Yes and No. L&P is now using it independently to justify the "Blackmail" with Aiden, but it was initially part of the twist as it was a lie to conceal the nature of The Twist. Sophia questions Dylan before L&P decides to remove The Twist from the novel.

Now, this is where the logical part comes into play. When L&P took The Twist out and left this scene intact with defending the student, One should have thought to themself, if what Dylan was saying was true about the students and teacher, what was the name of the students and teacher involved by the principal or Sophia so they could talk to them, as a teacher and parent which you think should have been brought up as a question if the twist was still intact too. So this is why he should have to revisit this scene after removing The Twist.

In terms of sex scenes on the Filthy route, development is so slow it could easily be a decade away.

Maybe dev found it illogical and threw it in the trash. HERE. that Dylan asked Aiden, a Yakuza member, to blackmail his mother. Dylan came up with a fight with Aiden to make it more believable. Because Dylan wanted his mom to dress sexier. She would be weak for me too. Because Dylan could have told his mother to dress sexier. He did not have to resort to blackmail.

Over the last couple of years I've written more than I ever intended on the subject of the Aiden blackmail route. Now I'm about to do so again but having earlier participated in the foregoing discussion & then reading the follow-on, there are various points to consider from many fans. I apologise for not naming everyone in this post but I got back to my PC to find 28 posts to peruse & I would have to keep referring back & forth to do them full justice & sometimes I receive an overall impression & then address key elements, if you see what I mean. It's shorter that way, believe me.

First, I am in the position of approving the twist's removal. After initial doubts I got off the fence, because to include it would have made Dylan not just a needy, scheming, manipulative, misguided & confused person but IMO, a completely moronic idiot. I'm no Dylan fan but even I didn't want that for him. Now from my POV & playthrough, he's on his way to normal teen life with a new girlfriend. [Sophia's "mid-life crisis" did even Dylan ever believe that in the twist? What teenager ever thinks, (or has even heard), about a mid-life crisis anyway? Answer=not very many. Next he would have been thinking about his pension arrangements!?]

Then, without the twist, there's the crucial issue of the original reason that Dylan was picked on by Aiden & co. Again in the playthrough I use, there's no question that this happened & for a realistic reason. There could have been a case for more storytelling around the incident in the early stages of Aiden's plan. On the other hand, it is plausible to me that the school did in relation to Dylan, Zac & the original victims they helped, what is often done in RL regarding bullying, i.e. any of the following......the bare minimum,/ referred to the school's anti-bullying policy, (hereinafter known as 'fine words'),/ blamed the victim(s),/ promised further action after due consideration,/ denied anything serious had occurred,/ denied anything had happened at all,/ said that all details were 'confidential', then did nothing,/ had a talk with the victim's but not the perpetrator's parents or guardians, then did nothing,/ OR, that old standby.....listened to a parent's complaint with convincing, even genuine, empathy....then did nothing.

Finally there's the question of what the blackmail may become "later". It would appear that, despite everything, there's going to be some other kind of "twist" for those, like me, who will continue to play this route, for as long as it lasts that is. Although I'm 95% convinced the tasks will never reach double figures, I deplore the whole concept of it reaching a point where it becomes a mutually pleasurable, tacitly agreed, consensual sex-game. That's not blackmail. AWAM is already quite possibly the most vanilla corruption game out there & IMO, would continue to be so, even if the tasks ratcheted up several notches. Sophia enjoying some aspects of the tasks is not the same. She does this, despite herself & that's how it should stay, IMO.

Bennett has been sidelined. Nobody really thinks he's going to get anywhere meaningful, surely? Now we're seriously facing the prospect of both blackmail routes being terminated, even the possibility of Aiden just being another misunderstood "hard case". Yes, of course, somewhere deep down he probably craves affection but as far as I'm concerned, he can keep that to himself. Who will be the villain after he's 'redeemed'?

All told, I may appear to be in a minority but combined with an atrocious update schedule, "I don't like where this is going".

I don't know how L&P wrote the Don Morello event, but if I were writing it, I would compel Sophia to explain in detail all of the things that Aiden has done to her to make her come to Morello for help. Something like this:

Sophia: "...And for the second task, Aiden first made me come to the back of the classroom and lift the front of my dress and show my panties to him and his friend Andre. Oh, Don Morello, it was so humiliating, standing there with my dress up above my waist and these two grinning boys with their faces so close to my vagina covered only by my flimsy panties, while they made comments about my sexy blue panties!"

Morello: "Blue panties, you said. Please continue."

Sophia: "Then he made me sit on my desk at the front of my entire class, and spread my legs wide until all of my students could see my panties up my dress."

Morello: "The blue panties."

You can reject Aiden's blackmail option as it's the reader's choice to do so, but if the reader chooses to pick that path, as I did, then the storyline told is 'far-fetch' in general, even from a fictional POV. The way Sophia is written at the start is like she is naive about the outside world. She lives in her bubble of solitude for the first four or five PDs, which the reader has to pop and show her what the outside world is all about. I think the story could have been a little better with some corruption in her from the start.

And with the Second Side Job, I think that one, by far, is in the lead for being the most unrealistic path because she was "Down Below" after two playable days. In comparison, Aiden's Blackmail had some build-up.

Yeah, I told the yakuza joke because Aiden's story reminded me a bit of a real story, where a teen yakuza member threatened his own parents, so they didn't call the police even when they knew he and his friends were torturing, violating and killing a teenage girl from the same school in the same house where they lived, during several days. That story is really awful and I advice to not read about it: the Junko Furuta case.

My point is that, yes, teen gang members in schools exist and yes, they can even blackmail adults like Sophia. Still, we can discuss that this threat hasn't been presented as such in the game and Sophia went to easy into the blackmail stuff, with almost no opposition. Maybe a bigger emphasis in Aiden's threat and Sophia's fear about her son's health would be better.

Also, we can discuss that in a rich family is not too realistic that you have one of your kids in a school where there are gang members. Alley_Cat said that's because of Dylan's low grades, as it's been told in the intro. But, if you are rich, you can put your kids in a rich school no matter the grades, there are high class schools for academically bad students too, specially in a capitalist society.

I had to read a lot of different criticism of L&P on this forum, I have never ignored anyone, I have not used this function of the site.
But I think everyone, even those who constantly express harsh criticism, will agree that L&P has created a very sexy image and his skill should be given credit.

Come on L&P, speed up development, you've done a lot already, but you still have so much to tell and show us! It takes too long to do this, unless of course you change the way you work to speed up development.
