I'll allow myself to add my two groschens into this discussion.

Penny had to take over familiy estate while being completely unprepared for it. She's a fair certainly knowing a lot about many aspects of farming, but managment and bargain are certainly not her well developed skills due to her rather timid personality.

After all, she sold almost all of good land to coldstone instead of leasing it, she's always selling to lucius (and bread to tavern), promising more next harvest instead of trying to bargain for better price or simply looking for other buyers. She's the one explaining basics of farming to main character and taking care of thiers fields (Notice your field simply doesn't have weeds) and animals (once donkey, horse, chickens and cows are there) on daily basis. Something MC ain't doing, because he's out there, working, fighting, hunting, doing something... or someone.

But, sadly, she can't do everything alone, because she's only a fair maiden and her time is simply limited and she simply can't do everything at once. She's working hard on those little and poor fields she left herself from which she has to not only earn enough coin to pay high war taxes, but also harvest enough to feed herself. Not to mention having to thresh wheat, then grind it into flour and then making bread. So she's there simply surviving all alone with little will to live, doing everything alone while her house and barn are simply decaying day by day.

MC offering her a helping hand around the farm isn't but a long needed help she needs, but also a purpose for her. Because instead of simply surviving from day to day hoping for the best she can actually help someone in need.

That aside... it's a game. It's simply tailored to make us feel like a hero they needed, to tickle our feelings, to improve our mood.

Edit 1. - Good idea to write into someone's post... moving to where it should be.
I agree to all of that. And that is also why I want my MC to help her with improving the farm, maybe also with the bargaining. But I also don't want my MC not to be bogged down too much by helping her either. More manual labor at the beginning of the game is ok but later the MC's wits should help him to improve the farm in a way that allows Penny to hire the necessary workers and manage it profitably.

If the MC finds books on farming and animal breeding either in the Monastery or in the library in Kirlic and introduces things like sheep, goat, pig, rabbit, maybe even deer and/or horse breeding and implements some farming improvements like getting some fertile soil to the land Penny leased and some advanced manure to further fertilize the soil and improve the harvest that would be nice. At some point the hired fam workers should do the manual labor and the MC should focus more on the farm management.

Currently Penny pays double for the farm workers and the MC pays for the mercenaries protecting them. That doesn't make much sense. Maybe the MC could make some security related improvements like building additional fences and some natural barriers and maybe get some dogs to help additionally with keeping the thieves and brigands away.

Maybe the MC could also find an alternative use for the bandit hideout at the Southern Road. If it is in use by someone else there won't be that many bandits and thieves out there anymore, right?
What would make sense is to implement some quests where the army sends someone to acquire certain goods for the army. John already produces weapons and armor for the front.
The Coldstones seem to have some contracts with the army. That is where the MC should come in. Find a way to take over those contracts and boot out the Coldstones. Help Lilly to get her memories back and then bring her home to Penny. And then get rid of the Coldstones somehow, well at least him. As for Elisabeth it depends on the story.

Is there already a way for Maui and Umah to get invited to the front fire in the Rumah village? It is not that nice if the two of them always have to remain in the "backyard" of the Rumah village.

What just irritated me was that although I had given Penny the vegetables, when she sold the vegetables to Lucius it seemed like they were not enough. Penny was even looking a bit sad and guilty in my opinion. But that doesn't make sense. I gave her the vegetables already.

I said a while back that most of the Penny issue could be resolved by a spreadsheet showing profit/loss.
If the player knew he could leave after working 3 or 15 days and the farm would be profitable, then no one would be worried.
Tack that spreadsheet on the wall and we would know when we could leave to do other quests.

In Chyos we trust.
We will improve the farm just as much he's going to provide us options to do so. And there is certainly quite the amount of possible improvements to make with little work effort, but allowing players to not only greatly increase profits, but also decreasing money spent on wages.

Sure, MC could find a book about farming in the university or monastery, but I am quite affraid Penny is illiterate. But it's not like she needs one anyway. She certainly knows a lot, but doesn't have time, nor resoruces to simply do it.

Well, technically speaking, we already have rabbits being in the coop near Emily's house, but it's rather unused and undeveloped feature as of right now. Allowing Penny to take care of them, moving the coop or adding another one near Penny's house, would be certainly a good way to generate some serious income, as selling thier meat and fur is quite the money making business early game.

Well, Penny is paying workers more, becuase thier living conditions are but only a bit above primitive. Improving thier living conditions, providing them with new, or even better quality, tools and proper working clothes instead of simple rags would be certainly a good way to decrease thier payments.

As for MC's mercenaries, they are getting thier wage no matter if they work or not. At least putting them to guard work ain't making thier hands idle to cause troubles around camp and Arenfield.

Dogs would be certainly useful idea to increase security without having to pay too much. After all dog doesn't require wage, but provisions and care. And if would be nice if MC could have one too, to aid him in battle, but also to help him hunt small game until he's going to learn how to make traps.

Fences are but only useful to mark borders and keep animals at bay. Won't stop thieves and brigands from a raid. At least not without having some serious height and ditch in front. And I don't think baron is simply going to allow to fortify Arenfield with palisade, even only if partially on that side of village. On the other hand, he doesn't really care about what is happening in the village as long as money and power are flowing into his pockets.

But Coldstones are rather hard nut to crack, as they ain't simple case of a rival landlord to win or buy, but a dark plot hidden under simple farming industry.

