A Little More Time...
Good afternoon,
it's one of those Friday afternoons again where I had to weigh up whether to write a report now or keep working until the update is done and then write a report afterwards.
In the end I've now decided to give you a short update and then continue with the work.
First of all, I want to apologise that update 0.6.0.8 could not be completed yesterday. There were several issues that contributed to this, most of which were related to the management system.
I revised the system behind the interface a few more times this week. The interface also looks a little different now than in the image I posted last week. I have also tried to make the menu navigation as simple as possible. You will soon be able to tell me whether I have succeeded and whether improvements are necessary.
Among other things, I have also added an event that leads to an attack on Darkholt depending on how much work has been done there (noise is generated which provokes the orcs to attack). The system behind it first checks whether the defenders can repel the attack or not, and if not, looting takes place. In addition, I have added storage capacity to limit the raw materials in the village. However, unlike in Rumah, all raw materials share a capacity size. So let's say the capacity is at 200, this means when you store 50 wood and 150 stone the storage is full and you first have to take wood with you before you can gather more.
I made some additional changes on top of that, but during my tests yesterday, I realised that some things still aren't running smoothly. The problem is that if I release a broken version now, it will be even more difficult to fix everything afterwards. I've had this problem a few times with the mercenary system, where the bug fixes often became very complex in order to fix simple errors caused by variables not being changed accordingly.
After I was too tired to continue yesterday evening, I had to admit to myself that the whole thing was perhaps a little too ambitious. Nevertheless, I now want to implement it as planned.
I am currently still ironing out bugs and displaying objects assigned in the interface accordingly in the world. This means that if a cultist is assigned to standing guard, there will actually be someone standing there when you walk around the village outside of the menu (like it is the case in Arenfield).
It is now 4:30 p.m., and I will continue working until midnight and hopefully manage to complete the update. If I am unable to do so, I am confident that I will be able to complete it early next week. Unfortunately, I cannot be more specific, as errors are unpredictable. I will give you more updates on discord.
I hope for your understanding and patience.
I'll now continue working and for now wish you all a nice weekend!
