Into The Deep
Good afternoon,
Another week has come to an end and I would like to talk about what I have achieved and what my plans are for next week.
I started the week by working on Bianca's battle sprites, after that was finally finished I went straight on with the normal sprites and dialog images for the new goblin characters. I also made some situational sprites for the goblins such as working or sitting.
After that I got back to work on the maps for the deeper mine. I had done some initial renderings for tents and huts last week, but wasn't really happy with the rest of the scenery. I wanted it to have a dark and mystical feel to it. As you can see in the title image of this post, I found a few assets that capture this mood well.
After I had also made the necessary renders of these, I was finally able to continue working on the actual maps. I painted the environment layer by layer over the concept drawings I made before until the map was finally finished. I went through the same process again for the goblin village which I finally finished earlier today.
Another thing I worked on in between were new club & flail weapons for Lyvia & Tia. Those will be added to all recipes from bronze to orcish weapons and of course also for the new ore that you can find in the deep mine. Together with this I also decided to finally add something I wanted to for a while now: different weapon animations depending on weapon. This has been quite a lot of work (which is why I delayed it in the past) but I felt that now with the next weaponset coming it was finally time to address this. However this will only apply to weapons that you gather after the 0.5.9.5 update. So all weapons gathered before won't have the newer combat animations (each item is a unique entity, and you can't change that entity after it was created).
Since the work on the maps took a little longer than expected I wasn't able to add events to them yet, but that is something I will now focus in detail on in the coming week.
What I also will do next is to work on dialogs with Bianca & Gavina about the second visit to the mine + the work on a new scene for Bianca.
As you have probably guessed already I plan release 0.5.9.5 before 0.6.0.0 and in 0.5.9.5 I want to introduce the new area as well as the expanded interaction with Bianca.
The month has just started and it is too early to give an exact date for the release, but by the end of next week that will for sure be a lot clearer. In total I have also thought about making another bigger map, but that will probably come with 0.6.0.0 and won't be needed for the content that I want to add with 0.5.9.5.
