VN Ren'Py A Wife and Mother [v0.201] [Lust & Passion]

I'll say one thing about the .2 update (haven't played .25 yet) - I found the daughter swimming scene to be amazing. I know I won't have many fans here, but this scene was a good example of how the author sets up the player's perception (meta game) by showing you how he wants you to perceive the MC and how he wants you to see the way she perceives the characters around her. I also enjoy subtle interactions, so the daughter in skimpy suit was best eye candy of any game.

I could not agree with you more on where authors often go to extremes - there is a failure to hit the mark in a realistic sense. 2 games that in my opinion comes close are Depraved Awakening and DFD. DFD also hasn't crossed that mark, and is probably why it could still be interpreted as realistic. DA wins because there's no incest therefor you don't have to stretch your imagination to make it work.

This game (A Wife and Mother) is setting itself up in the Incest category about as well as I could imagine, to stay within the realm of realism. Have you even heard about a legitimate, successful incestous realationship in RL? How would you even perceive those people if you knew about it? This game is doing a damn good job of trying to stroke that threshhold of "how does this even come about?" This is where we are in these updates. I myself can't even ponder how the author is going to make this MC (intelligent, down to earth mostly, beautiful, has options, isn't emotionally scarred) fall into a true, realistic taboo trap. I'm so eager to see if he does this successfully. But for it to be successful, it cannot happen soon. Not where it's at currently.

Oh right, gritty realism is why we're here. I almost forgot this game was a realistic take on overcoming the statistical improbability of a mother having sex with both of her teen children.

Give us a break. The potential for the female MC having sex with underage teen characters was one of the *key* selling points of this VN.

Dev can't make up his mind though. Mixed statements from him about the taboo stuff, he's hinted he may cut out the incest path. He has to come clean with his patrons about what the damn game is about.

She won't. This is why this is a mistake on many level. Striving to be fully realistic will prevent you to turn the game into porn in an sensible fashion when you succeed. It will become impossible to explain the change and make it appear plausible.

I'm so eager to see if he does this successfully.

He won't. You will be sorely disappointed most likely. If he succeed in realism, for what you praise him, he will fail badly at this. True realism and porn is mutually exclusive.

If he makes the change suddenly, he'll render his own efforts to make it appear realistic a pointless waste of time as well as an annoying one. If he sticks to realism too long the chasm between his realistic approach and the new course will be too big to bridge and he'll be either too afraid to even try to make it, becoming all too aware of the rift only then -way too late-, and probably never gonna give it a try and the suspension will last forever.. or will simply realize this isn't what he wanted and scrap the project.
But since he earns too well, and this probably his job now as well, its unlikely that he would just scrap it. His self-interest would be at that point to keep this going on and scrap the idea to turn it to porn instead.

At this point, everyone's thinking "can this guy even write a decent sex scene that's a little different". Note that it didn't have to be the prude mother, there were other ways to display such content.

The answer without a doubt, is NOPE.

This game started off really well, but instead of getting more kinkier and sexual it just gets more boring every update. After 5 minutes and 50 renders of dialog I started skipping and absolutely NOTHING happened. I don't know if the dev thinks he is the new Ernest Hemingway and people play this game for the groundbreaking story. No, just no. At some point people want to see some action. It worked for DMD, but I don't think anybody will ever have that patience again

I have such a bad feeling .... in the beginning was the thought of how she seduce the neighbor boy and / or seduces the son. so far so good.

After the update I have the feeling that later in the game probably half the city will be able to fuck. the janitor, the good-looking colleague, the maid, the football mom, the beggar on the street, schoolgirl and so on ..

far too many places to play away from what the first two parts did so well.

I can be wrong, but a feeling remains a feeling.

So erotic and great I found the first two parts, so bored and uninspired I clicked through this now ... there was nothing that had the approach of something erotic

Well, we'll see what else happens in the future

It might just be me but I am actually digging this slow build up. Although I haven't played 0.025 I find it refreshing that a game spends quit sometime to build up a story instead of another he lets just start fucking in the first 5 minutes.

I truly believe that its great we have a choice of different games. And yes quite a few people are disappointed about the lack of sex scenes. I am willing to wait to see where this game is heading to.

If you want sex scenes just play Milf City which has great sex scenes despite being 0.1 version. Or any of the many games here with are either completed or on a much higher version.

Just be glad off all the different content we can access here.

I will keep an eye on this one.

By the time anything "sexual" involving the MC takes place, the game will have exceeded 20 gigs in size. But I guess the sheer size will not matter anyhow, given the fact that by then most of us will be incontinent, senile old fools residing in an assisted-living facility...or dead!

That is actually a good point. Removed the group sex and incest tag since I am sure those are not in the game. Left the rest intact due to still having to play 0.025

Then I'll feel the same about it that I do about every other game. They're all successful and have many fans. Good for him if that's what he does. Life will go on for me.

I'm not hear to hate on that. This is my take on why an author would go to the pain of creating an exceptionally elaborate build up of story and character, and my criticism of people that seem to want the same thing from every game.
