I don't know about that one but I will have to get back to you
It's my personal read on Morello. His reaction to the debt from the very beginning has been suspicious to me. He wants to meet with Sophia
alone until she insists on bringing Liam, he (Morello) has already pre-determined that there's no way that they can pay back the debt, and he is so open to the idea of forgiving the debt.
This is not how someone would behave if they really cared about the money and is why I suspect that Morello somehow manipulated the game of poker for Liam to lose. If Morello was really concerned about the money above all else, he would have entertained some sort of payback plan with interest. Also, I don't care how connected Morello is, there's no way he could have ascertained overnight the financial situation of the Parkers. And, if he
was able to do it overnight, he would certainly know that they have a very wealthy brother-in-law who could help them out. If Morello cared about the money,
and was omniscient then knowing about Carl would be key to squeezing the Parkers. He would know that they do have access to the resources to pay him back. This is a tactic used by unscrupulous lenders all the time- lend money to untrustworthy people solely because they know a relative has the money to pay them back.
In my opinion, Morello locked in on Sophia early and has manipulated a situation purely for the opportunity to get closer to her. This is not about the money, that's just the lever he's pulling on to manipulate the situation.
