Civil discussion on a fap forum, well that's new!I rarely leave comments but this is one of my favorite games and I hate seeing how any criticism of it get shut down so I'm gonna leave a little wall of text/rant. Remember, this is my own personal opinion.
The people calling the dev names, throwing personal insults, threats, you know what I mean. Those people are always going to be in the wrong no matter what.
But how come mentioning the fact that this dev has, as far as I know, not once hit a deadline. Or the fact that he was supposed to cut down on renders in order to speed up release dates, but the opposite happened.
Mentioning the fact that the dev has been very inefficient in terms of progressing the story, and I'm not talking about the pace of the plot, I'm talking about the progression, or lack thereof. Just so there's no confusion, I'm not saying Sophia should have been more corrupted at this point in the plot, I'm saying, in my opinion, the game should have progressed beyond this point for the(almost) two years it's been in development.
How come mentioning the fact that it's absolutely ridiculous to delay an update for 3-5 days just to proofread and correct a quarter of an update's worth of script is considered whiny?
I'm aware that there are a ton of people just hurling insults and saying nothing constructive at all, but there are also a ton of people with genuine criticisms that are being grouped with these same people.
"If you don't like it cancel your pledge/I bet you're not even a patron" - I'm sure some people have cancelled their pledges and I can tell you for a fact if the dev was more efficient I would have pledged a long time ago.
"Why do you still play if the game sucks?" - The game doesn't suck, it's just progressing too slow.
Here's what I think the dev did right.
- Porting from that god awful RPGM to Ren'Py, best decision he's made by far.
- The renders are great, There's no denying that.
- I like the pace of the story, , I like the way it's playing out. I especially enjoy the slow corruption but I wouldn't necessarily agree with the people here who claim it to be realistic. I just wish we were at a point further in the story by now.
- Wedding ring on the wife, a pet peeve of mine is games with married women where there's no wedding ring showing but that's even more subjective than the rest.
Here's what I don't like
-The amount of content so far. I've been following this game since day 1 and there was a concensus after literally the first update that the dev should cut down the amount of renders in order to pump out more story content per update, while minimizing redundancy. As far as I know he did cut down on renders, but the length or content of the updates has been the same, this is my main gripe.
-Some of the writing, and more specifically how the MC is completely unaware of the world and her surroundings at almost any given time. To quote a comment or review I read, the mc acts like a "maladjusted retard" which sometimes takes me out of the game completely.
-Too many subplots for a game that's progressing at this pace. I don't want to be one of those "Sophia Sex update in year 2050" people, but with the amount of progress there is per update compared to how many subplots there are makes me think that this game either won't get finished in, realistically, 3-4 years. Or will feel very rushed.
I'm sure there are some other minor things I like and dislike about this game but these are on the top of my mind right now.
This is my personal opinion on the matter, I'm sure some people agree with me and may disagree, if you think any of my points are invalid feel free to reply, I'm always up for a civil discussion.
Nevertheless it doesn't mean I'm not agreeing with you. You hit the nail on the forehead.
