat the family are "fake choices" as the story will have the MC forgive them and treat them the same regardless of the "choices" so just ignore any "choices" that are not what a super simp would say and treat it as the kinetic novel that it is.

Sadly the women are gold-digging sluts(judging by how they dress and throw themselves at MC) who don't seem to care(other than a quick mention) that they thought their brother abandoned them and the same when they find out it was the mom who pushed him away its like they are all incapable of anger or more like anger dosent exist at all in their world since no-one seems to be capable of it, with all that try as i might i cant think of a single reason to like any of them.

By the time you get to day 6 the game has no challenges left and honestly after that point i couldn't think of a reason to keep playing.

Art quality is quite good and it is well made.

Pretty mixed feelings to it, for part 1 at least. The story is at least somewhat engaging but I just didnt feel grounded by any of it since its grand resolution was that the dad killed himself and we only have a really obscure idea about what the MC actually does.

The sexual scenes are more like stop motion or like a body part is glitching; it's just all incredibly clunky

The renders are decent but a bit put off by Jane for the obvious reasons, (nothing against ppl of that build)

This game just needs a lot of work to be quite honest. There just isn't much of anything holding the storyline together and the sexual content is very fleeting. It just seems like it's just there for convenience rather than having any sort of meaning behind it

Disclaimer: Still on part 1 so issues raised may be resolved in later versions.

It's good..... but it's a bit unpolished. The visuals are good, not spectacular but you can teach each character has had effort put into them to give them a distinct look. Although in saying that, having twins in the game feels a bit like cheating but even then they're sufficiently different that it doesn't feel like a copy and pate job

The story is interesting, it's sufficiently engaging without being too dark that you feel the need to put your head in the oven after reading a few lines. A degree of suspension of disbelief is required for the initial set up for how the MC got to where he is at the beginning but again, it's not a huge thing so blooming off putting you can't engage with the game, like some other similar games that I won't mentioned here.

Two issues I have. One, the early sex scenes are clunky as hell. It's like... click mouse to insert penis, click mouse to pull out and then you click a few times fast enough to get some rudimentary animation and then that's it. Again, could be fixed in later version but it's hardly a scene to get you hot under the collar playing

Secondly, the dialogue is a bit wooden and the story feels like it needs work. I don't mean the plot, as I mentioned above it's actually not bad for this type of game but the story itself and the dialogue needs a bit of love. I get some games will drown the user in endless talking but I feel this game is the opposite. It does almost too little so the story feels rushed. There's no real depth to bite into.

In addition, there are scenes which tend to begin with stuff like "now, in this scene the MC is not present and is told from this characters point of view". Which is... odd. Like... why say that? I'm not aware of really any other game which has to lay it out to the user like that. If your scene can only be understood with a disclaimer from the author before it begins then that's a major issue and really plays into the idea that the story is barebones. A story which has been fleshed out to explain the scene wouldn't need that level of hand holding, the player would just understand the context of the scene.

Maybe it's a language thing and the author isn't a native English speaker and that's why they felt the need to add in the notes beforehand but its really not necessary if some steps were taken to better handle scene transitions.

Gave it 4 stars. Overall it's interesting, the effort is there and I'm hopeful that the issues I'm seeing are due to it being early in the game

This is a fantastic game. I love the setup and the characters. It's hard to come up with a good harem story that pays off parts of the setup, but this does very well. I'm glad to see new updates coming, and can't wait to see more of it.

TL;DR:

• Renders & Animations are bad
• Assets are cheap and overused
• Story is even more stupid than in Vol.1...

That's it. One Star. I played to the end of v0.15...
Apart from the Animations, everything got worse. Everything makes even less sense. His mother taught him that family is valuable? Did MC got hit in the head and forgot the Plot from Vol.1? And who in the hell pays £200 (277 USD) per hour for a streethooker!? Now MC has nightmares and need a Therapist. But of course they don't even try to resolve his nightmares, or his mommy-issues, or his PTSD... the Dev uses it, to introduce pregnancy.
And even if the animations got better compared to Vol.1, they are still bad. That one Group-Scene at the end of Act I looked like something from a chamber of horrors.
Now they have baby-talk during sex... one of THE most effective Boner-Killers known to men. And yet another proof for the serious mommy-issues MC has.

But he finally makes his Mother sign the NDA to tell her about all the shit he went through in order to survive, during the five years he spent alone after she kicked him out. Of course we don't see it, it's skipped over with a black screen. What's her reaction?

Danni: Why didn't you tell me before?
MC: I wanted you to keep believing I was a good person.
Danni: Oh my baby boy. You are a good person. What you had to do doesn't change that.

And then they move on to another topic. Of course she doesn't see any need to adress her part in this. Just how dense can someone be!?

At least most of the female characters from Vol.1 got a makeover. Sadly, the dev simply chose equally cheap models, just ones that were slightly less overused from all the other devs. And some of those makeovers made the characters even less appealing.

