We have 6 and a half playable days so far.So probably 3 more years untill the game is done-all 30 playable days.
Do I need to do the content with the son and his friend to get the points necessary to explore the content with everyone else? I'd kinda rather play a story where she only flirts/cheats with the older characters.

...and more importantly: Sophia is not a lesbian. She's bi. The storyline you apparently envision (wife realizes she was actually into women all along) simply is not in the cards.
