4. Affection, if someone is "feeling" (mentally as in an older women whom no longer sees herself as a sex object) a longing for "it" (that sexiness that she feels has lost "it") and someone seeds and waters that longing for being looked as sexy once again (may take some coaxing and time but damn skippy they going to pounce on it.)
Just go to a bar on any giving Thursday or Friday night just before closing you see the examples of this in living color.
Except that Sophia, as an intelligent woman, only has to look in the mirror to know she not only hasn't "lost it" but has a lot more of "it" than the majority of career women her age & with her responsibilities. [Believe me, when you actually lose it in RL, you know & I'm male]. There's been far too much made of Liam's lack of attention IMO. They've been married for the best part of 20 years & that's long past the 'romance' phase of any relationship. Put simply, they're not kids anymore, despite Sophia acting like a 17-year old in the last update.
It's more "realistic", (if any realism still exists in AWAM), to think of Sophia as someone who has a particular weakness for flattery & will follow her own selfish urges, once she's stopped with the tired old, "this is so wrong but why does it feel so right? 3D porn thoughts & that she's more concerned with her own pleasure than she is with, maybe, talking to Liam about how she feels. It shouldn't be all down to her husband & I'm speaking as no Liam fan.
I surmise that with the age of most fans being on the young side & the Dev himself being in his mid-30s, that the menopause is not something that receives much consideration. Its early onset might have been a better explanation for Sophia's behaviour, as the psychological effects can take many forms & can sometimes be extreme. Unfortunately there's nothing sexy about it, so I can well understand why it is nowhere in the story & will probably remain so.