Also, MC suddenly has a girlfriend now. Beats me when that happened. Dev just straight up tells you at the start of Vol. 2 without any explanation. And you don't actually spend any meaningful time with her (like going on dates for example).

TL;DR: The "See-all-of-Europe-in-just-4-days-tour" version of incest games. Without much emotional story buildup you get to have sex with all women of your extended family in just a few hours of gameplay. No sound, good graphics & models, animations develop from crappy 2-frame to decent animations over the course of the game. 3.5/5 stars with an upward trend.

Review for [vol 1 0.95-beta & vol 2 0.04]

First off, I like the occasional incest game, I've played a few of them, so I'm familiar with many of the approaches of how to get the family to have sex with the MC in this particular genre. But "A New Home" surprised me. It is blunt, there is no buildup of the characters over time which lets you develop an emotional connection. But it's not - like some other games - a matter of bad translation or anything, it's just how the game is. The story and dialogues have a surreal absurdity, like "The Room" or like a Kafka novel (without the bleakness), and this absurdity hit me unexpectedly and it was great!
Paraphrasing an early dialogue between MC's big sister and MC:
"You left me 5 years ago, I was so hurt, I'm still angry."
"I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you, it wasn't my fault, mum sent me away."
"Then all is forgiven. By the way, do you remember how we kissed as teenagers before you left? Want to continue where we left off?"
No subtlety at all. Everything is pretty much on the nose. And like "The Naked Gun" it's often so stupid that I just laughed loudly at the absurdity of the situation.

Sometimes I want a VN that I can play for days with a slow and emotionally gripping story.
Sometimes I don't, and for those times "A New Home" is perfect.

The renders and characters are good, not top 5%, but good. There was some remodeling from Vol 1 to Vol 2 and at the moment the DEV is thinking about remastering Vol 1 accordingly.

The animations... well... I'm a sucker for good animations, but I also can enjoy a game without. In this game you can literally watch the dev's learning progress. It starts with simple 2-frame "animations" which you have to click through. That's not fun at all, but fortunately it gets better by the update. First short loops where you don't have to click anymore, later animations with some bodyparts looping well while the rest of the body stays eerily still. Now the dev is progressing towards simple full body animations with an upward trend. I'm optimistic that they'll get there.

I round up the 3.5 stars to a 4 for this rating, not least as a bit of motivation for the dev to continue to get better. Good luck!

Excellent game! The game has pretty good renders and has decent plot, not too complex and is a great way to enjoy a casual VN experience with good story progression. The incest is on point and each character trope has been given adequate buildup for the lewd scenes. Also the part 2 continues to include the extended family members in this debauchery and the MC too has so far been pretty understanding of the characters and no too much of an arrogant asshole which can be said about most VN these days. I hope the dev continues to develop this game and tries to increase his online presence for gathering support for this game, as so far it seems like a hobby but there are people willing to support the game and one time donations can only get the dev so far.

Story-Romance: I always care more about the story and the relationships above everything else but here there is almost none to speak of. Everyone jumps on your dick out of the blue, because you are handsome.

Renders: you get the picture from the screenshots, almost all of the other girls that aren't in the pictures, don't look feminine, some were muscular and had small tits and I didn't like them

Scenes: That would be excusable if the sex scenes were decent but most didn't have an animation and you have to click to go in and click to go out a dozen times and that's it.

Dialogues: While the dialogues weren't anything to write home about, the Dev had to preach about politics and religion, like we want to hear about that stuff from a porn game...
(A Putin kinda look alike dude calls the MC "libtard snowflake" then the MC calls him "republicunt" and shoots him in the head... you get the idea...)

Sound: Has none

I really hate leaving a bad review, most of the times i just don't care to do it but man do i feel like i lost my time here

(Only Played Vol 1 for now, rating based entirely on my enjoyment and satisfaction/disappointment, and my personal taste made me more salty by the end, I would suggest everyone to give it a try, it’s not that long honestly, you’ll know in volume 1 if it’s for you. )

The premise of the game, at least on the family side is great, not from a general standpoint but based on personal preference. I just love these types of family dynamics in stories and how they play out, mostly in erotic stories on something like literotica or incest subreddit, it’s difficult to find games similar to this. Which is why I was the perfect person to give this game a 5 based on set up alone, ignoring all the faults, but the problems just got worse and worse as the game went on and wore down my initial excitement at the reveal.

My problems can be broadly categorised as presentation problems and story problems, If either one of those aspects was better it would have covered for the other and my bias may have pulled the game to a5 but together they exemplify the problem. I’ll get presentation out of the way first and talk about story in spoilers.

Throughout the review I might suggest some changes in the story with examples, with this I’m not trying to say that ‘this is how it should have been’, the story belongs to the creator and how he wants it to be, I’m just trying to get across what bothered me, what could have been different and an example, any other way to resolve the underlying problem is fine too.