That would certainly be helpful in managing our time in making profitable buisness out of farm instead of throwing gold from MC's pocket, even if money is overflowing from it.

That is all nice and fine. That is exactly where the MC comes in. He helps her out, does several tasks which are time and energy consuming (field work, wheat grinding) and as the story develops he even helps her to lease some additional land from Giron. The MC hires the mercenaries required for protection, builds the chicken coop, renovates the barn, manages the mill repair and digs an irrigation canal and builds a pasture for cow breeding and milk production.
Normally this all should allow Penny to become profitable. But it doesn't. Th MC now just has more manual labor to do as it seems. Because now he has to check for eggs and sell them, too...

It shouldn't matter if Penny gets her vegetables from the MC at Monday already or at Friday as long as she gets them in time. And the wheat grinding should now be done by the miller, tbh. That's what this guy is hired to do. It was said that he would bring the wheat to Penny's house. So the wheat should actually never run out there. The MC could then grind some additional wheat if he has time. But the farm shouldn't depend on it anymore to be profitable already.
And originally the bread on the sideboard was meant for the MC for his own use. This also seems to have changed now.

Honestly, as of now it would make more sense if the MC would store his harvest in crates in front of Penny's house. Each Monday Penny should then take a fixed amount of vegetables out of them and sell them to Lucius. The miller should daily take a portion out of the wheat crate and grind it. There should be a defined amount for self sufficiency and one for making a decent amount of profit. Like it is the case with the potato minigame. The MC has then just to ensure to keep all the crates filled. There could also be a crate for the eggs. In that case Penny would directly get the money for selling them. Something similar could be done with the milk or even chicken meat.
Chicken and cows normally produce manure. Putting manure on the fields before planting the seeds should significantly increase the harvest.
What I'd like to see is the MC building some kind of automated watering system that waters the fields once per day. This would not only ease his work but also the one of Penny and her workers.
And I'd like the MC to be able to either buy the seeds he currently needs from Penny or from Lucius.
Pretty much every game mechanic that works well today started like this and then developed step by step. And it is not different with Penny's farm. Patience! The game is still in development

I'd rather he focuses on the storyline progression.

Well at least we know that after Chyo's done with the goblin camp/0.6.0 the cult comes next and more likely than not kirlic following behind if the polls are anything to go by.

I notice that if I leave Gurtak in charge in Calan's rest, I have the option to "bury the grudge with him" and that will complete the main quest "Revenge". How do you complete the quest in other paths if you choose to cast witchcraft on him? Also, where can I find the Seth's belt? One thing I'm sure is that it's not from the treasure hunt in Melissa's quest.

I'm guessing you make a deal with Gurtak in the Outpost.

Witchcraft wear off by the time you have your final fight with Tia's dad. If he dies, "Revenge" get settled. I don't know if he can not die in that fight.

If I'm not mistaken, if Gurtak ends up dead in any of the fights during the game, or you decide to kill him, "Revenge" get resolved.

I don't know about the belt.

That's pretty nice but I would lowkey also hope for the monestary to be finished sometime (at least the corruption with Syfa) depending on how much Chyos wants to expand that storyline I feel like it should also be finished within a big update but since I am not a supporter atm idk if it's even an option or if other stuff is prioritized.

Considering how much time the monastery took and how stressful the whole thing was at the time I doubt Chyos will return to it anytime soon, much less in a "full update" capacity (but who knows, I could very well be wrong).
The most voted options right now seem to be following the mindset of moving the story forward though (arianna/cult, kirlic, julia/baron, Umah/orcs)

That pretty much still is same in my gamepay. I kept him alive and he never died in any situation. Still standing like an idiot and quest never completing either.

You'll need to complete Tia's/Katherin's quests up to the point you clear calam's rest to clear the revenge quest.

Also sorry again for the ping, especially if they've been fixed already, but two more typos here Chyos (0.5.9.5)

Been there done that. But my quest remains same. Could be save transfer issues since I have been transferring them for a long time.

Also on second note, anyone know how to trigger special new scene of Helena?

Helena's and Yasmine's Winterhowl scene?

I think you need to be in December in real life or in-game, both women must have high Corruption, and you talk to them when they are together.

I had to go through all the forum just to trigger it. And for the first time in this game I had to edit a save game. Because PC clock changes don't make game think it's december. In-game december don't try it. I had to set the flags for the save. Just got the scene.

After the scene I wish all harem route one day will feature every women together with MC in same night. All one big happy family.

If I ever tell in real life that 4 women can be married at same time. People/government/etc go banana crazy on the idea. Meh. Muslims allowed by God, denied by people.

Founded a bug in v.0.5.9.6: After advancing Athia quest to the moment, when MC are trying to give her a shelter (the house with debt), but remembered, that he still don`t have a key (because 20 gold + taxes each month).

If MC will talk with Athia again, Harvald will reappear and, after short cutscene where he`ll leave her again, the game will "softlock", forcing to restart.

Unless you somehow had the scene that triggered the flag to clear the quest in a game version that had it bugged, you transferring saves between game versions shouldn't really be an issue.

Just press T to advance the in-game clock more than 1 day. There are special scenes in April (collect easter eggs for fairy armor) Oktober (special swamp monster) and December (Krampus and Winterhowl).
