It's rather peculiar to see the tiny change of your perception towards him. AWAM is his dream project, as I see it. The latest images from 0.130 previews proves, that he improved further the image quality.
Impatience, urge and thirst for getting an update asap may obscure the vision. It would be ideal gaining new versions every month or fortnight, with the exact outcome I can wish on a star. Can he create sketches, like a script for a big budget movies, for the entire game and only after that start working on his renders? Probably, which will result in delaying upcoming updates, as he's gonna spend time on that. But it may speed up the process in the long-term, as the framework of the VN will be completed.
I was mentioning a couple of months ago, that the only problem I have with the product is fundamentally random release dates. Working alone is a blessing and a nightmare. He's a big boy, he'll figure out what to do on his own.
I see how the things are at the moment and due to L&P's personal troublesome development issues they not gonna get better anytime soon. Who's he expected to hire and what chunk of the income he'll lose? These are not some trivial questions. How many artists are even capable to render on his level and how many corrections he's gonna do, if he sees, that the scene should've been done otherwise, not as he had imagined it in his head?
I perfectly understand what creative process is, but in different and more complex sphere. The original plan may significantly differ from the final result. That's life, you may want always to perfect something, tweak here and there. You can't make happy everyone and that's not the goal. Self-improvement is fine and if you can earn some cash while doing that, why the heck not?
You're absolutely right, my friend!
When I read suggestions in this chat, and often direct instructions on what and how to perform L&P, I am overcome with bewilderment and sadness.
Instructions to shorten the text, reduce the number of renderers, supposedly removing unnecessary ones, etc.
Are people so blind to what L&P creates?
I myself recently made an offer to return to the previous quality of renderers. But after looking at the latest previews, I understand that this is an unrealistic offer.
In my opinion, the only real opportunity for L&P to speed up the release of updates is to split the content of the game day as much as possible.
For example, to release this update without the evening event, Sam's concert. And when you finish working on it, release a small update just for this event.
Thus, updates can come out with different frequency from a month to three, but the total time of creating the game will certainly not decrease.
Working in this way, be on the lookout for assistants who meet the requirements and are able to work together. And if successful, you may be able to gradually increase the amount of content for each subsequent update.
This is, in my opinion, the only acceptable strategy for L&P, as long as it does not worry about the fact that the updates will not contain content related to all arcs. Since at the moment, it is this concern that prevents L&P from releasing the update sooner. Of course, bearing in mind that everything else he performs according to his previous requirements.