I know this is like a prologue, given the length and everything and there is a continuation but what is present does not give me hope (I’ll check it out at some point though). If this was made like a standard VN on this site without the rushed pacing and better sex scenes I would be fine with it and give it 4 or 5 stars depending on quality but as it is now 3 it is.

A decent game, the story is often very rushed even if the premise is pretty nice, it would of been nice with more development between characters. Did not really connect with any girl beyond hotness due to how fast scenes jumped. Some animations are pretty good, while others really should of been stills. I did love the very last scene of the first Volume (stopped playing there). I prefer romance in VNs over some "supernatural" family lineage thingy so I hope it gets more romantic and less about lustful harem but that is all personal preference. Liked all the girls and they do look great.

PROS:
+Nice premise - family tradition, Lot's daughters etc.
+Good looking models, especially the Mother, and MC; character model's proportions are normal; good renders.


CONS:
-No relationship buildup: no sexual tension or emotional connection.
-Focus is on the overly contrived plot, not the characters.
-Sex scenes are short, cut and dry. Poor animation, if any. Curt, drab dialogues and descriptions during sex scenes.
-Breaks the "show, don't tell" rule. Backstory sounds more interesting than what's presented to the player.

Volume 2 edit:

After the release of volume 2, I am somewhat cautious about what comes next. I can't help but feel the large jump between time between vol 1 and 2 is quite lazy and not well thought out. I think the game quality took a noticeable step down from volume 1. I hope these issues get rectified or more content is added making me less hesitant about what comes next. I will drop the game down to 4 stars instead of the original 5 I had rated it and will change it based on new updates.

Considering the far-fetched plot I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this game. The MC seems like a complex character and his family and friends are all gorgeous, the dev manages to sell a massively incestuous family in as realistic or believable way as possible which is very impressive.

The characters do not seem to be made superficial and the love shared between them is visible. I honestly am enamored by this game and I am looking forward to more updates.

All things considered, I do believe the plot is a bit on the fast paced side and I would prefer if things slowed down somewhat. Regardless I am enjoying it a lot. Definitely recommended.

This is by far the best game I have played. The models look great and the story has kept me interested. I haven't wanted to just skip through the dialog like on a lot of games. The story is great. I can't wait to see where this game goes and I will definitely be supporting this game. Keep up the awesome work.

Great characters and exceptional writing. A solid step above the norm. Wanted to know more about the characters and see where things were headed, which is not something I can say for 99% of VNs, where I usually end up reading no more than half the dialogue.

It's very much a VN so no stats, grinding or money. It's also fairly linear and binary in terms of choices. Sex scenes are hot but fairly short, with only a couple of positions/angles for most scenes.

While well written, the plot seems to run bit too fast in my opinion. There's a story reason for relatives fucking each other straight away I guess, but it does sort of ruin any build-up that might otherwise occur.

All in all though, I enjoyed it and only wish it was 10 times bigger. Hope it gets picked up again at some point (though being tremendously Patreon unfriendly with the incest theme deeply integrated in the story, it seems unlikely).

Definitely keeping an eye on the author's future projects.

Is it perfect: No.

But it's a really warm story of family love/incest, without the usual thropes of playing around as a pervert kid stalking his mother and sisters and manipulating them behind their back.
Main character is also one of the best protagonists in this game, caring and confident, without going in either extreme ( Butch Alpha, bad boy or a "nice guy")

The negatives? ( Hopefully, improved in next version) Hmm..

- Some character models look a bit "off"...younger sister a bit too old, mother too young, Su-Jin like an "anime character" ( purple hair, bright green eyes...she would look better with classic raven black hair, black eyes, more "white" skin). Nothing too much "out there" though.
- Animations/gifs could be better ( usual issues with only two body parts, necks or legs moving, while other remain stiff, which makes scenes look unnatural)..personally I think more images from different angles always look better ( and are more effective, considering how much it takes to make gifs)
- Initial pacing is too fast( I think, a "slow" day or two, of building/hinting attraction would work better, of akward living together, before story moves forward)

I wasn't keen on trying the game, seeing it wasn't complete at least by the release version. But boy oh boy. This game was a treat to experience. The Characters were just deep enough to grab an interest, While Character Models were another great aspect, the diversity of each character was refreshing as well. The way the story played out had me hooked, i could only put it down when the target choices came around.

I'm not sure if it's because of the download, but every other scene was an error. I had to ignore about 60% of the entire update. This is an amazing VN, but I had to rate it poorly because of all the error pages. I'll try again in a few months when the next release comes out. Hopefully this is a one time issue, and it's on my end. Good luck to the dev

Weak story line is almost unbelievable, bad scene sex after about 1 hour of playing this and keep fight to not to sleep I drop this game, many elements missing in this game but I can tell is your first game, sadly I have to skip this game.
