There is something confused in your description here, the crime scene only appears on the murder path, and the conspiracy path is not on the murder path

I did another playthrough and didn't have the same issue. Not sure what I did the first time around that I didn't do the second. But I'll take the opportunity to thank you again for all the work you've put into this game.

I do not understand how you make money and maintain mana in this game.

I have $23, 1 mana, Charm, Pass, and Possession spells, along w/ String & Magnet, Shovel, and Sissors in inventory. I've burnt through all the old stones I've found, there's no paperweight in the general store, I really can't afford anything it seems, and Mom doesn't offer me cash.

I've searched words like 'money, job, and work' in the walkthroughs and this forum thread and can't find anything other than a Wealth spell and random Old Stones through Quest objectives that seem to require spell casting w/ mana.

The most relevant infomation I've found in the walkthrough was a bullet point stating: "The scarce commodities are money and mana. Use what you have carefully or you could get trapped.."

What am I missing here..? Am I fucked?

It depends on your path, on the murder path it is a bit harder as you do not have the help of Sir Ronald, the Apprentice path is a bit easier as he will give you $100 when you are short of cash any number of times

In general
- revisit places even after charming people. A stone can often be found
- visit all locations you can like say the lake, again stones can be found, sometimes after visiting someone at home

Unsure why the paperweight is not for sale at the general store, it should always be there, but it is only ONCE. Things are often offered when mana is low or high. Some things < 20, and one case > 50 but also based on story progression.

Wealth is the best solution for getting more money but you are very low on mana so even with it you cannot cast it enough to be offered a stone by Esmeralda (and your mana is > 20)

First off wander around and check for more stones, also double check both stores in the new age stores. One item sold by Cherry gives a low mana regeneration at dawn

Without checking your save it is hard to give more specific suggestions, I do not know exactly where you are and where the items are.
You could of course use the cheat menu and add mana or money

• Bought paperweight once; was thinking there could only be 1 available at a time (i.e. either in shop OR inventory and replenishes on use) not 1 per playthrough?
• For Wealth ya that seems like the late game meta but I haven't had a chance yet to really wrap my head around treadmilling exp.

Otherwise if you have under 20 mana Emeralda will offer a rustic stone for sale for $100. This repeats any number of times, and is the main way Wealth is useful as in to get $100 costs less mana using Wealth than the stone gives. Wealth you can get early to mid game

I note the 15Gb mod by bologna is an old version of the game 14.8.4 so is missing all the content released since then

There is no way to undelete a save game, the information is lost and unrecoverable

A late game save was recently posted if that would help, otherwise sorry, you will have to start again
