Duel 3090's with an NVlink will give you almost the equivalent number of cores to a 5090, but more importunately for large scenes, 2x linked 3090's gives you 48gig of Vram v's 32gig for the 5090.. Personally I would take the Vram over cores.. My 2 cents.
Nvidia killed the Nvlink, as did Daz, who had not used it since version 4.16+ (2021).
They changed their mind?

If not, the 5090 will have 12 gigs more VRAM than two 3090s.

Yes, but no...
I have never used the NVlink not having myself the GPU's to do it, but I am referring to claims of L&Ps rigs from back in the day (Pre 2021) in the fanart forum where it was repeatedly stated he had not just one rig with duel 3090's but actually 2!!. Now I always questioned if this was actually Real, but if he did have a rig with duel 3090's what would be the point in 2020 of not using an NVlink... One card would render only, and what would the 2nd 3090 do, run his monitors?.. Seems excessive... Your assumption is that he has upgraded Daz3d after 2021 which maybe not the case, and he is still using a version that supports NVlink.. I know alot of Dev's that refuse to upgrade Daz citing that the version they use is stable and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If I had invested all that $ on a rig and link setup I would sure be still using a version of Daz that supported it. Just my 2 cents.

Example post of 4 x 3090 claim for reference.

I wonder if, after this whole interminable museum mess and the wasted time (1-2 real years) of the erotic ranch tour is over, this will happen on Monday in some empty classroom at the school... ((This is a great old drawing that I rescued some time ago. I regret not remembering the author's name, but all credit goes to him.))
