you ARE aware that this is a videogame, right?
Don't be an idiot dude.

The point you made was that I was only repulsed by the landlady character because she wasn't a video game caricature of a perfect woman. 'Cookie cutter flowers and rainbow shit' as you put it. Implying that she's instead 'refreshingly' realistic.

My point is that even if we took your realistic standards, this woman is still plain toxic.

yes, and? I don't get your issue
you don't like characters like her
I think it's refreshing to have fucked up characters
you are, for some reason, upset that I have that opinion and you keep talking about how you don't like her, how she's toxic and all that
it's ok to have different opinions, "dude"

The last page of arguments is a bit confusing. I’ll try sum up the argument so far, for easier understanding, since the posts don’t even fit each other despite the use of reply boxes.

1) Not every story should be flowers and rainbows.
→Response: Perhaps, but it should be handled with a semblance of realism, which this story lacks.
→Response: It is not a binary choice. Stories can avoid rainbows without going to the extreme.
2) [This/You/The mother] sounds like a tsundere/generic person on this site??? (I don’t understand what this is supposed to mean.)
→It is completely unrealistic. She isn’t just quirky, she is outright toxic.
3) This is a videogame.
→ Now you are just trolling / being an idiot.

I think the main confusion stems from people think that laddiestlad is advocating for realism, which is apparently not what happened? Because everyone else just seems to argue that the scenario is unrealistic.

Or to simplify:
laddiestlad says: "I want more fucked up people in my porn games. Better than bland and samey."
Everyone else says: "That’s not realistic. I’d prefer my porn games to be realistic.

How far off the mark am I?

You're pretty far off the mark.

He's not asking for more "fucked up" people. It's that the character isn't the same as every other typical milf incest character.

For it to be realistic, they'd have actually be quite a fucked up person to do even some of the things that are seen in incest themed games.

Imagine, for a moment, this is real life. Some girl you like decides to get together with you, and wants to meet up every afternoon for some fun. You miss an engagement at some point, and the next time you meet up you catch her fucking some dude who beat you up in the past.

my "whole" argument was that I'd rather have games with fucked up/heavily flawed characters like this one than, say, STS or other Harem games, because they're all pretty similar with their usage of tropes and their only big difference being the artstyle and gameplay gimmick

also,
2) [This/You/The mother] sounds like a tsundere/generic person on this site??? (I don’t understand what this is supposed to mean.)
I was calling the users on F95 toxic

nothing about this game is realistic
I mean, you have an alternate world and portals where some cult is trying to sacrifice you and most of the characters in this game are toxic in some way or form, so ?????

You miss an engagement at some point, and the next time you meet up you catch her fucking some dude who beat you up in the past. You ask what the fuck is going on, and the dude who beat you up tells you to fuck off, as you head out the girl follows and insults you, says you're not "man enough" for her before returning to the dude to keep getting fucked.

The dude she's fucking starts hitting her, he also destroys your property. The girl finally breaks up with the dude and meets someone better, but she'll occasionally meet up with you and expect you to put out for sex despite already being in a relationship with someone else.

Now tell me you wouldn't excise someone like that from your life with a fucking scalpel. This isn't "oh, she's just quirky and independent", this is "she doesn't respect you or others around her, and treats you as a fuck toy when it's convenient."
I don't know who is more "broken," this character or Ann from Big Brother. Both show serious signs of PTSD.

It's fine if you like fucked up characters, but don't just assume people who don't like fucked up characters only appreciate 'cookie cutter flowers and rainbows shit' and disparage them as people who believe that, as you put it, " absolutely every woman belongs to them and only them."

If you read back on my comments you'll also see I never attacked you for liking different things. The most hostile I got was telling you to stop being an idiot when you asked if I could tell the difference between a game and reality.

All I expressed was that the character was indeed fucked up by any realistic measure, and that just because you don't like fucked up characters doesn't suddenly mean you must think of women as personal objects without agency. Which was what you implied.

When do we get to mow that back lawn and have access to the pond and the shed! That's a critical issue, don'tchaknow?

Seriously, with each update, that's one of the first things I check. "Nope, not yet."

Weird how I come back to this after a lot of time and it's *worse* that before.
Before I felt like it had a weird but mostly complete story.
Now I can't even trigger the story. Literally went everywhere. Apparently something somewhere is broken. Jane/sis/whatever isn't progressing passed the first interaction but the other side quests are mostly done...

I'm going to guess this is just coding errors somewhere that destroyed the continuity somewhere.
I tried to use the skip to new content but there is no option to enter the other world as a start. So... Ya.
Guess I'll come back in another year? xD

You forgot to mention that she's your mom and the dude's your dad.
Meanwhile you're banging your sis, your teacher, your schoolmate, your school principal and a girl you just met in a comic shop. You're Leo Di Caprio, after all.

Or even keeping it in line with how he's built his scenario, that the "some dude" is her husband, who she's been having sex with before doing anything with the MC.

Well, he's actually an alternate reality version of her husband, though she doesn't know it. So, in some ways, he is an interloper. I figure since that is revealed before the stuff above, it's not a spoiler. We still don't know why they decided to swap alternate reality wives.
