Let's put the cards on the table. The $ you see on Patreon currently are not my or any ones real income! At the end of every month it falls down at some percent to about 2600-2700 in my case. That's what I've earned the last months. That's about 2150€. Minus some Patreon charges and about 100€ Paypal is always withdrawing for dollar/euro conversion. That's 2000-2050€. Minus tax and health insurance = maybe 1200 if I'm lucky. A very small flat in Germany costs (cold rent) at least 400€/month. If you're using the GPU many thousands of hours you can imagine how the electricity bill looks like! Then you have also to buy at least food and beverages. If you got a car, also paying auto insurance. Plus other necessary private things. If you stay in college: about 720€ per year (yeah this is very cheap in comparison to America!). So there's not really much what remains at the end. And for 340 working hours per month, this is really not the most lucrative way to earn money in Germany when the hourly compensation is 8,84€, so for jobs you don't need any qualification!
A GPU, which is used for thousands of hours under full load per year doesn't last much longer than 12-14 months! I need at least 2 GPU's. One GPU = 1000€.
I'm doing it actually much more because of passion to my project at the moment!
So financial support of the project is necessary. Without it all stop.

A lot of DVs are having Patreon problems. How about a fan sponsored rival to Patreon that allows what the fans want? Maybe F95zone can get sponser it.

Just my two cents, but a lot of devs are having Patreon problems because they don't pay attention to Patreon's rules! Are those rules asinine bullshit? YES! But fortunately for us, a lot of successful devs actually read the rules and are clever enough to both adhere to the letter of the law while sidestepping the literal rules. As a result, they are free to develop the game they want to develop for their patrons without any problems. It's really not that hard, and it's mind-boggling how many devs

in the name of "artistic" blah-blah-blah... Dude, you're not making "art." This isn't a first amendment fight. Scrub your Patreon page, don't advertise incest, and then make the game as smutty and incesty as you want and Patreon won't give a shit. They don't care about the product. They just care about their image.

You're wrong. All kinds of trash gets supported on Patreon just because you get to bone mommy and sis. With the good quality of this guy's work, he has nothing to worry about, even with delays and poor communication. People want to beat the meat on their kinks, everything else is a bonus.

You can't do in a week what takes a month to do, unless the developer hires a bunch of people to work around the clock to deliver within such a tight timeframe (expenses which would eventually negate his financial gains on Patreon). So no matter how much the developer earns, updates will roughly take a month or so. Even big games from big developers take time, because it's not just the renders, it's the writing, the coding, the proof-reading and so on. It's simply not realistic to say that a weekly turnaround is possible if enough people donate. It's not possible, especially for a perfectionist.
Besides, $12,000/month is a ridiculous amount of money for most people. It's easy to say that "well, if a couple of hundred people donate, this will happen", but unless you're putting your own money on the line, and leading by example, it comes across as hollow. We all want the game to succeed, but urging people to spend their hard earned income on something that's not going to provide a clear net benefit in their lives is a bit misguided, in my opinion. As I said before, only a small percentage of people here are willing to essentially "sponsor" adult game creators. I'm not one of them.
Furthermore, what type of benefits do you derive from pledging your money to this project? The developer has made it clear that he's not going to change his story, or deviate from his original plan, so there goes the chance of having an impact on the direction of the game. When people invest in a product, they usually expect some kind of return. I know that Patreon is different because it's about supporting somebody else's artistic vision, but human beings are (by necessity) driven by their self-interest. At the core, Patreon is a form of voluntary welfare, and not many people like that.
Would I like the developer to meet his financial goals? Definitely, but it's harder to justify with each lackluster update that comes out. I don't agree with Your point of view. This is exactly the main problem with adult games on Patreon, that patreons as supporters on Patreon have too much influence on developers. In the result, everyone of donors wants something different, developer fulfills wishes of most payable patreons and in consequence, the game swaps into some kind of trash bin or a sequence of cut-scenes, without logical development of personalites and action. I stay in hope that Lust and Passion will stay faithfull to his first and original vision of this game. Not to be influenced by anybody, especially those of patreons wanting more and more lewd sex immediately from next update.

Here I disagree. Do not understand literally all week. I do not know how much faster, but more money, definitely the game will come out faster. 5 dollars is such a lot of money? Encourage people to help an interesting project with money, without which the project can be closed. This is normal.
Why should the author change the plot and deviate? Then I do not understand. The plot and script is brilliant. One of the best aspects of the game. I think your claims to the author of the game are strained. Not everything always goes as expected. Updates are good, but it's a pity they are small. As I said the main events unfold further. The author makes the game one, he is not a superman. And I think it should be supported.

Completely wrong.Money don't dictate the speed of updates.Actualy there is some tendency that most game that start to make more money,get the updates slower,not faster.
See DS par example.No matter what he makes $5K or $30K he was delivering each update on the same day of the month.

Money can greatly influence. Situations are different. In order for updates to come out quickly, the game should be the author's only occupation. For this, the game should bring the author income that fully meets his needs. If there is no money, the author either throws the game or gives her a couple of hours because of the basic work. Still need a good computer, programs and other related costs. Do not forget this is the author's first project. He is in many ways not yet experienced. So money is very influential.

I know I'm in the minority here.

But I feel like I shouldn't have to download a patch, because the dev took the time to write the game twice to accommodate incest, just so they can keep making the kind of money you can only get on Patreon. If the game NEEDS the patch to be a good game, then it's not a good game.

And using Patreon to receive money without reading the community guidelines isn't very smart.

I have to say I completely disagree, the patches make a medicore game into a good one... Play Dreams of Desire (one of the best games here) without the patch, and tell me how awesome you think it is... Yes you can make the claim that the sex scenes or the models are still good or whatnot, but the story falls ****ing apart if the females are only Landlady and Roommates...

I mean I know its porn games and we dont need Shakespeare lv writing, but no young male is going to go through hell or fight a cult consisting of people with magic powers for a damn landlady and roommates... The MC would just bounce the **** out of there and go bang other women instead...

Yeah, its fairly autobiogeaphical andamost characters are based on real people. He wasn't decent, but my mom figured that way she could keep an eye on us. If you are spoiled and beg your parents, you can get away with stuff like that.

Your argument is completely valid it has some merit to it. However sometimes incest does not add to the story. A good example of this is the game "My sweet neighbors." If they changed the back story so that the female neighbor you are datting is an ex girlfriend, or ex wife, and her daughter is yours then I do not think it would truly enrich the game. In "Ellena's Life" making Brad into Elena's biological son would not improve the game any.

A game can be very well written, or very poorly written regardless of incest content. Life with Mary would not improve in value if Mary were your biological niece, because it is well written the way it is.

It's a bitch I totally agree when a mom becomes an "Older female room mate" or a "Landlady" and a siser becomes a "younger female room mate" or 'Land Lady's daughter".

It's ALSO a bitch when someone makes a shitty game, and just says "Oh this character is the protagonists mom, and this one is the sister" as if it is a fix for bad writing.

Good writing is what makes the difference either way.
