You don't have to change the URL, you can change it in search settings by default even. You click advanced, scroll down, and toggle date instead of relevance. It's not bugged or illogical. It's really not that hard at all.

I know it. The problem is - doing so, it won't search it in a current thread, it will search everywhere. And I dont see toggling "current thread only"
And second thing - eventually it is about URL, because if u have a look at url u get after sorting by date - it is "o=date". It is definetly a bug. That is the whole point of creation of search url with a set of query parameters - u can save it and reuse, all search logic is inside url. And therefore I can adjust it myself, if I know the logic

This really isn't the place for a tutorial but here. When you click on the search bar, it automatically defaults to the thread you're in.

By clicking on your profile, you can go to "Preferences" and there change the settings to order searches by relevance or date in general from that point on. Then you return to the thread. Search. And that's it
