Sophia also mentioned she got pregnant with Ellie during college and got married just after graduation. I don't remember in which point in the game she mentioned this.
So, it makes perfect sense that Sophia is 38. Ellie is 19 (probably), Sophia and Liam has been married for 18 years. She is right at the start of her middle life crises.

Also, for the fact that Sophia is a lot more lusty after just few weeks without sex. Man normally loses their libido when they age while woman's libido normally rises with age. She is in the phase of her life when she is most... 'needy' let us say.

EDIT. I could probably get a link of some research explaining this, but i'm a lazy fuck. Sorry.
It is mentioned in the intro when Sophia got pregnant

I think that the self defense class will give Dylan some confidence in his ability to fight (likely misplaced if going up against someone who is a fighter but...) and I think that this could become part of the Dylan/Marie story arc which would be great.

I also think that this training could give Dylan the confidence to try to intervene if he saw Logan trying to force Ellie to do something she didn't want to do. We already know that Logan is a bruiser - he lost out on an opportunity when he beat up the son of one of the agency executives during a party. He also likes to drink and doesn't seem bothered about losing control.

So - if Dylan intervened to try to save Ellie (because brothers and sisters will fight but they will also stand together against others who attack any family members), even if he failed and got beaten up, this could continue to help heal the rift between them. Imagine Sophia overhearing this conversation:

Ellie: 'Dylan, why did you step in to save me. You took a major beating from Logan.'

Dylan: 'Ellie you're my Sister - of course I'm going to try to protect you.'

Ellie: 'You know that you could not beat him in a fight right?'

Dylan: 'I didn't think about that - I saw him hurting you and I had to do something to stop him'

Ellie: 'There is no way to hide the damage he did to you... What are you going to say to Mom (Please don't tell her about Logan she thinks)'

Dylan: 'I'll tell her I got into a fight with a couple of guys on the way home from school. Mom will get mad and I might get grounded but I don't care about that.'

Ellie: 'Stop moving your face around, I'm trying to put on the antiseptic.'

Dylan: 'Why are you trying to help me?'

Ellie: 'You got beaten up trying to help me so I figure I can do this to help pay you back... but don't get used to it (said with a bit of a smile on her lips and the first kind-hearted teasing tone Dylan thinks he's ever heard from Ellie towards him)'

Sophia smiles to herself and quietly goes back downstairs to her office.

____

Yes - this is the kind of thing that can happen to help heal the rift between Dylan and Ellie.

If you don't like Dylan - I suspect that you Don't want to see this kind of rapprochement.

If you like Dylan - I believe that you will approve of this type of event.

In either case, we'll have to see if L&P advances the story relationships using the self defense classes as stepping stones/a catalyst for relationship changes.
Sorry for this late reply.
I don't 'dislike' Dylan and normally wouldn't have any problem with this development. If it ended in just friendship.

The problem is that the little fuck obviously wants his sister, not only his mother (whaaat a fucking surprise). In the little event they had, Dylan spent a lot of time undressing Ellie with his eyes and even took advantage of her hug to try and get a feel.
So yeaaah, it will probably end in Dylan trying to get some. The harem and whatever.

Ellie would not accept it for what we know about her character, she is not attracted to Dylan in ANY way. She is mostly disgusted and sometimes feels her privacy threated by the little pervert. To make such a development possible we would see Ellie's mentality getting changed to fit Dylan's desire better and i don't want to see my favorite character turning into a man-boy's harem member.
That's what makes me apprehensive about this plot line. If this don't happen, kudos to their friendship~

Wow, so long ago. It's surprising i remember it being mentioned at all. But i got some of the facts wrong apparently, sorry for that.

Also, adding to the 'Sophia needy' thing. Women see a rise in their libido with age mostly because they are closer to the 'point of no return' and their maternal instinct kicks in, making them want more children. More children equals more sex. We see this in play during the game.

Well, according to this, and based on the age people normally finish the 4-year version of College in US (it goes from 19 to 22), she could be 20 when she got pregnant, 21 when she gave birth and 39 if Ellie is 18. The could be minor differences of months in between, but yes, 38/39 is reasonable if she really needed only 4 years for College (giving birth twice..).

The Dylan/Ellie storyline is separated and independent from the Sophia's(bonus storyline).

True about Ellie, except bonus story. During that scene we see another Ellie. Without bra n pant, with a visible cameltoe.

Meaning she is already suffering changes in her mentality to fit Dylan's fantasy more. Point being, even if it's a plot outside of the game's main story i still don't like this idea. I really don't know why i dislike such a side story so much.

Why don't just finish this game trying to maintain the original prototype and then make a game about fucking Dylan fucking everyone around him. It would make the people that actually want this to happen a lot more happy than just giving them small pieces of this development.

But that's just me, i know nothing about game development and how stressful it can be to deal with fans.

It's still the same Ellie. The bonus storyline isn't mutually exclusive with the Ellie route. So all the information we could discover in it still applies, including her consistent dislike for him.

Hey, i actually gave an idea of how they can obtain what they want a lot easier than head-bashing their way into AWAM development.

I will take the hate and face palms thought, my point stands and my opinion won't change.

Honestly, I don't think the timeline and ages are meant to be heavily scrutinized. This is both for the kids, and for Sophia herself, because once you start asking even simple questions the timeline gets weird.
Agreed. It's an important point, yes, but it's immaterial to the development of the game itself. But people here often gets bored because of the lack of things to discuss as new content takes time to come.

Sophia could pepper spray the fuck out of him too. Never forget.
I haven't forgotten. I just love Patricia's sense of humour.

Really? Because it's perfectly consistent to me.
